As famous as it was contriversial, Austin McHale was eventually declared as the rally winner, lifiting the trophy nine days after the event finished, following a successful appeal of a time penalty issued by the stewards on the first day of the event.

The golden years, it was always a big event when the circuit was coming through the local area.

That was Austins last win on a round of the Tarmac Championship..he did win National Rallys and in UK ..he continued to compete until 2007...@paddy Sullivan VHS 📼 1990s Cork.
