My little brother and his best friend/cousin of 18 years have BOTH been called to serve an LDS mission in the Italy, Milan mission. Departing July 24, 2013. God is good. He is real.

Very touching! Over 30 years ago I served in the same mission (Canada Montreal) as my best friend (not cousin) and we reported to the MTC on the same day. When we got to the MTC, we learned we were companions! Fast forward to 2011, my son and daughter both get their calls within a month. You guessed it - they were both called to the same mission (France Lyon) and have even served in the same district! My daughter returns home in 10 days and we can't wait! God speed, Elders Pinnock!!

Ahh memories! I was called to serve in the Sydney Australia mission 2009-2011 and when I was six months out on the field, my older sister was called to serve there as well. She came when I was 1 year out and I ended up being her first district leader ever for her mission. Before she came out, my parents asked if it was okay that I (her brother) was going to be in the same mission, and all our stake president said was “Maybe she’s sent there to clean up her brothers mess.” Haha. It was partially true because she ended up baptizing two families that me and a companion found when I was still in training! Such a blessing to be able to serve alongside my sister.

My sister and brother got their calls the same day, to the Italy Padova Mission and the Italy Catania mission. A year later, the Padova mission was dissolved, split between the Rome mission and the Milan mission. My sister went to Milan, her president to Rome. 2 months before my sister came home, I got my call to the Italy Rome mission! I left two weeks after she got back, and had her mission president for the first year of my mission.

I remember watching this a few months ago now, what a great heritage, their grandfather was the mission president of the Pennsylvania Mission. He was a great man and I imagine he is smiling and so happy to see his grandsons going on missions. how exciting that they both are called to the same mission. This is wonderful!

I am so overwhelmed at these cousins and their calls. I, too, was called to the Italy Milan mission. I report to the MTC on May 1st. These Anzianos (Elders) are already so amazing. I can see their excitement to serve already. I cannot wait to meet them! Auguri Anzianos!

My husband was a missionary while Pres. Pinnock was the mission president in Harrisburg, PA. When we became engaged, we asked if he would perform our sealing in the Salt Lake Temple. He agreed to and before our marriage, Sis Pinnock and Pres. Pinnock met with us at their home and gave us awesome counsel and love! We were married 6/23/78. We LOVE the Pinnocks. My husband is wanting to know which sons are the dads of these two blessed elders! Love to you, Sis. Pinnock and you look great!!!

It is SO exciting and comforting to be able to prepare with a beloved family member :) Just a few more weeks until we are in the MTC!!! HURRAH FOR ISRAEL!

Congratulations, Elders! I will leave you with the same advice your grandpa left me and my husband when he performed our sealing in the Jordan River Temple on June 27, 1986..."Don't ever wear matching shirts"...Be YOURSELF! ( Ha!! A little difficult as missionaries!) Best Wishes!

I had three months of overlap with my brother, so I wouldn't have been able to see my brother and best friend for almost four years. I was serving just across the mission border from him when he finished, (I was in Francavilla al Mare, he was in Bari,) so when he finished (Christmas 2003,) we got special permission for him to come up to my area and go on splits with me on Christmas day before touring Italy with my family and going home. I remains one of my favorite memories of my life.

Elders Pinock, My son just received his Eagle after his project was vandalized 3 times. He now, is working on the paperwork for his Mission. He turns 18 after he graduates. My husband & I are 1st generation Members & were it not for unselfish young people such as yourselves & my son, I shudder to think of how many lives would be lost. So, GO FORTH & LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE!!!

Federico, when we volunteer for a 2-year mission we have no control over where we are sent. There are over 400 missions spread out all over the world. You can imagine there is great anticipation and excitement over where you will be sent. It's a very emotional thing, especially if you're sent to a foreign land that you are not familiar with and don't yet speak the language. For 2 cousins called to the exact same mission and reporting for service at exactly the same time is tremendously rare.

As I sit back and watch the young men and women in my own ward get their mission calls, and as I watch my own children prepare (they are both in the YM/YW program), I can't help but be amazed at how AMAZING this generation of youth is. I don't believe there has EVER been a generation of LDS youth where such a HUGE number have been this prepared (and excited) to serve the Lord. It's truly incredible! God be with you, boys!

Ooohhh! So sorry!!! I'm very new to this type of medium &, in fact my comment to you was the first time I've ever commented on "You Tube." I didn't understand quite how it works, obviously! As a convert, I was just trying to be a "Missionary" myself since I didn't join the Church until WAY after I could have gone on a Mission! I'm glad to hear that you went on one! My sons have been raised to go, too. Hopefully, they'll all 3 do so! All I can do is keep trying but thanks for clearing things up!

They're both finding out where the prophet called them to serve as full-time missionaries for the next 2 years! Two years can be a long time for an 18-year-old. It's rare that 2 go to the same place. You apply separately, but it looks like these two are best friends and were called to serve in the same part of the world! It can be a very exciting and spiritual experience.
