Thank you! Been dealing with a leak on the driver side for like 2 years. Wasn't too bad until recently. Over time, it went from being just damp to being a pool of water. The hose was completely separated. They certainly didn't leave much slack there, no wonder it came undone. Probably had something to do with my dash randomly dying and coming back to life while driving recently. Thanks again!!

Thank you for posting this video. You helped me greatly. Mine was a leak on the same side (driver's for my RHD 2002 Type V) as in the video. I got access inside by lying upside down in the foot well; this gave me a clear view and easy reach by one hand. I used silicon sealant and a Jubilee clip after pulling the rubber out of the bodywork; not only did this make the job of sealing the tube far easier it also meant that I didn't have to play around in the wheel well.

Thank you thank you thank you for this video!! My driver's side floorboard was damp on my 99 Accord and could not figure it out- thought I had a door leak. Took the inner panel off and had a look, same issue as yours, drain hose was disconnected from the elbow tube. Reconnected it and all good now!

Glad it helped!!! I am currently working on the same car with 266k to sale in good working order.The only thing I wish I could elaborate on is replacing the sunroof drain hose over doing a quick fix for a dried out rubber hose that made it leak from the start.It is my theory that the sunroof has to be dismantled to do the drain line to replace it in my research which is a task for sure.

Glad to help out and make a problem easier to figure out!!!Just my take on any 98-02 accord with a sunroof is the rubber drain tube over time just get's brittle,and fatigue's over time.In my opinion if the elbow for the drain tube was 2-3 inches longer over the hose this clearly would Prevent any water problem into the car's interior!!!!In short no replacement hose for the sunroof and NO leaks.This clearly would accommodate the hose drawing up due to age,heat,cold,and time etc.

Thanks for the video, found mine on the driver side disconnected. Easier to access, but there is not a lot of length from the sunroof and the rubber portion that goes outside the vehicle just seems to have lost its tightness. I used something like duct tape to hold them together. The entire payload was going under the dash into the floor, well must have gotten other places as my AC controls sometimes works for controlling and sometimes not now. I am amazed at what you find on KZfaq and just grateful for people that post useful things!

Gerardo my video show's the general idea.You can simply remove the front wheel,remove the plastic fender liner and this alloy's you access to the sunroof drain tube.As for the interior it is soo easy.Just pull the fuse box relay cover,disconnect the several plugs going to the fuse box about 4-5.Then shine a flash light into the fender direction to verify the sunroof drain to the L shaped drain tube.I would 1st remove the wheel and then remove the plastic flat plug in the inner fender area and feel IF the drain tube is intact to the L shaped drain plug.If the tube is NOT in the drain spout use a long flat head screw drive to push it back in place.I soley used some clear silicone to keep the tube in the drain together and did Not replace the drain tube.So tell,tell signs the tube is disconnected is the carpet on the passenger side is sopping wet after it rains and has NO antifreeze smell like from a heater core failure.This vehicle is a family member's car and I cannot just walk step by step to show all the steps with a new video.Hope this helps and the info I suggest is really easy and maybe 30 minutes to check.

Hey Don thanks for the video. You got me looking under the dash for the driver side leak I have. On the driver side it's just right there no panels needed to be taken off. Tube coming down from sunroof is clear with the 45° cut on the end. Had pulled completely out of the black rubber boot

I have to agree Allbbrz as the car age's the rubber drain line or hose shrinks up and alloys water to literally drain into the car or carpet areas.Granted with a 1998 at 18 years old now the issue was resolved with my blow out and clear silicone around the tube to the L shaped grommet and done.I will say replacing the drain line or hose with a new hose which would be more flexible and fluid in the function or soft and pliable would easily fix the drain tube problem to the elbow as it probably is called.The short is as any rubber hose it over time gets hard,seals less and does not seat to the connection point intended.Glad this assisted you in figuring out you issue.

Juan T.I wish I could give you a solid answer on that problem.I on my family members car got away with using some silicone to secure the hose to the L shape tube to drain out the water.This was on the rhs of the car.Replacing the the sunroof drain tube is a touch more advanced than I went clearly.I am not sure how complicated replacing the drain hose is however,with the tight confine's and probable removal of the sunroof are a factor.I think you have 2 choices.One is buy a factory shop manual on ebay specific to the 1998-2002 accord and attempt to fix it yourself.Or take it to a Honda dealer and get it done right the 1st time.I say the dealer because they will stand behind there work and if a problem occurs you have a warranty on the work from a oem dealer.I have had lots of work done on 2 Hondas I worked on that were beyond my scope or time and the price and fix were with in reason!I hope this helps in some degree,at least on information.Thanks for the view and asking questions.

Great video man, thanks. Mine's on the driver side... what pisses me off is that is has such an easy solution during the design: just put a hose that goes straight through the outside, with a rubber gasket there, pronto: no hose disconnecting. BTW, the damn thing probably disconnects due to its age: kinda of shrinks and comes loose... i think...

I will say in my situation with the 1998 I lucked out on the passenger side hose fix.I just used a 12 inch long flat head screw to get the drain hose back as close or into the L shaped drain to secure it.I then used the same 12 inch long screw driver with some simple clear silicone on the end to dab around the hose to the L shaped drain.It has not leaked since.I have no idea what say the Honda dealer does to actually replace the sunroof drain tube specifically..I imagine removing parts of the sunroof are required and some techniques I am not fluent with on this venture.In short the sunroof tubes are rubber and over time the hose gets hard,brittle,and or loses it sealing ability.Not uncommon as far as a hose failing due to age or wear.

I need to clean up some of my details.First remove your front wheel,then remove the plastic fender well liner.2nd once this is removed you will see one screw high up and one screw in the lower half set back that have to come out.Once those are out lightly pull the lower dash plastic and or pop it loose it can be tight.At this point you can unplug the several electrical plug in connectors on the fuse box.I recommend a small flat head screw driver to push the tabs ON the plugs to pull them OUT! At this point you can push down the harnesses to then use a flashlight to look and verify the drain tube is intact the clear tube to the L shaped black hose for the drain.If you have any questions by all means ask!!!!!!! I took a longer time to do this and removing the fender is NOT required.I in short have worked on this car for 5 years in various areas of improvement and or repair.

I'm having this same problem with my "1998" v-6 accord ex sedan the sunroof drain tube on the front passenger side has become disconnected from the L shaped tee. Seems like the tube is a little short or has drawn up over time cause it barely goes down into the L shaped drain tee. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to solve this problem might have to replace the whole drain tube.

Robert L.If your sunroof drain is draining water into your floor area I doubt just blowing out the line will fix the issue.The simple response is the rubber tube draws up's or shrinks due to age and the rubber getting brittle.I would bet hands down the shop will recommend replacing the drain tube for the sunroof and while a (Good idea) it will cost more in the end.If it were Me just get the drain tube replaced and just waive the blow out of the tube is a waste of Time.Just get the drain tube replaced as I would do so if it were Me!Granted I cheated with the RHS tube and used silicone to seal the shortened hose to make it seal up.The final thoughts are rubber in general over time will shrink,get hard and not seal and this applies in various degree's with automotive issue's.I would just get the New drain tube installed and be done costly but,wet carpet and the the problems that follow are far worse.
@Ron1987
@Ron1987 5 жыл бұрын
Jimmy S. I also wish they had made a simple resolution to this.They know the rubber tubing over time will shrink or collapse especially with a odd drain tube like here.

I had same problem on my EG hatch, the sunroof tube had come off the black rubber exit tube and even after putting it back and supergluing it, I still had water dripping onto floor. I checked both sunroof tube and rubber exit tube for splits or holes and couldn't find any. So I had to do a bodge by getting a new pvc sunroof tube which was a bit longer and routed it to outside, no rubber exit tube just a grommet with hole in middle to hold the pvc tube steady.

I use clear silicone to seal the straight tube to the elbow.This did correct the problem.In short the tube from the sunroof to the elbow had begun to dry out as (rubber) does with age and reason it pulled back from the elbow where it would have drained out correctly.Thanks for viewing.

I wonder if “blowing” disconnected the tube from the “Y”?
@Ron1987
@Ron1987 2 жыл бұрын
Not really.In short if the vehicle has say 10 plus years age the rubber for the drains shrinks up.There for it pulls out of the elbow it slides into.That was the primary issue for the car in video.
@Ron1987
@Ron1987 9 жыл бұрын
I did at the time just do a quick fix and put some clear silicone around the drain tube to the elbow drain.I have not rechecked the car as it is a family members ride.I know that replacing the drain tube from the sunroof is clearly a irritating task.I agree just the age of the tube has caused the tube to dry out and shrink and the design is imo kind of crappy.

A very long flat head screw driver.With out removing any of the hvac components.It was not easy.I put clear silicone on the hose hook up and managed to get the hose on.A pain it was.But it did resolve the water no longer draining into the floor board.
