2 fires near Ruidoso burns close to 20k acres overnight

Two wildfires, the South Fork Fire and the Salt Fire, that have been burning near Ruidoso and Mescalero have burned nearly 20,000 acres and roughly 500 structures have been impacted.

It is Alto Lakes not Alto springs but that is OK to not know everything .

@@frank-mp3bq The Fire is burning at Alto Lakes Country Club .If everyone were honest they would call them stock ponds because they are only about that size but there is an Alto Lake but I don`t know if that is burning or not.

Hey at least she pronounced Ruidoso correctly. That’s a rare occurrence. And Capitan too for that matter. Hearing people call it Ree-oh-doso makes me cringe.

@@Dwayne-mb2uj Used to go fishing at ALTO lake, don't know about the country club, alto lake is the town water supply so if it burns out they're effed. The last time ash and fire debris clogged everything up it was bad, locals still have high bills to pay for it

I almost couldn't watch the ski shop burn. (I confirmed with the previous owners that it had been there for 44 years!) Have many fond memories over almost 30 of those years in that place with my father and the original owners. About 99% sure our house we owned until 2018 just 1 mile down that road is gone too. Heartbroken! Prayers for all. Previous fires spared this area...

On another channel it show lines of trailers filled with horses leaving the track I don`t know about the horsemen.

@@Jared-fh4xs I just saw Ruidoso reported on by a UN committee saying this fire was a result of climate change and I saw another news course that said Ruidoso was the 2nd most at risk village in America due to being built in the forest.

Incompetence ,corruption, and stupidity ,not space lasers, mayor Crawford and his cronies taxed the he'll out of everybody but none of the money went to RFD, RPD, and it shows I was up there Monday morning, cellular went right off the bat, response was a shitshow, saw state police but no fire trucks heading into town, by the time they got organized it was too late. God bless the guys on the ground, but the leadership failed completely.

The cause is one concern, but more important is the way this fire South Fork Fire grew to over 14,000 acres in 24 hours. That is extremely aggressive fire behavior driven by climate change.
