Its pretty simple if you look at it from the first episode. Yujis soul was the only things capable of completing suppressing Sukuna. Within moments of being incarnated, he CASUALLY took away Sukunas freedom. Whats worse is that to Sukuna, this is just some random, ordinary kid that had no business intertwining himself with someone likw him. Yuji Itadori humiliated Sukuna, and even Yuji has no idea of the gravity of his existence. Sukuna is pure evil, regarded as the strongest and if he incarnated, would balance the levels of power in the Jujutsu world, as Gojo was on top of it all. But for some ridiculous reason, all of that was put on halt because of Yuji. He was incapable of enacting any of his desires and living the life that "the strongest" would inevitably live. The only things that mattered were his pleasue and displeasure, and he was prohibited from doing what he wants....because of this kid. This mere mortal with no ties to the jujutsu world, without a cursed technique, who was actually able to look down on Sukuna because he was incapable of taking control and to top it off, was willing to throw away his life to kill him. Sukuna was at risk of getting his existence, his power and reputation, lost in all of history because of Yuji Itadori. But thats one side of it. The other side is Yujis disregard for his power. I believe as well that Sukuna sees incredible potential in Yuji, something to even rival or surpass him, and not through speculation, but by knowing what Yuji ACTUALLY is. First thing that is apparent, is that Yuji has a formiddable soul. One strong enough to suppress a 20 finger Sukuna. This is a CLEAR indicator that Yuji is NOT normal, and im sure we'll get an explanation on that soon. Secondly, Sukuna mentioned that surpassing the concept of strength means taking a hold of your desires and dreams and burning them completely to a cinder. Unironically, Yuji Itadori did just that by dedicating his life and his power to just do one thing: kill Sukuna. "Id eat anything to kill that creep", those were Yujis words. I wonder who else abandoned their humanity in the pursuit of power? Which leads me to my conclusion is that Sukuna sees himself in Yuji. Be it through his upbringing or his mentality as a human that led him to become the king of curses. A part of him wants to see how far he would go what he will become. What he possesses. What this kid can possibly do in the face of such great power? I think well get that answer very soon. Above all, i believe that Sukuna sees Yuji as the end of his existence....subconsciously at least. The one that can permanently put him down, and perhaps, present himself as a legacy to the King of Curses power....if he would just take pride in it and stop seeing himself as a cog. And Sukuna is not willing to die against someone who sees himself as a cog in the Jujutsu world. Its too disgraceful to him. But hey...all speculation at this point.

I always struggled to understand why Sukuna DESPISED Yuji, something he did not display for nearly anyone else in the series. Sukuna doesn't despise Gojo, even respecting him in some way at the end. He shows some for of care for kashimo in his own twisted way at his end. But Yuji, someone so ideologically opposed, not attempting to surpass him but overwrite his truth, is disgusting to him. This was an extremely eye opening angle, great vid!!

I always viewed Yuji as being extremely selfishly selfless. As Mahito said, he saves people without a second thought, not because of some moral code or grand design. But because it validates him, it gives him a purpose in life, he is someone who saves people the same way Mahito is someone who kills people.

10:46 I love the theory that Yuji’s grandfather saved him from cursing him because so far, it’s been a repeated pattern with Nanami & Nobara too. Yuji was selfless enough to defend them always, and they repaid the favor. I’m starting to think his grandfather lived a very isolated life for selfish reasons despite having a gift to help others perhaps. He did warn his son about Kaori so that adds to it as well.

here’s my idea about Yuji and Sukuna’s curses: Yuji was cursed to die surrounded by friends, a curse of love from his grandfather. This causes him to experience misery. Sukuna was cursed to die alone, a curse which led him to become so strong that no others could compare or understand him.

There might be a deep reason why Sukuna has almost no interest with Yuji. To start off, one of the main themes of the series seems to be about selfishness. Yuji is a representation of selflessness while Sukuna is all about being selfish. Sukuna was an unwanted child but had a desire to survive and achieve HIS own goals. Yuji on the other hand, was born loved but wouldn't hesitate to throw his one life away for others. Heck, his own goal to help others so that he wouldn't die alone wasn't his to begin with but rather something his Gramps dropped on him before his passing. You could even say it was a curse. Not to mention Yuji was contempt to dying once he reached his goal of consuming all of Sukuna's fingers. It's even more apparent when Yuji currently has the mindset of being a cog. It's another reason why Sukuna doesn't give a crap if Yuji dies even if it inconveniences himself. Long story short, if Yuji doesn't cherish his life then Sukuna will treat him as such.

Sukuna: Kills because he wants to. Yuji: Saves because he wants to.

It feels like Yuji is an altruist and is not afraid of giving up his individuality to become a cog in the machine of slaying curses. Sukuna is the most selfish character, but along with that, he loves individuality. I think that’s why he loves the thrill of combat and even respects his opponents after death. One being the most selfish and one being the most selfless CANNOT exist in real life. Hence, I think that why Kenjaku stated that he hoped Sukuna and Yuji would get along. Both contain such extreme ideals that it usually is an incredibly destructive way to live

I believe we see why Itadori poses a threat to Sukuna in Yuji's fight against Mahito. The narration states black lightning does not choose who it blesses- so that begs the question: who does? You do. We see Aoi Todo literally force himself to keep up with the two fighters that have already used black flash by asking himself if he'd be alright, leaving his brother alone again and he catches up. Itadori takes this up a notch by doing something no sorcerer should be able to do, which is use it at will. Yet to Mahito, Yuji seemed able to do just that. This is because both Yuji and Sukuna don't seem to care about limits of any kind, they don't even notice them. Yuji commanding black flash at will and Sukuna "painting without a canvas", they're both individuals with unyielding wills to do what it is they want to do. One wants to destroy and the other wants to save. Yuji is just starting his journey and Sukuna has been directing his for some time so the difference in their power is night and day. But much like there can't be two six eye users at the same time, there can't be a Sukuna and a Yuji alive at the same time, one will snuff the other out.

Yuji symbolizes infinite potential and the human ability to evolve and grow. This is seen as the first time Yuji and sukuna fought, Yuji couldn't land a blow. The second time when sukuna got his own body, Yuji surprised him when he actually got a hit on him that did actual damage.

ive noticed that the characters that held the strongest title were true to themselves and their ideas. mahito was also true to himself and his growth was crazy, if he didnt lose he wouldve maybe surpassed yuta, not only that but i feel mahito was supposed to be a king of souls. Who knows maybe yuji will be that king instead. he is learning about, and has a better understanding of the soul than most characters. kenjaku was also hinted at having a strong understanding of the soul. he talked to mahito about souls infront of almost sealed gojo, has a body swap technique, and he made Yuji in the first place. im probably stretching this info i havent finished the manga but king of curses vs king of souls sounds fun

i feel like one of the main reasons sukuna despises yuji so much is the fact that he has so much potential, but he doesn't value or cherish his life at all and is letting himself get tied down by always wanting to help and save others. sukuna is the type of person to not respect someone who can't respect themselves.

We still haven't had the big reveal of what Yuji really is and his lineage is still questionable as well. Unpopular opinion but i think Yuji is going to get absolutely rocked in this fight against sukuna, his mindset just isn't there. For example, gojo and sukuna were able to relate in battle purely off a standpoint of strength because both of them are such power-driven individuals that they come across as completely insane sometimes, and they relish in the power that they have. You can tell just by Yujis mannerisms that he still sees his power as a curse and hasn't made any effort at coming to terms with it. He will just do anything to kill sukuna as he still sees that as his only purpose, but how can you become enlightened if you're blinded by rage? That's why i think Yujis going to die and come back again, Yuji doesn't just need to have the power to save people in order to beat sukuna, he needs the power to stop threats and danger from existing in the first place to even have a chance of beating sukuna. He needs to be a beacon just like gojo, but right now he's just obsessed with a singular goal that revolves around a singular person and i honestly see that being his downfall. Personally I think he's just going to throw his life away at an attempt to help everyone beat sukuna here but it won't be enough, but when he wakes up again maybe he'll awaken his true ct and maybe that new power will cure his obsession with doing anything to kill sukuna and act as a refuge for his remaining sanity (kind of like what happened to gojo after his revival).

One more thing i caught was that sukuna said he was an unwanted child, which probably means he was unplanned, meanwhile yuji's birth was the culmination of kenjaku's 1000 year plan and experience

the jjk world is on a never-ending cycle of clans fighting for power and curses. Remember that in every era in the jujutsu world a successor will be born to inherit a deceased member's technique(six eyes and mahoraga as stated in the anime) but Yuji and Yuta are anomalies that exists in the same era because they don't belong to a powerful clan and yet have the most potential in beating the strongest in every era.

Now that we have that concept i wanted to share with you a theory hundred i thought of as to the nature of Yuji's CT as its indulgent yet empathic nature might with this truth more solidly Basically its a more empathetic version of Idle transfiguration but it also explains why yuji can seemingly swap bodies (With that just being a side product of the whole truth) What if Yuji's cuursed Technique is that he can move around properties of a persons, his own soul or Mine/extract essence from peoples souls So for example if Yuta can copy a fire technique from a person Yuji can copy the combustion element of that technique and apply it to his punches but its most basic form is soul body swap but thats like the equivalent of moving a rock around from one room to another the rock being the soul but he can also break the rock down into its raw elements too If someone did a domain expansion on him he could avoid or negate it by swapping the markers of his soul with that of the caster mid domain since technically in a way domains connect the caster and users soul so when it fires its sure hit it doesnt read yuji as a threat but the user as a threat yuji can copy the way cursed energy flows between different people like say Yuta CE is more calm , and Todos is more aggresive and he can shift his own flow to mirror theres increasing the chance of a black flash coming out or make doing various energy techniques easier to do out its similar to mahitos in a way which would thematically be consistent with yuji can he could apply it in the way he needs without it being outside of his style Like Yuji could just punch a person and his CT works it doesnt require much output and can be subtle Yuji is a physical fighter a simple idiot/genuine genius type guy its all about talent he can just punch a person and his CT works and it can work subconsciously based on his desire. if he wants to understand a person mid fight his CT will activate and will work in the way he desires it to If we got like really really OP with it the CT would do some shit like learn peoples fighting styles yuji exchanges blows and just adapts into his Opps fighting style perfectly because he took the flow of their soul WIth this he could connect with a soul and understand the method and reason of ones own existence better

Re-reading the manga with some spoilers in mind Gege is a genius. He's literally planned ahead so far from the beginning it's actually insane. I truly believe that Yuji's grandfather, did curse him, he's been incredibly selfless since. The flashbacks to Yuji compared to the kid we see now are opposites entirely. Even more so, if you pay close attention he only said that he joined the Occult club just because they were too afraid to go do hauntings. Versus now he genuinely cares about everybody he comes across and wants to help them biggest example I can think of is Junpei.

Mahito's philosophy sucks. He's making one giant argument from hypocrisy. "I'm right to do bad things because other people do bad things". Dumb argument. Completely ignores the actual subject matter: right and wrong. Justified vs unjustifiable. He's too cowardly to face reality. That's the cowardly reality of all villians. They have a deep need to believe that they're right, that their evil is justified. If they accepted who they were, they would accept that they are wrong. Unjustified. A slave to their own anti social impulses unable to consider morality. Yuji in his fight vs Higaruma. He accepts that he contains evil. That, at times, his impulses lead to objectively bad outcomes and he doesn't always have the power to stop that. Can Mahito deal with that truth? No, of course not. Sukuna is vastly more interesting because he's more self aware than a character like Mahito ever could be. Sukuna sees his own evil and embraces it for what it is. Yuji sees his own evil and rejects it on principle.

I was just thinking about something that I never considered which was very strange. Seeing as Kenjaku is Itadori's mother whats to say kenny wasnt also his great grandmother and great great grandmother. Kenjaku may have gone back far as the end of the hien era and has actively been nurturing the Sukuna bloodline and tampering with it for generations. This could serve to both attempt to create the next evolution above humanity using Sukuna as a case study or at the very least a tool such as a lightning rod to aim or control the path of Sukuna. It seems to fit to well to not be the case, but id love to get your thoughts on the subject of Itadori and the conception of him through Sukuna and Kenjaku's generational game of cat and mouse.

I get what they were going for with the whole I am you thing, but I simply don't buy it. The philosophy of killing is that it is morally justifiable in self defense or to prevent greater evil. We all know this subconsciously, but it also makes sense logically. Moral agents should be allowed to exert their free will to as much a degree as possible until it begins affecting other moral agents. This is like 1st grader level philosophy. Even children understand the golden rule. It is obvious to see that Yuji doesn't want to kill anyone. Curse, human it doesn't matter Yuji would prefer if nobody dies. The harsh reality is that evil beings still perpetrate evil. Maybe in a thousand years Mahito would learn that killing is wrong, but how many would die to get there? It isn't fair to sacrifice millions of innocent humans for the sake of saving one evil curse. Yuji must make the choice by taking the lesser evil or rather committing a Necessary evil act in order to protect something important. Mahito says Yuji exorcises curses without thinking, but he fails to take accountability of Yuji's actions. Yuji would never exorcise curses if curses never posed a threat to humanity. If a person was cornered and protecting their family. Then faced with the tough choice of killing their aggressor or allowing them to slaughter their partner and child, Every single person would choose to kill the attacker if they had the power to do so and they would be morally justified in making that choice. Yuji has that power and it is the role he has been given in life. Kill curses. Don't you think the thousands of people that died in shibuya would have wanted to kill Mahito if they had the strength? Yuji should solidify his resolve for them. It isn't his choice to kill Mahito, It it his duty. Yuji is not like Mahito in the slightest. He goes against his will. Yuji is a pacifist by nature forced to become a warrior. Mahito is a mindless and depraved sadist.

Hundred this was a great video. I do think you can become a little bit more exciting with your story telling. I recommend you study Totally Not Marks long form content or J aubrey. The information was great but the delivery could be a lot more enthralling. It felt like you were reading purely off a script which is fine and normal but its more exciting if you make it fun to listen to. I don't really know how to communicate the specifics of my critique so I'm sorry if I confuse(d) you. Just remember to be yourself and never stop moving forward.

Yuji is also half a curse since he's Kenjaku's kid. Kenjaku has plans for him but Yuji does pull a 180 and becomes extremely strong after losing all his friends, and we'll find out how strong and how much he's grown in the next few chapters. Also Kenjaku's not really killed even if he loses Geto's body, so I'm wondering what his next plan will be. Who will he take over? Or try? Sukuna wants to kill everyone, Yuji wants to save. It'll be a 1v1 fight until Yuta can help or become the next main villain (but I doubt that). It'll probably end with Yuji killing Sukuna and Yuta killing Kenjaku. The duo will be the strongest sorcerers to ever live unless some shit is pulled and Yuji ends up dying but happy that he saved everyone and Yuta following Gojo's footsteps in his own way. I have a feeling that Yuta will use Yuji's power as well or that Yuji will use Yuta's.

Its simple Yuji was present Sukuna who changes and Sukuna was his past. Recent Takaba chapter foreshadows it.

Lately media and opinion pieces in general have seemed really dull to me. I feel like everyone just pumps out content with only half an idea cooked bc most of us will watch anyway to get more connected to our favorite media. That said, this video is super refreshing and pointed out a lot of aspects of this show I hadn't even considered. The fact that Mahito, despite his growth thru the show, was ultimately a static character; that his ideological differences with Yuji aren't spurred by some life event, they're his nature. That Yuji grew past him as a barrier to strength only makes the stakes that much more substantial for an eventual matchup between him and Sukuna, and I wouldn't have really caught that without this video. Your pacing and clarity are really on point and you wove in just enough direct explanation of the story without making the entire video into a recap; it was the perfect mix of base material and conceptualization. Your explanation actually enhanced my experience with this media and that's everything a fan is looking for in a theory video. Thank you for doing your work to such a high degree!!!

I feel like alot people dont realize just how important having sukuna out of yujis body and this one month break timeskip is for yuji and the rest of the characters is 😂😂

Ik that Mahito character can be annoying but I loved him.. even though he was causing the deaths of all the good characters but he still gave comic relief and probably the most creative fights I’ve ever seen. And with his philosophy being what destroys him in the end wraps up his character amazingly. W show.
