It's because he has played so many arena games, along with playing every class. He knows what every class want's to do and knows what they struggle against and what they need to do, or will try to do in basically every situation. I'd assume it's not that YOU can't play Ele well but more so that you don't know what every class will do and will try to do and how to counter that. Knowledge is key in arena and it's the main reason Pika/Wiz/Jelly can do well with every DPS class and Absterge can do well with every Healer (Same with almost any top player really). Don't beat yourself up my man!

lava surge, thats been a thing for a long time now, flameshock has a 15% chance or so to trigger insta lavabursts. thats ele shams main source of damage

Its a passive for ele shaman called 'lava surge' BUT If you take a certain PVP talent, it STOPS 'lava surge' from making lava burst instant cast & instead makes lightning bolt to do more damage and cast faster :)

I'd bet that it changes pretty substantially based on partner/enemy comps. At least that's how it was for me, never spent more time in my talent tree than I did playing ele lol.

??? Why whenever someone watches someone else play a spec pretty well do they ask for nerfs. Compared to quite a few specs shaman is far from at the top of the list to be nerfed. Unlike dh and ret, ele damage actually isn't easy to get off and is very easy to counter.

quit df in season 1 cuz they reworked spriest for too much instant spells and button bloat, spriest didnt cast enough? but this ele shit is fine? ah yea sure
