Try on forest nothing map and low population limit. It plays much better. Keep tweaking the settings if you have to till you find the sweet pot.

They are all in for one of them to get imperial first. Sometimes, the 2 nearest ones are also the ones send resource and endup most harrassed by player. In this case, they will be very behind in advancing

If I pick my civilization I should win every time. But when I go random I pray to get a versatile civilization with strong late game army composition.

You can beat 1 v 7, although it is easier on some maps than others. If you can get walls up before anyone attacks you then you have a good chance.

Play in the blackflorest scenario e make a ten fold wall on the straits until your army is ready, I've always played like this

Also I saw your vs 4 hardest AI vid fairly recently and I thought that was hard lol. When you play on custom scenarios, does your AI bug out? I play on Africa fairly commonly and the Chinese tend to be one of the few that make it to the Imperial age for some reason

Great questions! When I first discovered multiplayer I used to be obsessed with playing AIs more than humans. I spent countless hours practicing and analyzing how AI plays better than I. While at it I discovered that when playing multiple AI some of them fail to play as good as expected because their Ally AI stealed their sheep or fail to find resources due to bad map regeneration. I can assure you that AI difficulty scales based on map generation ( how close resources are) and whether they find food resources or not. So It is somewhat a coin flip for every AI to do their best. I honestly never tried custom maps but I know for sure that AI does not recognize several custom maps. Tell me when you create a custom map do you give AI food resources to queue villagers or change something like removing berries etc.?

GregStein - Age of empires 2 The map I played on is Africa. It’s like nomad, but you have to build a lumber camp first too. Like nomad, the AI gets stuck very frequently, There are berries, boar and some sheep on the map, lots of fish too, but no AI makes docks on this map, and only the chinese make it to Imperial

@@achannelname2839 That's it the AI is unfamiliar with nomad. Play regular maps where tc is already built.

Ai attacks highest point opponent. If they attacked you, defend it with all cheap troops, hold them, and hope your ally progress. Play in map that easy to defend and avoid open area map. If you play in open area map, you need high concentration and very fast unit.

If you play water maps, you must focus only spamming lots of galleys and upgrading them to gallions, use blacksmith (fletching, budkin, bracer) and university (balistics, chemistry) to make them stronger. Do not let them fish while you must fish heavily and make many docks .To achieve this you have to focus on taking lots of wood starting from the moment you click feudal age and do not lay down many farms focus on making fishing boats and galleys only no other army what's so ever. Vikings will be you best choice due to cheap dock 100 wood and cheap dock units, though they dont have fireships but the spam of cheap galleys with upgrades is more than enough.

​@@GregSteinAoE2 hey bro thanks very much for the help. but are earth maps with low water, however, when the hardest ai can't beat you with ground units, uses the sea and creates a massive amount of ships impossible's to counter, with all those ships, the ai destroys your city and then dominates you easily with ground attack units

I'm using a terrain mod that makes the game visually looking good. There are even better ones out there on Voobly. Search on my channel AoE2Tools to setup multiplayer with voobly. After that you must create a voobly account and login to their website then install any mod you want from this workshop www.voobly.com/games/view/Age-of-Empires-II-The-Conquerors/Game-Mods/gamemods/browse2/13/1 Once you install all the mods you find interesting. Open AoE2Tools program then click Voobly Mods Manager and from there you can apply all the mods you downloaded to your game to work in offline mode. In the future I will make a straight forward tool that installs mods directly to the game.
