11/29/18 EDIT: Santa Cruz's 2200 series C40LFs have John Deere engines and MAN axles, not C gas/ meritor axles; Santa Cruz's 9800 series D40LFs have MAN axles, not meritor axles!

I like the D60LFs. They sound like the D40LFs that Valley Metro recently retired.

In my opinion, I think the New Flyer buses from Santa Cruz Metro are the most beautiful ones I've ever seen in my life. I hope that when they retire and auction them off, I will be able to buy one of them. (I know that it's expensive to get them though...)

I have some bad news... santa cruz's new flyers don't have DPFs, which is why they sound so good, but this also means that due to stupid and messed up emission laws they will probably be vin stopped, meaning that they will be illegal to buy in california! just last night me and some other guys were thinking about helping save it too! I know, it's wrong and screwed up, and CARB is evil >:(

I realize that the DPF is from $5,000 to $10,000, but what if the bus was bought, but not driven until it is fixed to meet the Standard of CA?

the auctions will say "dealer or out of state only", so they literally won't even let you bid on them; not only that but "non-compliant" buses will usually have something major purposely disabled so that they won't run again, maybe even as major as a cut frame

Man, so many throaty buses! My favorites were 2102 and 9815! I know you got a ride on 9815 (checked that video out and was completely blown away!), but did you get a ride and takeoff on 2102? I certainly hope so!

nah i didn't get to ride 2102, but i got an awesome takeoff at the beginning of this video! I wanted to ride 2102 and looked out for it all day but kept missing it, but at least I got the VIN before it went out of service! And yeah 9815 was on a whole new level!

What makes the C Gas buses from Santa Cruz sound different than ones like at San Francisco Airport or Pierce Transit?

it could be because they were originally D35LFs and D40LFs, and were converted to CNG
