2 Quick and Efficient Techniques to Remove Edge Fringe or Outlines from Cut-Outs and Masks in Photoshop! While making a selection, we often end up with an annoying outline or halo around the edge which disturbs compositing. Learn how to easily remove those outlines or fringes using the basic features of Photoshop.
In this tutorial, we're going to learn how to use the smudge tools to refine your edges along with some masking and selection tricks. Hope this tutorial helps you. Thank you for watching!

I can vouch for this comment. I dropped out of the Illinois Art Institute because their Photoshop course was teaching me stuff I'd already learned in my high school commercial design elective class. Save your money, and learn for free from these guys online.

Very talented instructor. Learned a lot and I love that the commands are zoomed in so we can actually see what is being done. The recap is such a plus. Thank you from Constance in Prescott, AZ, USA. This is amazing, thank you for posting. I've been able to get fine masks, but simply painting directly on the mask with brushes, feathered or not. But this looks much smoother and efficient. I hope you gain more subscribers. Thank you! My mask edges look so much better after applying your tips.

So good! One tip I use when I do contract the selection is to Hide the selection. The grey tinkling selection line disappears so I have a clear view of what I'm doing while working on the edges.

My favorite way of dealing with fringes is to create an hue/saturation adjustment layer. Set it to some dark brown color, or whatever fits best. Put a mask on it and then just paint over the fringed. Effectively what you are doing is that, instead of removing the fringe, you change the color of the fridge to something that makes it look like its a natural part of the image.
