The Pardo 50 is a way more practical proposition. Has room to sleep 4 and 2 heads plus a tender garage.
@MrYachts
@MrYachts Жыл бұрын
That's just a subject statement because practicality varies from person to person. That said, I don't think this boat is built to be "practical" the way you imagine. However one could make the argument that all those extra features on a pardo are in fact impractical if you don't use them. For example, how practical is a grill on you boat if you don't use it? How practical are the cabins if you don't sleep onboard? What if it's just me and and my girl and we just want to go anchor and lay on the pad together and watch the sunset and blast back to dinner at 50 knots? how impractical is it to have a tender if this boat is the tender to your yach - does your tender need a tender? This yacht is made to be a Superyacht tender. The pardo isn't as practical as this one especially considering this boat is arguably better looking (however also subjective opinion). It's built to be what it is because that was the vision of the designer and the practicality lies in its intended use - alongside a 300 foot yacht and not as your primary yacht. There's levels to this game ;) and It wasn't built for "everyone" just like the Ferrari is not as practical as a Chevy Tahoe, or is it? ;)

Second, I almost would put this in the Magnum category that's how cool it is... Third, please someone talk Gio Theodoli from Magnum into a walkthrough of his 39'...model. Thank you, Sir.

Hi Saad, thank you for the feedback. I am also very much looking forward to review the 64. One of my clients owns one actually but he never brought it to Miami and instead left it in Ibiza. I am planning on visiting the shipyard this summer as well as Ibiza so I'm looking forward to being able to shoot it while I'm out there. Definitely want to do a shipyard walkthrough and tour too!

Grt beam width but 2.5 seems pretty high when compared to Prado and Van Dutch
@MrYachts
@MrYachts 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that comment. I suppose the only way to answer this is to remind you that build quality, engines, materials, and limited build numbers contribute to the price of anything that is built. Maori is a more more custom focused maxi-tender that is usually custom outfitted and rigged to the buyer's specification. This yacht happened to be built as a tender to a 95 meter Lürssen for the owner as a chase boat. Therefore as a highly customized and carefully hand crafted machine with high performance MAN engines that essentially make this one of the fastest yachts in its class she carries a much higher price tag. Not to mention she's built in Europe and the dollar is quite weak to the Euro at the moment. In Euros the boat is priced a bit more sensibly. I believe it is closer to €1.7m plus options. This boat had all the options including an additional sea keeper stabilization system and the upgraded engine package along with a slew of other add-ons. Frankly speaking, it is all relative. The VanDutch his a much less engineered boat, with balsa core, with a top speed of 35 knots, and has a very basic interior. The Pardo, is slightly more engineered, has a more sophisticated interior, and probably doesn't go much faster than 40 knots, if that. The VanDutch 55 is actually only slightly more than 50 feet, and the Pardo is a 50 foot boat as well. Comparing them to a 60 MPH Maori 54 HT is hardly a comparison at all. I'm not here to judge what is a good boat, bad boat or better boat as I was simply doing a walk-through video review, but it's like comparing a limited edition Lamborghini and it's outrageous cost to a Porsche. I like both of those cars BTW, and I like all three of those boats a lot for different reasons. BTW, did you know that Pardo recently acquired VanDutch? :) Also, if you're into expensive boats, perhaps you'll want to compare this boat to the highly acclaimed Wajer 55. They both sport a similar spec, quality, and price tag. I could talk about this all day (because I do lol) but I hope this was informative at the very least. Best regards, Nick

So since it is compared to Apple, then I take it when an engine goes down there is no fixing it. You just have to scrap it and buy a new one? I think I would just get an a Formula or another comparable yacht then have too buy a new one ever time it breaks.

What would it take to get this boat of 70 knots in order for it to keep up with American luxury center consoles?
@MrYachts
@MrYachts 3 жыл бұрын
The short answer is you can't. The long answer is undoubtedly via more horsepower, but that turns into the endless battle of power to weight ratio so it's hard for me to say with certainty if bigger engines would actually bring her top speed to 70+ knots. At least not without some modifications to reduce weight, but then we get into a price issue... Eventually you end up with engines that are too big for the boat and the weight cancels out the performance. And likewise if you then make the boat out of lighter material it becomes too much money for there to be a sustainable marketplace to sell them. So to me that's similar to asking how do you get the Lamborghini URUS to keep up with a Corvette z06. You'll have to build a new vehicle from the ground up and even then it will cost too much to be comparable... The American Luxury Center Console doesn't come close to the luxury of the Maori and that comes at a price and usually that is weight and volume. At the same time very few boats can compete with the performance engineering of American race boats or the luxury high performance CC, especially considering the CC is a hull with a top deck built out of lightweight material and lots of horsepower.. A comparable performance CC is going to weigh around 20,000 lbs whereas the Maori 54 is twice that. Like the 56 Nortech Sport CC which does in the neighborhood of 70 kt give or take, is around the same length, also has surface drives and cost similar to build but only has a a beam of 12 ft and weighs 13 tons. The Maori 54 has a beam of 17 ft and weighs 20 tons. I'm willing to bet if you slap an extra 7 tons on that Nortech she would most certainly go slower if not sink entirely. Sorry for the long answer but hope that helps answer your question.
@saadzein
@saadzein 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrYachts No worries at all. I appreciate you giving me a well-thought out and considered perspective. I fully agree with you about American ccs. They are too narrow and short on the full list of amenities. Obviously, the Maori (or the similar Wally tender) will have significantly more hydrodynamic resistance due to the increased water surface interface as well as weight differences from the American crop of high-end ccs. In a very interesting way, they are the same - central helm with wrap-around social space. The big difference is that it will be difficult to spend more than an hour inside the enclosed structure of an MTI or Midnight express!!! Having spoken about the Wally brand, I wonder f they will start using the Mercury Vorado 600 instead of the 450s.
@MrYachts
@MrYachts 3 жыл бұрын
@@saadzein I'm sure we'll start to see the 600's show up more and more. There's a lot of hearsay around them but I haven't had the change to review them myself so I don't have much to say about them other than if they do perform more than slightly better than the 450 hp model then I don't see why they wouldn't become the go-to setup for guys that want the baddest rig. It will all boil down to weight vs performance though. No reason to spend the $$ on a bigger engine if it only marginally outperforms. The real question is when are we going to start to see electric become common place. Nothing competes with the work and power of electric and we have yet to see it applied to the mass market int he performance sector. I can't wait for that 😎

It's a shame that you can't pronounce the name properly.
@MrYachts
@MrYachts 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, that's incorrect. Maori is an Italian shipyard founded and owned by Italians and it is pronounced exactly the way I pronounce it. It is not meant to be pronounced the way you would pronounce in reference to Maori people (The Māori (/ˈmaʊri/,[6] Māori. Instead, since Italian is a phonetic language, you pronounce each letter individually, and the two vowels a and o do not produce a different sound when written together. The only letters in Italian that produce different sounds when placed together are ch, gi, gn, gli, to name a few. Hope that helps clarify how it's actually pronounced.

"if you ever want to spend the night" is kind a dumb comment on 54' motor yacht. Exterior design is beautiful, but interior space is complete shitshow. Even rhibs with inboards of this size have two cabins inside and the same performance, and all these designers could fit in 54' motoryach was a half assed mattress that you have to assemble if you want to sleep there.
@MrYachts
@MrYachts Жыл бұрын
lol you don't need to be upset about it. that's just how they built it. saying "even ribs have.." is assuming RIBs automatically have full fledged cabins... That's incorrect, they have interiors because the designers designed them that way for their clients and built them. There are plenty of RIB with no interior. You may not appreciate it but it doesn't make it a bad boat it just might not be the boat for you. This boat really is not intended to be slept in. it just is what it is and I'm not here to judge them or say this is the best boat but I certainly love the design! Hope that doesn't offend!

@@MrYachts I was thinking more about your content. Shipyard can do as they wish with the design (although I am not sure they are going to sell any of these boats whatsoever, except for a few demo boats, when you have competitors like Pardo for example) but your job as a (serious) reviewer is to point out these flaws so that potential buyers can be well informed. Alternatively, you can do as you are doing now, be an instagram model and take cool photos of yourself with these boats while providing nothing useful for your subscribers.

OK I get it, you don't like the video. 1. You're right they haven't sold a lot of these boats. It might have to do with what you say actually and I'm not disagreeing with you. 2. Pardo/Fjord etc make a very good and competitive product and very useful for dayboating. 3. My job is not a serious reviewer. I am a yacht broker and I sell yachts. A lot of them. I simply made this video because I wanted to. Nobody told me to. Nobody hired me. 4. I genuinely like the design. 5. I actually slept on that boat at the boat show and my comment was an inside joke to those that knew. Now everybody knows lol. Lighten up pal :) .@@dvukovic

That is correct, it was designed as a maxi-tender, not as a live aboard or overnighter although the ability to sleep 2 people aboard is an option inside that cabin. If you like boats that are focused on more cabin space for cruising, then this would not be the right choice to buy. :)
