A coal train blocked the main track of Howie Siding and 9,000ft long CSX Q616 and intermodal Q194 had to pass on side track. The dispatcher in Atlanta did a great job to get all this perfectly timed. It takes years of training to get a dispatcher well trained. They make it look so easy, (Most of the time). Thanks as always.

That's right and even a railfan notices the differences between good and not-so-good dispatchers quickly.

That is one huge train..At 642 axles that comes out to approx 156 cars..Nothing you'd see here in the New England states...Just to big..Surprised it only had 3 units moving all that weight. Nice video, great angles. Thanks for sharing

+rich sheehan Yes, some of the trains are big; the biggest I've seen was more than 10,000 ft long. Occasionally, trains are longer than the length of the sidings which is a fantastic challenge for the dispatcher if there is traffic from the other side. This indeed can result in some exciting maneuvering. I've watched this once.

Nice to see long Q616 with DPU. Is it sometimes even longer than the siding track?

Yes, there have been trains through here that were longer than the longest siding on this line.

I took that coal train to the plant last week 130 cars 2nd engine had crank case failure

I think that's a hydraulics shop in Colbert. They also have a plane that looks to be going straight into the ground there.

+Adderall vs Well, the frequency of trains is rather small and there is space in the sidings when they meet.
