SUNMI, who firmly positioned herself as a matchless female solo artist drawing the most attention with her alluring and extraordinary interpretation of music and performances, releases her mini album “WARNING”.
The name of the title track “Siren” has two meanings like her single “Gashina”, making people imagine a beautiful mermaid in the myth seducing seamen and at the same time remind of the warning sound for emergency.
The visual and auditory images are everywhere in the title track in an elegant way. This song can be called a combination of SUNMI’s sensuous expressions that have described her own sensitive, delicate, fantastic and unique sensitivity through her music, performances and styles.

I love the idea that Sunmi is a siren that's singing. We hear her humming throughout the song and the way she's also singing in the choruses like how she's singing the lalalas is so trancing. I also love that there are sirens that play throughout the song and the mv. It gives the mv a nice touch. I also love that in the mv, we see the Sunmi who is clothed in red and the Sunmi who is clothed in blue, The same colors of the sirens, that's a really nice touch. I've always loved how retro not only the songs are but even the music videos. The concept and the way it's portrayed in here is so retro. The different sirens in her room and the one room where it's underwater, even the beginning of the mv where Sunmi is in a bathtub, and the multiple Sunmis is such a fun oldschool way of doing an mv

First Gashina where she was dumped by her boyfriend, then Heroine where she decided to be the one who writes her story, and then Siren, she is one is undecided if she can move forward after that relationship, but she is facing that it is time and she decides to overcome that relationship to be able to move forward.

I love Sunmi's style of kpop, all her songs are a lovely throwback to the music I grew up with in the 80s and 90s. And her videos are vibrant and full of colour.

To me the meaning of the music video is very simple. Self empowerment. If this fits the Gashina-Heroine narrative. It's about embracing your inner siren after the heartbreak to move on. Also another hint where she wore the headband "priority" shows that it's time to put herself first. Her being a demure person in general, she seems to be disgusted her own Siren, Queen, Princess (s) and Mermaid(s)? But they are always there to let her know she's more powerful than she think she is. The roses/her cage is also a symbolism of her needing to breakout. She doesn't need to be afraid because she has herself. It's about owning your inner Goddesses!

I really like how the intro vocals (the "ooh-woah-oh" bit) sound kind of like a literal warning siren. I dunno if that was intentional but drawing in both meanings of "siren" to get across the idea of her being dangerous is cool. Props to the writers for not restricting themselves to "fish lady" thematically.

darkstar2874 Exactly my thoughts! Pleasantly surprised that they included the warning meaning too. The intro probably did try to mimic a siren using a seductive tone (siren the mermaid) to the "beat" of warning sirens. It was so beautifully done and very subtle at that.

가시나-주인공-사이렌 라인이 레전드였지. 독기 품은 음기 가득한 여자 컨셉... 마치 복수라도 할 것 같이 굴지만 어딘가 슬프고 처절한 느낌이 듦. 이런 스토리를 선미가 표정과 퍼포먼스로 너무 완벽히 소화해내서 보는 재미가 있음. 냉한 비주얼의 선미와도 찰떡... 특히 선미는 룸펜스 감독 특유의 기괴함과 잘 맞는 듯해서 또 같이 작업해줬음 하는 바람이 있다 ㅜㅜ 날라리 뮤비 논란 이후로 안하는 것 같은데 난 그 뮤비 좋았단 말야... 이번 컴백 컨셉 잘 잡아서 또 전성기 맞이했음 좋겠음

Idols like Sunmi are really rare in the kpop industry, and that's a sad thing actually. Kpop's strong in terms of delivering killer multi-range concepts but some companies don't encourage individuality of the artist. Sunmi has always been a goof ball even since in JYP. The current company let her to do her own concept and that's get delivered very well since this is the proof along with Gashina and Heroine. She's not afraid to be herself and as a result, she's more likeable not only because of talent but as an individual idol.

yeah, it does have a deep meaning. Like the name of the song "siren".She constantly references being beautiful yet dangerous and that she is also pretty but will hurt him.And her first line of the chorus "getaway out of my face", really shows the meaning of the album(warning).

Yes ! This definitely ties in with wanting to be loved but fear of abandonment and splitting self sabotages relationships as you get intimate . For some people with BPD they will cling and for others they will get involved but leave before being left .
