Bayou Chicot is one of the best French bands, full of modesty and kindness. Eric and Isabelle Martin play the "old manner" violin duo (French Music) Gurvan Martin lapsteel, Guillaume Martin bass, Kenan Martin drums. With Bruno Catheline melodeon, Audrey Leymarie triangle and Michel Salmon guitar.

My brother in law was Cajun to the core: food, music and personality! Unfortunately he died young but he left three sons, my nephews. All of them did extremely well, doctor, financial and business owner.

I had a girlfriend lived in Cottonport. I had to pass through Chicot Park to go see her. Close to Bunkie. Almost 50 years ago. Great times!

Doug Kershaw is Cajun and didn't learn to speak English until he was eight. The record companies told him if he could do Cajun music in English he had a deal. And so he did. I glad this came up in the feed.

Its a long way from country music, its earlier than country comes from early French (Acadians) settlers in Canada when America opened up as a continent and river transport was all that was available and trapping for furs was a way of life. The French or Acadians came from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia area many spoke creole and followed the trails and rivers to settle in Louisianna beautiful, spirited music.

i don't understand the words but i love zydeco music. listened to it a lot on the car radio.it's foot tapping music. you can't stand still.

I see this Cajun fest announced yearly when I do my shopping in Saulieu. Never knew it was such fun. I will certainly join in next time. Those white cows are Charolais. They also organize a Charolais festival each summer in Saulieu.

I'm from Alabama Worked on boats in Cajun country for 6 years. Had damned good Cajun Friends , love south Louisiana, they were good fighters, and live to party. They are very tight knit and clanish. They don't take to outsiders easily. Got to love them. I also have roots in France !
