As a metal head And hip hop head I think this is a poor introduction for somebody who’s relatively new to the genre, I’d recommend duality and spit it out, it’s got a hip hop feel the way Corey Taylor delivers his lyrics, also “the devil in I” is a better display of corey’s vocals as far as his time with slipknot goes. I’d also recommend the song he did with Tech N9ne “wither”

They do have whole songs where he sticks in the "smooth" vocal range. Snuff and Dead Memories, or Through Glass and Hesitate by his other band Stone Sour. Give Pantera a listen. They’re a style of metal called “groove metal”. They’re definitely different but in a really good way. Nobody sounds like them, and they have the best metal guitar player around. The songs “walk” and “I’m broken ” are immediate stand outs. “five minutes alone” and “regular people” are great songs as well. They’re full of provocative bars as well. You probably heard they’re song “walk” before.

"Duality" is a better jumping off song for Slipknot. Vermillion and Snuff are also excellent. It takes training to be able to scream like that properly and not fuck up your vocal chords. Often they're not even using the chords so much as false chords.

I'd always recommend lyric videos to newbies to metal music. Makes it easier to understand obviously and can make it more enjoyable as a result. When you can read along you can hear it - until you become accustomed to the style, it's far easier.
@rickandrulotjr.13413 жыл бұрын
I definitely respect your opinion. I kinda wish you’d do a lyric video for the hard rock genre. I’d be interested to see you do a bar breakdown/lyric breakdown. While some lyrics are straight forward, Corey Taylor of Slipknot can be pretty dynamic with his writing. I have a feeling that’s why whoever on patreon probably wanted you to do Slipknot. I only listened to hip-hop growing up and Slipknot was one of the first hard rock bands I listened to, because on their first album there was points where Corey will kinda rap parts of his verses.
