In this video I build an all natural shelter called a debris hut.
It is built from sicks and materials from the forest floor.
I spend two nights camping in the shelter.

Thank you! I was going to say I'd love to see the end of his trip but the fact he put in that he was able to see is daughter off to school made it worth it. Being a kid again camping with friends, but again, going back to responsibilities in life, and being the around the most important thing in life in the end made it all worth while. I wish more people were like that in this young generation... Thank you Joe!!

This is useful to know in case a day trip involuntarily becomes an over night trip. One of my mantras is....if you're not prepared to spend the night....then you're not prepared. I used to build forts like that as a kid.....good times.

I've watched at least 50 of your videos and have to say how REAL I appreciate you being. You could easily cut out portions of the videos that show human error, such as you dropping stuff, or having to redo stuff, but you show us that mistakes happen. In regards to the wood cutting and binding, you are totaly right. I work with timber daily as a furniture maker. If it were binding then you wouldnt be cutting. BABAM SON!

its funny watching you do this stuff, because im from australia and you just don't do some of the stuff you were doing because there is a 50% chance something venoms or poisons was waiting there, like you pick up a armfull of the ground leaves and debris, do that in australia without looking and moving it around and your guaranteed you will get bit by something. still awesome video mate.

Nice video Joe! it's always good to catch up with an old buddy. I cut wood the same way you do, put pressure at the top so it won't pinch, and the bottom on the ground keeps the log steady, Don't mind the keyboard warriors. Lately I've been into those smaller breweries and there is one out of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia called "Nine Locks" and they make a great IPA if you ever see it in the store, give it a try.

There are always going to be some idiots out there who gripe about everything and everyone (but don't know crap themselves). And they just make themselves look bad in the process. Joe, I always notice the way in which you re-stash your gear when using, especially things like hatchet blade covers or other small things you are using. I cannot calculate the many hours I have spent looking for this or that after setting it aside when performing some task. Thanks for the reminder to treat our gear with care, and to be aware.

Now THIS is camping .... Unplanned "meeting" with good long time friends, catching up on conversation ... not to mention .. Its just us guys here and the friends you made when you were 12 ... thats how you gonna be when you are with them at 30 .... the booger flicking or the prank playing ... etc... That is never lost with long time friends. This made me smile. This is what we all should be doing rather than slaving away to make someone else money and play to the HUGE demand of LIFE itself .... but... that is what makes moments like these so priceless and precious.
