I always watch videos like this one, always something to take away from them. My personal favorite is too easy to bother with video: sinker, bead, and hook. Learned from In-Fisherman magazine in the early 1990's. You can go full caveman and skip the bead but it's a nice buffer for your hook/knot connection. I most often use a heavy bass casting type sinker with swivel but lead is soft, a combination of rubber cores or even a splitshot at the knot works too. Love it for live baits and extremely effective and efficient in adverse weather, tie and toss. With cut bait I do like the Santee type floats, easy on easy off. Nice post all the same, regards.

I'm fond of polomar knots, I find the strength of them hard to beat but their not always the most convenient to tie. Great video again!!

Does the fixed weight on the santee cooper rig lead to the catfish dropping the bait when they feel?, im getting ready to try this rig but wondering how well it works compared to using a slip sinker where they wouldnt feel it

I do prefer the slip sinker

Does the weight of the cut bait affect its ability to float? How to make sure my bait floats?

The best way to test it is in the water or in a swimming pool. I use it 2 inch peg float. Put 1 ounce weight on your hook to replicate the bait and see if it floats so it can give you an idea about how big of a bite you can use or how big of a float you need?
