'Architecture on Canvas' is a series by Stonelam, in association with #Buildofy
The project, with a built-up area of 2,950 sq. ft., re-imagines dappled shade under the trees, informal kids play nooks, gardens with flowers, birds and butterflies, all lost to rapid urbanization, while being confined to a tight plot within a typical residential layout.
Designed for a young couple, the house attempts to transcend the small footprint on site and become a multi-spatial, sensory experience for their kids to grow up in.
Principal Architects Lijo Jos and Reny Lijo walk us through the volumetric design of this house of light, air and play.

Very thoughtful design by the architects. Each and every space is unconventional, elegant and has its own value. A perfect example of how an architect can bring life to unique spaces without increasing the cost of construction.

Usually neither the customer nor the designer are willing to experiment with the natural elements,minimalist designs for furniture and an open flowing house concepts for a relatively smaller areas which leads to an overly designed and crowded space for living.But I am happy to see such a beautifully and carefully designed house with a very natural flow of colours, sunlight and overall concept in a limited space without missing out on greenery outdoors as well as indoors..kudos to both the designers and the home owner..beautifully executed

great info and excellent execution, loved the video and house. They way they constructed cylinders and terrace to let in light is awesome. Lot of greenery inside the house is kinda off to me and house is so whitish yet I liked it, bookmarked the org name

Clever design. Raining light is an apt name. From a functionality standpoint, several comments have been raised by others: # storage spaces # mosquito nuisance # scary at night ? # etc.. I would add a couple more: # Security when one travels and leaves the house locked for prolonged periods ? # leakage from roofs, when there are so many skylights.. But, overall a bold and innovative design. All credit to the architects.

Some answers from my side: Mosquito nets are common these days. Indoor plants must be maintained properly to avoid or minimise mosquito issues. Else, they can avoid mosquito only inside rooms CCTV live videos can be accessed in mobile during Long vacation and security systems can be implemented (proper broadband internet connection needed).

Lijo Reny architects are famous for unique designs. It has become a practice for them to be quite different in their approach which make them a highly sought after designers of the country. They are different from the normal stream of commercialy inclined architects and they believe in putting their strong stamp in every design. They have a very bright future.

Lovely concept and interiors, but skylights are used for ventilation which is odd, it will put lots of pressure on air-conditioning and decrease energy efficiency
@rewatkargaurav3787
@rewatkargaurav3787 3 жыл бұрын
The house will need less air-conditioning because it is very well ventilated and plants inside to make a cool microclimate. Cold air enters inside the hose from ground floor. It gets heated up. As hot air has less density, it goes up and exits from the ventilation in the skylight.

Esthetically design is pleasing to eye's with idea of skyline and air pocket concepts. Though as a growing Family with Kid's didn't see the space for storage. Bedrooms r decent size, though there is no closet and if irs build up later the size will shrink. For entertaining there's no dedicated space. There's no study area for Kid's nor storage space for their essentials. Everything looks pleasing though my concern is - is it practical for a growing 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧
