This is the 2 cell AA mini Maglite Pro, and it is a wonderful flashlight. My dad has always used Maglites, so I grew up with them and spent a lot of time using them. I have grown quite fond of their ruggedness and reliability.

That harsh blue color of LED is usually present in budget lights. You can get a much warmer light from an LED in a more premium light. This is a cool light but there are most certainly better lights out there today. Like the candle mode though that idea should be implemented in other lights!

I’m going to be looking at the Streamlight brand next. I will always have a soft spot for Maglites though.

@@hookandblade That makes sense they are a brand with a lot of history. I got the Weltool T1 pro TAC that uses a single AA or 14500 battery and outputs 560 lumens and 21,000 candela. It’s also a warmer LED than the cheap ones but it’s just that, not cheap haha!Great for edc but there’s so many other good lights out there too.

@@hookandbladehey I get you there. Maglites will always be around. For almost the same price as the maglite you have now, check out the new “Nitecore MT2A Pro at about $45.00. Comes with a rechargeable battery that won’t leak alkaline into the internals of your light and also make it capable of outputting 1,000 lumens (17,000 Candela). Without the rechargeable battery you can still use 2AAs alkaline in a pinch and still get 500 lumens for 2.5 hrs. Take a look at it! Great light 💡

It use to be also my favorite too, i still have one with the old halogen bulb. The reason why i did not upgrade it is because the cost of the upgrade kit is equal to a good quality chinese modern LED flashlight now. High lumens, can choose light colour, multi modes, better IPX rating….etc….

👍🏼I like those. I like the candle mode. I had one I hose clamped to a shotgun barrel. :) Clamped too hard, bent it and couldn’t get the batteries out. :( I have a big maglite in my truck. For a long time I’ve been using cheap “police/security” flashlights. Pocket clip, 3 modes and adjustable beam. I think you’re in Ohio so howdy neighbor. I’m in Indiana:)

Nickel Metal Hydride batteries don't leak at all. Or I've never seen that they do leak. And I do like the Mini Mag Flashlight as well. But the there is a lot better Flashlights on the market to buy. You don't have to need them? You don't like them?

Unfortunately maglite let the led market slip tok far forward by the time they caught up but as a light for long term preps they are great as they shouldn't be affected my a solarstorm or emp ,hence why I just bought one but I will also buy the led upgrades for it but won't install until necessary

You just have to remember to replace the batteries every 6 months or so, but I use them alot... Just cycle out those batteries

@@hookandblade Thank you. I imagine this is a huge inconvenience, as one needs both hands to twist it, possibly several turns. What’s your experience?
