Great man! Thanks a lot! I bet you are talented not only in analyzing and accurately judging flashlights, but in many other things as well. I‘ve got more than 400 of nearly all kinds of flashlights (..and lots of other semiuseless stuff 😂), but most of them I‘ve just turned on and off and never touched again 😅 Reasons are different, but the right assessment (like yours) could have spared me the hassle. ..and well yes, not only of the flashlights.. 😅😅

Love em both! Sign me up! Wait never mind...from 15k lumens to only 1000 lumens after 15 seconds? There's better 14500 lights that sustain more lumens for a longer period of time. Well I was excited at the start. Bummer.

SFP55 is a brutally hot emitter, but they really could have done a better job with the heat dissipation. Personally i'd get the Amutorch XT45 NB90.16 instead. Sustains 1800 lumens from a single 21700, and has a 10000 lumen turbo. Also only 50 bucks

What’s the best edc light that uses 18650 battery? I’m looking for the smallest.
@groundcontrol6876
@groundcontrol6876 Жыл бұрын
I'd just switch over to 21700 lights, they're literally the same footprint for practical purposes (you won't really notice the difference) and yet you get the benefits of a much greater cell. If you're deadset on 18650 though, then I HIGHLY recommend the Nitecore P12GT. It's still my favorite flashlight ever for EDC. Perfect form factor, perfect steps and output, perfect UI (in my opinion anyway). It kicked the bucket (not sure what went wrong, it's not the LED) and I eventually got the MH12SE which I see as the closest successor to it. I still prefer the P12GT's beam profile, as well as its tailcap cuz it can tailstand and I preferred the rubberized mode button vs the new metal ones, but this reply is already long enough and I'm not gonna get into the weeds. They're both insanely powerful and throw further than you're ever gonna need. If you're more of a flood type of guy, check the rest of the MH lineup, as they make different variants (If you see they have the same lumen output but way less candela/max range, then you know it's floodier instead of tighter). Hope this helps.

@@chuckles470s9 No prob, btw I’d stay away from the ones with just the side-switch (no switch on the tailcap) like the MH10 line. Having just one button for both operating the on and off and changing modes function sucks enough, let alone the fact that they switched to a metal switch instead of rubber that’s hard to find by feel. The “tactical” ones are better, since they have the side-switch dedicated to cycling through the modes, and the tailswitch for turning it on and off, so you can just quickly grab it from your pocket or wherever and instantly locate the button & turn it on with your thumb in a very comfortable grip (you can also do momentary on by half pressing it and it turns off when you release it). The MH12S is a great example, and they’ve been selling it at the nitecorestore paired up with the Tiki which is another amazing light (a tiny little keychain light that has no business being that powerful). Wish I would’ve seen it before I bought the MH10S, cuz it’s been collecting dust since I didn’t know how bad letting go of the tactical switch would be. It’s literally the same LED, performance and everything, but with the tailswitch. Then they released the MH12SE which is a lot tighter beam with more throw and less flood, and I got that and was happy to have the tailswitch back. I know Nitecore’s a bit pricey, but man, from the aesthetics, to the UI, build quality and performance, they are just perfect to me. I’d just take advantage of the MH12S + Tiki combo they’re selling, since I’m pretty sure you’re gonna be more than happy with the performance of both. The website’s a bit messy, but they’ve always shipped fast to me and been fast to reply.

@@chuckles470s9 LD30R from Fenix is pretty good. NOT a thrower and NOT sufficient for self defense but for around the house? Taking out the garbage? power outages? going to the bathroom, reading, fixing stuff, working under the hood, rummaging through bags,, backpacks, suitcases rucksacks, duffel bags, closets, cabinets, drawers, closets, in the tent, in the RV? It's perfect for that.

Surely high quality flashlights. But these super high outputs dropping to a fraction after only seconds is just ridicilous. The lumen race is just crazy and works because the most buyers are ignorant and think the more lumens the better. Just because it's possible to get 16000lm out of a 4AA sized flashlights it does not mean it needs to be done. It's heavily overpowered and neither the battery capacity or the heat dissipation is adequate for more than a very short time. And the life span of the LED will shorten a lot if regularly put on the highest mode.
