Here's my take , they are both great bands , and I am a huge fan of both . My thought is that the difference is the fans and how they react . Not in concert but in small areas such as comment sections or tolerance to somebody having a different feeling or preference for something to do with the band's whatever it may be. In my opinion in looking at it from both sides I find that fan reaction to people's thoughts on something can make all the difference . Looking at social media platforms and reading comments , I have found that Band-Maid fans , not all , seem to be the least tolerant of others opinion . The knives come out if you write a comment with a differing opinion , and do not just lay down and agree to everything that is written by people who seem to believe that they know best for all . They act as if it's personal , in real life not in the "fandom" life , and that it's like they are all best friends so how dare you say something disagreeing with the group . They are talented musicians and I'm sure are great people too , but , they don't need to be stood up for . They are adults and can take criticism like adults . It's the fetishizing fans , and people who are like how dare you say that , she liked my tweet so we are besties and I'll fight you to the death ..... Get over it , not everybody is going to like the same things all the time but you certainly can allow somebody else to have their own opinion . I love both bands , for me it comes down to the fans.....

I consider Band-Maid to be the best rock band in the world, but there's no denying the incredible talent of Lovebites. Both are great at what they do. There's no reason to compare them, just appreciate the fact that both exist in our lifetimes.

My favorite band is Band-Maid. Lovebites are my second favorite band from Nippon. I saw Band-Maid at Aftershock and five days later in San Francisco. I had seen Band-Maid also in LA in 2019. Japan needs to recognize what great female musicians they have and how they are slowly but surely changing the face of rock music in very meaningful ways. Japan you could not have better ambassadors for your nation.

Lovebites and Band-Maid are two absolutely extraordinary bands. Both bands have outstanding singers and outstanding instrumentalists who produce absolutely fabulous music. The two bands also produce absolutely impeccable live performances. My favorite is Lovebites.

@@TheCyberMantis Believe it or not it's not how they dress or that they are female. They are incredible as people and as musicians. Best band I have ever heard in my 60 years. I think Lovebites are awesome too, I just prefer rock than metal personally.

I agree with most comments, Lovebites and Band-Maid are outstanding bands but different. Also, music preferences are so subjective, very personal. I love both bands.

Band Maid play music I prefer. They have a great stage show and are more 'approachable' as personalities. They have a musical library that personally I prefer. So the band I listen to every day. several times a day are Band Maid. As always it is down to personal preference. I would never say who is better. Just who I prefer.

Impossible choice. Like asking to choose between RUSH and IRON MAIDEN. These two bands top the list in their respective genres IMO. Really comes down to personal taste, I tend to gravitate more to traditional European style heavy metal, but love me some hard rock and BAND-MAID has go that locked down. WOLFPACK 🤘🐺🤘

I agree with those who say the comparisons are fruitless. But I appreciate your love for both of these bands. They are among the best bands of any genre, ever.

For me personally, Band-Maid is the more important one because their style is more original IMO, they have a wider range of different styles, and their music speaks to me a little more than Lovebites'. But both are amazing bands and luckily you can enjoy both without having do decide for one of them. By the way, you mentioned Fami as Lovebites' bassist which is correct, but let's not forget original bassist Miho who founded the band and has been with them until last year, and has played on all of their releases so far.

I love them both. Unless they're playing at the same time at venues across the street from one another, there's no need to choose and creating some kind of artificial competition in order to determine an arbitrary "best" is a waste of time. I would love to see them tour North America together (and actually come to Ohio, damn it!) but I'd rather see BAND-MAID tour with The Warning and LOVEBITES tour with Nemophila.

I'd rather see them tour with Maiden or Priest. They should be playing arenas with a seasoned headliner and get as much exposure as possible. Band Maid played to probably 15,000 people total on their tour. Maiden could get that in 2 shows easily..

LoveBites should not tour with any of them, they are the only true metal band of that group. i don't think putting metal and core bands together works.

As a Japanese person who has listened to music for 50 years, this controversy should be put to an end. lovebites is a band trying to get the highest peak in the new metal world by following the western classical trend. But BAND-MAID is only BAND-MAID. They are trying to conquer the world with BAND-MAID's music. It makes no sense to compare the two bands. To put it simply, BAND-MAID cannot be imitated by other bands.

I totally agree with U.. it's two different styles.. and as U say, one play very western based music (lovebites) and the other band (our maids) have more their own style, even though the last to albums have pushed them a bit more against western mainstream sound.. So yes.. they should stop putting them up against each other, because they are not the same.. Just like they put up Baby Metal against Band-Maid.. again.. noooot the same.. But all are super good artists with their instruments.. 🤘😎🤘 both Maids, Nemophila, Lovebites and and and..

you are right! I'm not against Lovebite, and I'm not against BABYMETAL. These two are a great grand band and unit in Japan. But BAND-MAID is special. Japan and the world, who have listened to their music for a long time, have simply walked the rails of rock legends. BAND-MAID will absorb it, dismantle it, and provide new things to the world. Helter Skelter and Yesterday and those who can't understand The Beatles continue this comparison.

Band-Maid is not totally original either. Band-Maid can easily be imitated by other bands. Their outfits make them different, but that's also why Lovebites wears the white and gold dresses. Fate Gear also dresses in steampunk style to be different. Hagane and Roselia sorta dress the same. But all this MUSIC is not unique. It's just different styles that have already been done before. Japanese chicks put their own kawaii-spin on it.

Band Maid is impressive, but Lovebites has more overall talented musicians and play more styles of Music. I think Lovebites could play any Band Maid song but I don’t see Band Maid Setting The World On Fire 🔥

They are two totally different bands, with different styles, and both great. One is more traditional, the other groundbreaking. Nemophila will have to be added to conversation as well, once they deliver some more great material. So that makes three bands, in my opinion, who are at the top of the metal/hard rock all-female world. You can basically take out the all-female aspect and it would still be true.

I don't put much importance on technique or speed; BAND-MAID does a wider range of music and has songs that are unique and individual. So I never get bored because there is always something new to discover.

Best thing about this video is the pictures! Music used is not credited. Why? Not from either band as far as I know. Music is not a COMPETITION. Pretending it is is nonsense and discredits the presenter, not either band or band's fans, unless you 'fall in' with such thinking. a typical channel that quickly gains viewers and algorithms by inserting two different bands together. I don't understand why so many channels and people mention/compare lovebites with b-m together. When there are X Japan and Galneryus which I think it's close to lovebites music. Also Scandal and one ok rock are close to b-m music IMO

Of course both are great and slightly different styles for different tastes, but it's hard not to notice that Band-Maids songwriting is on a whole nuther level, not found really anywhere else.

Personally I prefer not to be pitting these epic bands together. When both need the exposure and until we see the floodgates fly open. At the very least at K-Pop exposure levels. I think I will be supporting them both equally. Although I lean more toward Band-Maid myself. As I have Misa bios that gets in the way lol. L 🦊🎸✌️

Until I saw an upload of Band Maids final US concert, I would have said I was more of a LoveBites fan. But that concert floored me, and now, I refuse to favour one over the other.

Absolutely foolish to compare these two awesome bands as they play different genres of music. If one has to really choose, it comes down to personal taste and preference. Lovebites for me as i more for metal than anything else if you ask.

Band Maid is far ahead of other bands because of its great teamwork, in addition to consolidating a solid union between the members, it is very difficult to find a band that continues with its initial formation for so many years and that works as hard as this band is like finding water in a desert

Maybe a better question is... why are there so many Japanese all-female rock bands with exceptionally talented musicians? I grew up with the rock gods as a young male; Hendrix, Santana, the Doors, the Who, Led Zeppelin, the Stones etc. I think it is time to let some of these rock goddesses have a seat at the throne. As for me, I am eating more sushi and ramen. Oh, and bananas.

Maybe they take rock music more seriously than other cultures, and do not treat it like a thing of the past, while western countries are all about hip-hop today (sad)

@@DRESSMAKER20X Thank you for your informative reply. As I commented above, it was many years ago when I was a teenager growing up with the rock gods, a very creative time in music. But rock was a genre always dominated by males. Yes, there are many exceptional female singers and a few exceptional musicians but all-female rock bands were a rarity. The “Runaways” were the first to gain commercial success but they were considered good musicians, not great musicians. In the United States rock was the dominate genre of music for decades but during the 2000’s it lost its appeal to Hip Hop and other genres. Right now, it seems as though there is a thriving rock scene in Japan which of course includes many all-female bands. Not only are they exceptionally talented musicians but they write great songs. Yes, they borrow from artists of the past but they combine this in news ways so the sound is not only fresh but you can feel the raw passion of the musicians since they seem to have a real joy in playing something they have created. Many that are my age were content to listen to the rock classics but something about this sound coming out from Japan has attracted our attention since we feel their passion and respect their creativity. I know many of these bands are getting international attention among fans of all ages because this is a new sound that is revitalizing rock. Hopefully this international fan base continues to grow because they certainly deserve it.

@@fedogma8407 I believe The Runaways tour of japan in the 80's( I presume) was a big influence on the formation of all female bands in Japan. When it comes to , lets say well known female musicians from the west, I think they tend to be more from the alternative rock genre. I'm thinking of people like The Deal sisters, particularly Kim, I suppose, of The The Pixies/Breeders and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth.

@@irish66 My understating is that the all-female rock band Show Ya has been a huge part of this trend. They started an all-female music festival back in 1987, Naon no Yaon, that is held annually. Members of the band picked recommended acts but Keiko was the main force. Wikipedia has an article on Naon no Yaon and you will recognize a lot of the bands on the list of previous events. Not certain if this website allows links so copy and paste this into KZfaq search… 【Live】NAONのYAONスペシャルメドレー2022 Show Ya has invited some female musicians to join them on stage. I recognize Mayu from Nemophila with Angelina 1/3 and Tomo-Zo from Gacharic Spin, one of my favorite all female Japanese bands.

@@fedogma8407 Hi. I've heard of Show-Ya, and the Naon no Yaon event. The GUITAR GIRLS COLLECTION is one of my favourite videos. But thank you for the link. I will be checking out any of those videos I haven't already seen. When it comes to all female japanese bands, my critical facilities seem to fly out the window. The only ones I would not watch as many videos as I can of are those with exclusively growly vocals. See GallHammer for instance. So I came up with a list of stand out favourites. They are at the moment. Bimbamboon at number one. The rest are in no particular order. Boundary BRAY ME The Bunnies. Caspa. Chai Charan-Po-Rantan - Cancan Balkan Bo-Peep. THE AKABANE VULGARS ON STRONG BYPASS 　 Chatmonchy LoveBites Mary's Blood. COMezik Dance cleopatra Disacode Dollbox exist†trace Flip. Gacharic Spin Band-Maid (after seeing wave Potter's video of their final concert in Chicago, although I had been a fan for a long time. I should also acknowledge the part Shonen Knife had in introducing me to all female Japanese bands. If you had asked me who my number one favourite guitarist is, I would have said Saki with Miyako in second place followed by Kanami. But after seeing a video of G Spin doing an instrumental, I think I will have to put Tomo-Zo at number one.

They are really incomparable bands because they play different music. For me it's Lovebites hands down because of the style of metal they play. There is no denying Band-Maids talent, but their rock music just does not resonate with me, and I've tried. It's my personal opinion that Miyako & Midori cannot be touched as a duo, and I say maybe ever. Individually Midori is a pure shredder better than most, playing in the classical metal style. Miyako is an experimental genius who plays more with mood and flow. So yeah, sorry Band-Maid and every other Japanese band. On my list you all look up to Lovebites. Answering "the best" isn't fair. I mean who's the "best" guitarist ever - Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Jimi Hendrix? Answering your "favorite" is what to ask. Lovebites for me wins hands down. So much so that after 50+ years of listening to metal (I was 11 in 1971 when I first heard Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song, and I became a metalhead), Lovebites is now my all time favorite band, and Miyako my all time favorite musician (that spot has been taken by Keith Emerson for decades).

Jonathan you nailed it. I 💯% agree with you. I grew up loving and idolizing Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, etc.. But now, by far, my favourite band of all time is Lovebites. They are so good. So consistent. I really can’t believe they actually exist. They are that awe inspiring. ✨🐺

I'm a big fan of both band.Being a drum guy i prefer the complexity and the creativity of Haruna🐺 ,she's fast and her cymbals play is just amazing.I put Akane and Murata Tamu on the same level.Both are very solid.Just my opinion.🥁Marina of Aldious is very solid too.

Why I made this video? because I often read comments that always compare these two bands and think one is better than the other. I think Lovebites & Band Maid are great bands in their respective paths.. Like comparing Pele and Mike Tyson.. Lovebites great, Band Maid Great, Wolfpack great and Maidiacs great too.. Not who is the best..but WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE?

Can you throw in some statistics? Like: which one have sold the most albums, which have the most fans (members of the fanclubs), which draw the larger crowds, which sell tickets for concerts the fastest. I like statistics.

Numbers don't really have anything to do with ability (which both have in abundance), but Saki of Nemophila called Band-Maid the top all-female rock band in Japan. Take that for what you will.

I mean, Band-Maid have been around for longer and play more accessible music. So comparing numbers would be a bit unfair in the first place.

I like both but Band-Maid is more my style . Their are hundreds of medal bands Lovebites not in my top 10 ! There are not any good hard rock bands in the US well maybe the Foo Fighters . Band-Maid is my favorite Hard Rock Band that's right # 1

I like both bands. However, when lovebites started playing, thunderous drums, high-speed twin guitars, a new cute and super-technical bass, and the singing voice of the goddess played over them. I was overwhelmed.

I love both. Actually Lovebites have different type of music. They aren't ordinary metal band. That's why I love them. After listening to some their songs you can't believe they're metal band. Especially Asami‘s RnB and ballet, Miyako’s classic piano are amazing.

Lovebites are constantly compared to legendary heavy metal bands and put on the same level with them or even higher. But it doesn't occur to anyone to compare Band-Maid with hard-rock legends, it would be just ridiculous. In fact, Band-Maid is pop-rock, and lately, rather, pop-punk. And I don't like this evolution of them at all. In my opinion, they have big problems with songwriting. I have all five live blu-ray Band-Maid (Shinkiba Studio Coast Live 2017, Start Over 2018, World Domination Tour at Line Cube Shibuya 2020, BAND-MAID Online Okyu-Ji 2021 and Sense 2021). The best of them is the very first. A few words about Nemophila. I think they show that very good musicians don't necessarily make a real band. The expectations were very high, but they have been together for four years, and only one 40-minute album has been released with their songs. Therefore, Lovebites is an absolute favorite and there is no one to put next to him yet.

Bandmaid …. And here’s why … Because Lovebites has a single genre while Bandmaid showcase many. That being said, they are both tops on my playlist.

Some Lovebites songs are pure power metal, some are strongly influenced by thrash metal, some are traditional heavy metal, so they have some variety.

well here is a interesting thought, LoveB is a heavy metal band, so they play heavy metal music, wow a heavy metal band, playing heavy metal music, what a concept, we are here to play heavy metal, on the other hand B-M takes from non rock genres of music, so there music is watered down, the more you take from outside your genre the less you become your stated genre, so are they even a rock band anymore, on the other hand LB is pure metal. and as someone who is into that type of music, i can't ask for anything more...B-M can't say that at all.

I think that's not necessarily a good thing though. It makes Band-Maid's music feel a bit watered-down at times. Trying a bit of everything doesn't necessarily work.

No way. The best japanese all female rock bands are Band-Maid and Nemophila. Tecnically, Lovebites is on top but I don't like their songs and that's the difference.

you have it correct through, B-M and Nemo are from the same musical origin, B-M punk, and Nemo hard core, and sub genre of punk rock, LB is true metal, it's no wonder you dislike them. for me it's the opposite, since i hate punk.

The best band for me is generally the one whose music I've chosen to listen to and enjoy at that moment. Among J-rock female bands, the top two contenders tend to be Lovebites and Gacharic Spin - Doll$boxx. Right up there, again a tie for close 2nd, are BandMaid and Nemophila. Other times, Trident fills the bill. I know it's a wide range, but that's what I appreciate about the current music scene in Japan.

For me the difference is simple. Band Maid has its own musical universe, very dynamic, fun and catchy... while Lovebites seems to always play the same song...
