My 11 year old son just completed his open water. We did a daddy son dive after his last check out dive. I love diving, I do it for work. For him to take interest and complete the course filled my heart. But that first dive we did will always be in my heart. He got my attention during the dive and gave me the biggest hug. I will always treasure that moment.

@@silverspector1400we can’t see that there are no weights in the bcd but we can see that there is no air in the bcd so I’m sure that’s what he is referring to… letting him jump in with a deflated bcd.

I am also 13 and just got certified I look like such a penguin when I got certified I was doing a lake dive and that 6 feet felt like 6 miles nothing made me more glad when the weight was off in the water

I’m 14 and im naui open water certified for 60ft and I have 15 dives under my belt. I just recently dived the Florida keys. I definitely recommend getting certified for every1 out there no matter what the age and it is such a great experience

I decided to take the PADI open water course so I could with my wife who is a PADI Rescue Diver. It took me 6months to complete the course due to a number of issues with instructors. After completing the final check out dive I did one post certification dive and that was it. I never dived again. That was 13 years ago.

@@RedPandaDP I don't want to I realised diving wasn't for me. Its too much hassle and cost too much. Not only that I am too old can't even carry a cylinder let alone walk with weights etc. My wife doesn’t want do it anymore and she has done more dives than I've had hot dinners

I love the water. Can go on deep sea fishing trips, be on a kayak in water deeper and rougher than most people would ever want to be on a kayak in. But the thought of getting in that water makes me want to throw up. I used to be able to swim in the ocean as a kid, but for some reason the older i get, the more my brain goes NOPE. Diving is one thing i really wish i could enjoy. But my body won't let me.

Not necessary BCD be filled with air, military diving is like that you're taught to save breathing air. And its super good it implies that you can fin and remain buoyant even without using BCD

Being too buoyant can make it difficult to keep a vertical possition on the surface. Also his SPG isnt tucked so its easier for the instructor to read it if needed

No please, it depends for example you can dive on your back when the diving platform is low or close to the water but for that case that's how we jump so the boy is Right. I believe the instructor is an ex Navy or seal....

I hate to be that guy as this is awesome but his bcd is supposed to be fully inflated before stepping in. The padi instructors should have made sure of that so as soon as he’s in he can lean back and use the bcd to float

Awesome to see this when it’s done right /WTH training. Base on what I see off the bat ( easy to be critical watching ) , diver is not streamlined, where is the second stage that I don’t see on any diver , cylinder could be to low not leveled correct, smb , dive watch etc . The little things count . Plan the dive, dive the plan All the best to all diver and dive often. 🤟🏽
