I bought this same one online, plugged it in and my car was running rough. Didn't want to start at times. Got back home, and found out there was no grease on the heat sink behind the module. Worked fine every since. Lol

Please Note: This Module can causes a lot of Headaches !!! If your Car / Truck Over Heat or in Hot / Warm Weather and your Car / Truck dies during driving.... It might be as simple as this Module...... QUICK TEST !!! If you Car / Truck dies during driving.... Wait 15-30 minutes or take an Ice Cube, put it over this Module and COOL it for 2 Minutes. If your Car / Truck starts again, then you know your ICM needs New Thermal Paste or Replacement !!!

After scanning 50 videos it looks like everybody assumes it is the module if the coils are good. It looks to me like if either the cam sensor or crank sensor are bad you can screw around with that coil all you want and be wasting time. Not one person mentioned the fact that if the crank sensor is bad it wont send juice anywhere!

I had a popular parts store check my ICM which they said was bad, however their tester also showed two of the modules they had in stock bad also. I am really curious now as to the status of a module I had purchased from them . After installation the truck ran for approximately four hours and now will not start. The modules were installed with the supplied "Grease" they supplied.

I found out that if you don't use AC Delco parts truck will not run right.So don't buy the cheap stuff you'll end up buying the higher end down the line somewhere.

Moisture drips onto distributor cap and insides are wet. New distributor cap needed many times and stop drip from above and tighten distributor cap and buy a good one this time.

So how did it run with the icm and coil that was resting on top of the motor. I didn't see it grounded nor the coil wire hooked on it to send spark to the cap
@sethary969811 ай бұрын
The coil that was on the truck was still plugged in and installed. He just unplugged the icm (the one mounted on the truck) and plugged that connector into the test one

so mine does the same thing can it also be the ignition coil or just the icm?

+Francisco Huerta - You can test the Ignition Coil easily with a Multi-meter... Search on KZfaq for it. As for the Ignition Control Module, you can easily get from EBay for Cheap. Would it cause a misfire if its bad? My Tahoe started to lose power as i was on the freeway one day, check engine light came on, 2 codes came out, p0300 and p0420 maf sensor. Changed the sensor but nothing, had the mechanic do a diagnostic test, he came up with a bad fuel injection. So i changed the spider. Started it up, and ron what seemed ok for like 1 minute, then back to the misfire, no power. And bad exhaust smell.

Hi Jamie... So you can find info on our website, www.theneighborhoodwrench.com , To your problem, From your story i think you had a misfire and unburnt fuel melted your Catalyst (rotten egg smell). The minute it runs well is the time it takes to build back pressure, the MAF code is because no air can flow when none comes out the exhaust. A vacuum gauge is a great cheap tool to be sure this is it. Check "on all pistons" for a diagram of sample vacuum gauge readings. Also on misfires, always check spark with an HEI tester (looks like a spark plug). spark should be blue not yellow, Yellow may or may not fire under compression when it is 10 times the outside pressure, Converter should be it for you thou, If this helps, pls. take a minute to review us on google or facebook. That and liking our page really helps us! Thanks for watching and your comment . Mike, from your neighborhood wrench team.

Hmm as I always say wait for Friday get a cold beer and then pull the battery cables from the battery. Now take a close look at the area which contacts the battery lip hmm rusty greenish brown or worse the contact area has turned( black )!!!!! Lots and lots of voltage drop hmm not just here but at every connection in the wiring harnesses. Now add add all these bad connections spots. And wait for a cold and rainy day. Ugg Ugg Ugg goes the starter. But wait a second The votage drop is also draining the IGN System Too more connections to unplug to examine looking at the male and female terminals yep you need to clean off all the croudsion tell you see that shiny copper color again. Going to take a few days to do this. Put everything back together and try starting the engine hmm if it starts then let it alone . if it doesn't change the control mulduel. Check for spark ?? Sometimes you need to swamp out the brain box also. Considering how many miles you have on the engine. If your over 250'000 then change everything lol lol lol or buy a new truck

Hi guys I have a surprise for you, today I figure out that after changing 3 coils in one year , guest what?? It wasn't the coil, it was one of the connectors going to the coil that was making shortage because I move a little bit the connector and my truck turn off , and I bough a new connector and problem solve❤ 47 dollars it cost me.
