Aren't they beautiful together? Their friendship chemistry is off the charts! Found this concerning their relationship. "Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers were friendship soulmates. In fact, even though the pair were never romantically involved, they still regard each other as soulmates. "Kenny's friendship means more to me than our hit records," Parton once said. Actually, we're kind of like little soulmates." So happy you guys found this song. I hope that you get some rest, Amber. You look fabulous even though you're not feeling that well. Luca, take it easy on Momma. Thanks, guys. Take care and be well. Peace.

Just to add a little info; Islands in the Stream was originally written in an R&B style, intended for someone else, but not recorded (Maurice said it was for Marvin Gaye, Barry said for Diana Ross). When Barry was co-producing Kenny’s album, they reworked it for Kenny. After 3-4 days of singing it, Kenny decided he didn’t like it anymore, which is when Barry said it needed Dolly Parton. They called her, she came right over (within an hour) & the rest is history.

@@shawnsnow2655 Kenny had said that in interviews, but in a 2013 joint interview, Dolly corrected him (unfortunately, that link no longer works). She said, she was at her near-by apt., when Kenny's manager, Ken Kragen, called. Excited at the chance to work with Barry & Kenny, she jumped in her car & drove right over. Kenny said, I remember you getting there fast, within an hour & she joked (something to the effect) that was because she was already all dressed up & maybe now he'd quit teasing her about always being ready to go out in public.

On the Johnny Carson show, believe it is on KZfaq, he once said he would give a year's pay to take a look under her blouse. Crude yes, but everyone knew it it was said good naturedly. And Dolly burst out laughing. She could always laugh aling with everyone!!!!! she is so comfortable in her own skin, and is proud of it all. What a beautiful, magical, tolerant woman. Even more, what a beautiful soul.

You are such a trooper Amber…the last few days are exhausting aren’t they? My thoughts are with you. But what a great distraction right? They were such good friends , they sounded so unique together..always one of my favourite duets. The Bee Gees wrote the song, not sure if it was for them or not but you can sure hear their quality in it. Love, love both of them…great reaction. Go rest Amber!! ♥️

I had 7 kids in 9 years. (No twins) and the last couple of weeks seem like nine months it’s self. I even had some 3-4 weeks early and still seemed that way. Our bodies know us better than our minds do sometimes. May God bless you with a safe and amazing birth. Thanks for being a trooper

I was honored twice to meet her. Both times in Nashville. She always looked perfect -- just stunning. And the second time, she scared the crap out of me. In that particular restaurant, she wanted table number 42. Always. And I knew she was coming in with her then-current manager. So I was near the front door, but also trying to keep an eye on the bar and the restaurant floor. So I had my back to the front door watching the action, and I finally turned around. And she was, I would say, less than two feet from me. Even though I knew she had a reservation, I was blown away. She was gorgeous! But more importantly, she was lovely. It is hard to find famous personalities so genuine these days...~

You might want to do a Bee Gee's deep dive in songs they've written and those who've succeeded with them. Yvonne Elliman, If I can't have you is a good start. Also Dolly and Kenny were never an item. They were both extrovert and cheery by nature and the chemistry was just them to a tee :)

They did a few duets together and were best of friends. They admitted in interviews that there was chemistry between them, but they decided to stay platonic which was better because the chemistry stayed. You could feel it watching them. This is my favorite all time duet and I listen to it so often. This was the best video of it too in my opinion. RIP Kenny.

One of the highlights of my youth growing up in the 70s was eating dinner in an old farmhouse with Dolly and the Porter Waggoner Band.. She was loving and kind, unpretentious and her country upbringings shown through to all. Should I ever be fortunate enough to see her again I will ask her if she remembers that night.

When I was around 8 or 10, so mid-80s, Dolly had a prime time TV show. Kenny was a guest one week and there was a Q&A part of the show. Kenny asked what kind of questions do they ask? Dolly replied, 'Are they real? Has Kenny ever seen them? Does Kenny want to see them?" 40 years later I still nearly pee my pants liking about it. One of the funniest things a pre-teen boy could ever hear his childhood crush say. I LOVE Dolly forever!! More than a legend ❤️
