The fact that he's actually engaging and actually asking her questions and also detailing his intentions is the highlight of this vid. While decorating, he had her needs at the forefront of his mind before his own personal aesthetics. This is what "communication is key" looks like, actually talking with the client, absorbing the things they say and applying them. idk if it's because I'm still new to this series that im so psyched by these seemingly standard points but it's still really fun to watch

I love this! Way more interesting than seeing expensive luxury homes of celebs. Also love that they only bought few new things, but the vibe is so different. I think it would be really nice to see more of these quick transformations with just few new/trifted items - which is what normal people can afford to.

I like that Erick talks us through his thought process. Showing him making a mistake with the first rug shows us it's also a trial and error thing. We sometimes feel like redesigning a room feels too much of an endeavor because we want it to be perfect on the first go but it's most often not the case!

I really like this design. I wish for once a designer would put books all in ONE PLACE with the spines out and in a useful organization! No rainbow organizing, whatever way the homeowner uses them. Scattering them all over makes it so hard to find your books!

I have to agree! That was my one qualm about it. Instead of adding the radiospeaker, cameras, vases - I wish he had kept the majority of the books on the actual floating shelves. That's what they're there for anyway. But everything else was beautiful.

This is a great idea for a series and he did a good job although it was annoying to see he didn't actually arrange the books that were there, she needed space for them to feel less crowded not to dissapear entirely. Ofc it looks good bc he didn't actually put everything back. As a book lover this just irks me 😂
@sarahwenger4479
@sarahwenger4479 2 жыл бұрын
He did incorporate a lot of books into the design, but usually you don’t want too much of one thing showing so I’m not thinking that he got rid of any, they might just now be stored different (ie in the console or in the file drawers)
@lisasmith8170
@lisasmith8170 2 жыл бұрын
i notice that in a lot of shows - : / if you love books, have a lot - please incorporate them into your design. It's the same vibe when you seen an entire house done but no tv in the living room, yet there was 1 'before'.

@elenasreadingcorner
@elenasreadingcorner 2 жыл бұрын
@@sarahwenger4479 but that's the thing, if you love books, you want to see them on display, the more, the better. And it's harder to make that look good and symmetrical, but not impossible, and for a designer it shouldn't be that difficult. Unfortunately all the houses I see made by designers have just a few table books on display but those aren't all the real books you have and read. I was really looking forward to see what cool thing he'll do with those books but he didn't actually do anything with them
@suetinz
@suetinz 2 жыл бұрын
He has left quite a few books on display; on the console shelves, the wall shelves and the cabinet by the desk. If you want more on display, you could definitely add more to any or all of those displays. I love books but I wouldn’t personally want them all out on display (and I don’t have space for a bookshelf) - instead, I display certain books and the others are stored away out of sight. You have to make choices in small spaces!

Now I'm in a two story, three bedroom three bath detached house with a large eat in kitchen, den, formal dining and living room, foyer, garage, front back and side yards and two huge walk in closets and I still feel like I don't have enough room for all my stuff. His explanations and rationale were interesting and helpful as well.

Love the ideas and touches however storage was the issue and that was not completely addressed….where did all her books go? Bare shelves are pretty but she had tons of books that needed a place

This guy is really good! The change is amazing. The drapes, longer shelves, work station move are game changers. Really enjoyed this. Sandi
