Last Hibs home game was 14,932 a bigger crowd than Luton will have v West Ham tonight, and with an average attendance of 17,427 it was better than Bournemouth and Brentfords in the so called best league in the world last season, it was also better than Wigan, Blackpool, Reading, QPR, Rotherham, Birmingham City, Millwall, Blackburn, Preston and Swansea in the English Championship

There may be just under half a million in Edinburgh itself, but it does not have any heavily populated urban areas joined onto it, or very close to it, unlike most English cities, or indeed Glasgow. Also, unlike Celtic and Rangers, (who have vast numbers following them from all over Scotland), there are relatively few Hibs fans from out with the Edinburgh area. I live near Stirling and for every Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen, or indeed Stirling Albion fan I know, there are at least 10 Old Firm fans! (Though there are a couple of famous Hibs supporting tennis players and most of their family from the area, who support Hibs and apparently Tottenham, Dundee and Scotland legend, Alan Gilzean, who grew up a bit further north, was a fan, not to mention Glaswegian Pat Nevin converting to being a fan of theirs!) However, I can't think of any other UK citiy as small as Edinburgh to have four league clubs, though admittedly two of them are pretty new to the league and have small followings. (There were 5 League clubs playing there for a while just prior to World War 2 though!) In fact, per head of population, the Scottish Premiership usually gets the highest top flight attendances in Europe and regularly averages more in real terms than countries with around double Scotland's population eg. Greece, Portugal or Belgium. For another comment, I did a bit of research and found that for Season 2017/18, not only did Celtic and Rangers get bigger average attendances than EVERY Greek Super League club, so did Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen! In fact Hibs in the Scottish SECOND Flight, the previous season to that, averaged more than every Greek club, except for Olympiakos! Also, they would have been 12th best supported Serie A club in 2017/18 (despite their ground only holding 30% of what it once did) and 11th best La Ligia one. (As would Hearts have been, whilst Aberdeen would have been 15th best supported in both those leagues that season.)

In the last 12 years, Hibs, Aberdeen, Hearts, St Mirren, Ross County, St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Inverness have all won domestic silverware, only 2 years ago Celtic never even won a trophy and St Johnstone won more trophies in that season than Rangers did....

Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen have each won their league twice as often as one of the "Dirty Dozen" clubs who tried to form the European Shit League a couple of years back, have won their one (Tottenham) and had won twice as many as Man City prior to 2012 and 4x as many as Chelsea, prior to 2005! (Incidentally, Aberdeen have won 4x, Hibs 3x and Hearts 2x the number of post-World War 2 ones as Villa.) Yes, no one out with the Old Firm has won the Scottish League for a good while, but Aberdeen (twice), Hibs (once, but close to twice!) and Hearts have had seasons where they finished ahead of Rangers in the League, whilst playing in the same division as them, since 2015. It may seem unlikely for a non-Old Firm club to win the League in the near future, but Leicester winning the English Title in 2016, FC Twente and AZ Alkmaar each winning the Dutch one just over a decade ago, or Boavista winning the Portuguese one just over a couple of decades ago, were all probably far more unlikely events. After all, the (non-Old Firm) Scottish clubs I mentioned all have far better form in winning Titles (12 between them), than the non-Scottish clubs I just mentioned (1 title between the 4 of them, prior to their most recent ones!) I seem to recall also, counting the number of occasions someone out-with Celtic and Rangers had finished in the top 2 of the League a while back and came up with the surprising figure of 78 individual instances (or was it 76? I can't be arsed going back and re-counting!), though admittedly, there were just 19 of those, where the top one was non-Old Firm! (I counted doublers as 2 separate instances by the way, eg. Hibs and Dundee being the top two in 1903, or Kilmarnock and Hearts in 1965. The latter a season where uniquely, none of the top four were Old Firm!) In the 16 seasons between 1979/80 and 1994/95, for instance, there was just ONE season where Celtic and Rangers made up both of the top 2. Admittedly, only 4 of those saw a non-Old Firm winner, though there were almost 2 others, with both Hearts in '86 and Aberdeen in '91, blowing it in their last game!
