2 Minute Tuesday: How To Polish an Aluminum Semi Fuel Tank

This week's topic is on the art of alumunim polishing. This is an extremely broad topic with many different areas I could spend a lot of time talking about, but I tried my best to keep it short and sweet. Remember, if you are taking a truck to get polished and the polisher doesn't follow these 3 basic steps, you might want to take it somewhere else (preferably to my shop lol). Enjoy
There are a lot of single "How-to" videos when it comes to polishing aluminum pieces on trucks here on KZfaq, but there aren't any videos showing what it actually takes to do an entire truck. In this video, I try my best to summarize 5 days (~55 hours of work as a one-man show) into a 1 hour video that is broken into individual days. It's a lot of dirty hard work, but is super rewarding!

Would going up to 1000 grit make any difference before cutting with tripoli? 🤔

What do you do if it was acid etched? 🤔 Truck washes loves acid even if you tell them no

Would a wool cutting pad and compound not be enough without the sanding ?

Where are you located? I have a 2022 Peterbilt 389 everything is still in pretty good shape but I need the good full polish on everything. What do you charge for a full truck? Grill steps tanks Wheels everything

Ehh Saskatchewan , ever heard of Regina truck Brite? That's where I was introduced to polishing, worked there for a year 12 years ago, now I polish and work for myself , subscribed for support

Wat type of sand paper you use

I've tried many different brands and types over the years, but the main paper I've used is 3M Red Abrasive Discs. 180 to 600 grit. Brand of sandpaper is important, but sanding technique is much more important.

Orbital sander 320 400 600 then high speed that’s ur key anything else is bogus

U do not want to put 180 it’s to deep I’ll make the tank week easier to crack

@@MockOverdriveI have never gone beyond 800 but 600 is sufficient IF you are going to buff and cut with actual buffs
