The more things change the more they remain the same?
17 years ago there was a sense SUV’s were about to take over the world, and back then consumers were paying a premium for off-road technology they would never use.

I used my Select Trac 4wd on my 2004 WJ for the first time in many years just to get out of some snow and mud here in Dallas. I'm definitely grateful I had it. I love this Jeep.

$300 for a 2002 Laredo, with 150k'ish miles, that was in need of a water pump & 2 tires. Got you all beat.

$2500 for a Limited, 4.7L. 214k miles. However I just had to spend $2600 for a whole new rear axle and a waterpump.

Crazy to think back then a loaded Jeep Grand Cherokee was around $50k and 20 years later a loaded Jeep Grand Cherokee is still around $50k. Prices for the Grand Cherokee haven’t seem to increased a whole lot in 20 or so years.

I ah e always had Subarus but recently got a 1999 wj with the Quadra drive system it’s own quit a bit here and so far love this jeep

Same. I've had my 2004 since 2007. I'm closing in on just 120k miles. 4.0 I-6. I still love this car and have no plans to change. 😁

On the other hand WJ forums will swear by the 4.7 and specially the HO. Usually maintenance and preventive maintenance goes a long way in keeping them alivr
