This time we are upgrading the turbo on Shulman's 1JZ 240SX, he had a turbo that was way too big for the application. Which caused terrible turbo lag. Now we are switching it up to a Garrett GT3076R that is the perfect size for this engine and power level. In this video I will show you what it takes to install one of these in your driftcar.

This is the video i needed! I have a 3in turbo outlet and a 2.5in downpipe and i was skeptical welding on a new flange but this video gave me the confidence!

Nitido me hubiese Gustado ver como soldaste para rellenar en gap ese nunca eh rellenado tanto como mucho 1/8 de pulgada debió de ser difícil Nice video I would love to see how you manage and technic you use to fill that huge gap I barely fill like 1/8 of am inch in my life with weld and was not easy but I use flux core that's not helping lol keep it up bro you close to 200k congrats alberto

EL DIESTRO DIY no es tan malo. Hay que tener buen control de temperatura y timing. Es como soldar dabs en zig zag. Manteniendo el ritmo para que quede parejo y uniforme. Si calientas mucho se deforma el flange o se corre la soldadura un poco. Si esperas mucho se enfria y no tiene buena fusion y queda muy superficial.

I would think you should’ve took off the exhaust housing before grinding it down for welding so no metal shavings would get into the turbo

Why not use the 3-4” adapter and cut it in half

because its a 3 to 4 inch adapter? if you cut it in half it would be 3 to 3.5"

Probably being is the BorgWarner is a 3.5” outlet. And as Alberto mentioned it would have extended the downpipe too far

Ideally for the power level I would had gone with 3” exhaust. Much better response with much more back pressure

Noob question but When changing the turbo from stock to the Garett did you have to change the ecu?

Justin M Just need a tune on stock ECU. Different flow rates. More air that the ECU needs to manage and also means more fuel. Probably shouldn't be changing turbos if you don't know what all comes with it, WAY more than just slapping it on.
