Its finally done!! I purchased this popup camper i January for $150 and started remodeling it in February. Things where slow and very messy before we finally had a plan on where we wanted it. New Canvas, new paint, new floors, and change and upgrade some of the equipment in it. All in all we used $1000 less than what we where gunna spend on a camp ready one off craigslist. Awesome Opportunity to do this with my lovely wife!! We will post our first official camp out in it as well...

So I did all of that and I found that I could actually use the front existing cover if I carefully took off everything else So we basically were able to use the front cover and made a little bit of cuts for the bottom around the frame

Coleman made some really nice campers in the 90's. I guess people had problems with the 1 piece top on theirs. Ours never experienced issues. We just picked up a 1997 Jayco popup after selling our 94 Coleman years ago when our kids grew up and out. We didn't need a big camper any more. The smaller popups are REALLY hard to find because they are the most popular campers on the used camper market. They retain their value as well. Ours needs the roof repainted and recaulked. Some clown screwed a car luggage rack from a really small car on top. That is going away. I intend to seal the holes. The roof vent doesn't have a fan, It needs a fan. I am thinking solar powered. I find those front storage campers tend to leak over time and create big issues. Our friends purchased a camper just like yours and stored it in a barn for the winter. The mice completely destroyed the canvass and all the cushions. Their insurance did pay for it.

a have a 00 with a swing away galley but mine is different. where do the hoses go when you lift it down? mine travels through a slot in the cabinets but didn't see that you had one

They do the same. I have a cover on the slot to keep stuff out and remove it when I need to swing it up.

reno looks fantastic! we have a similar camper and i'm trying to convince my husband to reno, so far no luck haha. anyway we have to replace our broken door handle, too... just wondering where you were able to find one in that style?? i just keep finding screen door handles but the striker isn't matching up properly. getting frustrated!

Nice renovation! I have the same 2001 model. The previous owner removed the front storage as it leaked as well. The water heater leaked as well and was removed too. What are you using for a water heater? You mentioned an electric one?

Nice! Question - I have the same stair step at my door and I can't see how to get the old laminate out to replace it, everything is riveted in place - is there some trick I am missing? Thanks in advance!

Yea, so for us we scored the laminate then used a scrapper and heat gun to get as much as I could up. Along the edges where the metal frame/trim is i did my best and edged it up so when we layer the new laminate down it was square and smooth. We used liquid nail and a grout trowel to make sure there was a good surface to adhere to.

I ended up paying 1600 to get a new one made. Depending on the company you can just get partial sides done, however you have to send in the current canvas so they can match the zippers up. But if you a total replace like I did you just select year, make, and model and they ship to you. Took 2 weeks for mine from Popupparts.com.

Mine where in good enough shape I only stripped the paint and the plastic molding off. Painted them and installed new black t-molding the fit in the groves around the edges of stuff. Replaced one door with some 1/4 in marine grade ply and some 1 x 2 for the framing.

What happened to the refrigerator that made you have to replace it? I’m having problems with mine.

It wouldn't cool. It was the 3 way version so I hooked up AC and DC power to it and it would not kick on. Then after I got the propane pilot light to finally get going I had the fridge turned to its lower setting and waited 2 hours. It didnt cool. First though was possible it was to far out of level for it to cycle properly but after I relabeled the trailer and everything it still didnt work. The was power to the system. I believe either there must have been a leak and all the coolant went out or it wasn't reacting properly when heat was applied. It's a shame to, good set up but what 500 plus bucks to replace with the same model/brand. That why we just went with a AC only fridge. I mean it was so small anyways we will need to have a cooler as well so why go pricey. If we are dry camping we can just use ice in ziplocks to cool the fridge and run a cooler. Of course the solar and inverter or generator would power it. To expensive to replace with a gas unit.

Wow! I'm looking at a Sun Ridge. The Shower alone and larger floorplan are key. Can I ask what you cleaned it with? Most have that mold mildew on the casing

Luckily our shower are was really clean however 409, then bleach, then magic erasers knocked out trouble spots.

We recently purchased a 1998 coleman camper. We have it set up in our side yard to do repairs. BIG problem... we can't get it to go down. Is there a switch or something that is supposed to be moved before cranking it down? Please help.

Not that I am aware of. Ummmm did you store the door?? all the slide out etc. Mine goes down as long as i have the internal and external doors up, and all the lide outs and folding feathers stored.

What kind of adhesive did you use to fix the seal?

A marine grade waterproof silicon. However it did fail but I think that was a failure of it to adhere due to the seal being old a expanded. Im ordering a new seal of pop-up parts.
