I'm very satisfied with my Costco KS-10's, the testing was as thorough as any clinic I've been to and my hearing is improved significantly. I hadn't realized how much I was missing until I got them, I was missing high frequency consonants which makes hearing difficult but with them the sound is crystal clear.

I’m wearing Oticon Bi-Cros OPN HA’s now for one year. Prior to that, wore Starkey for 10 years. I have genetic hearing loss, not typical age-related, which is harder to treat. The switch was necessary, as hearing on the left is gone😢. I have a love/hate relationship with my hearing aids. If you need a bi-cros system, I would recommend it, however, I would look at Phonak next time, just for comparison.

Dr. Cliff, Thank you so much again for your insightful video! I am from San Francisco and I am a hearing aid user… have been since 2003! My plan allows hearing aid exams every three years and the hearing aids I have now are from 2021 which would make my next fitting in 2024! I chose to get rechargeable hearing aids , Oticon More 1,without enough analysis on my part and I am not at all happy! I truly like Oticon brand except for the ones that are rechargeable! The battery life is ONLY six hours and that is not conducive for the life style I am in right now! I hate waiting for the batteries to recharge… would have been much easier just putting fresh batteries and no waiting! Any remedy, or suggestions? Thanks again for all you do and it is pretty obvious to me that you are truly passionate about what you do… informing people like me! And giving people the gift of hearing!

I love my hearing aids. They were properly fit by a Dr. Cliff approved audiologist in Chestnut Hill, MA - Dr. Adrienne Ulrich. She's fantastic and does a proper fitting with all the latest techniques and takes the time to do them properly. The only thing I dislike about them is that the iPhone BT connectivity often only connects to one ear or the other but not both. If I turn the iPhone off and on again, it re-connects properly to both, but sustained connection to both is unreliable. I understand this is an issue with iPhone updates and not my Signia C&G 7AX's.

I love my hearing aids BUT I hate the recharge unit. I never know if it will work. I put the hearing aids into the unit each night. Some nights both display a yellow light, which seems to mean they are locked in properly and will recharge. Other nights for no reason, the right hearing aid just sits there with no light on. I remove it and install it again with the same result. Very annoying. In the morning, a red light shows that it is NOT recharged. I plan to bring the recharge unit in to the next appointment.

This is right on. I chose one of the most feature full hearing aids available in 2020. However they aren’t fitted properly and the audiologist I am going to has very poor services. Getting an appointment takes several weeks and they are not transparent about what they are doing. I was told they performed a real ear measure, however the process was very different than what Dr Cliff explains in the video. Lucky enough to find a provider in HearingUp network close to where I live, so I am going to switch. I am currently fitted with the Phonak Audeo Paradise P60, which has outstanding Blutooth and one of the best mobile app which gives you great amount of customizations.

I have worn hearing aids for the last 6 months.. I started out with the lyric.. I absolutely LOVED the sound quality for the 3 months that I was lucky to have them, but unfortunately wasn't a candidate in the end. I then tried IIC hearing aids and hated the sound quality.. I now have the phonak audeo lumity and loved how they sounded until I started having a feedback issue, then my audiologist applied the feedback cancelation and they now sound awful when they get tinny with a lot of tones,(like an oven going off or carder beeping, etc..) or when I'm singing/playing piano, even in the music setting and I can't stand it... What my audiologist did was trying to reduce the high frequency gain which hasn't helped.. He asked me to try experimenting with changing setting on my own to see if there's anything that I liked and monitor it this week before going back.. No luck with that.. Any ideas of what to do?? HELP!!!!!

My hearing aids work fine and they do help me hear. I did have a hearing care pro who followed best practices and I still hate them because I hate the feeling of the plastic stuffed into my ears and I get chronic ear infections from them, especially in the summer. The behind the ear was worse as I have tiny ears that are close to my head and the hearing aid pushed them out and caused major skin irritation behind the ears.

I don't hate mine - things sound better with them - but they don't do the thing I want them to do most: improve clarity. My left ear suffered a SSHL one year ago. I did regain volume with steroid treatment but it returned with distortion. There has been some organic improvement and of course I'm hoping for more. But I suspect that distortion is beyond the realm of hearing aids and therefore am looking forward to the results from the latest FX-322 trial.

I've had eye issues and hearing issues and glasses/contacts/lasik restore vision - hearing aids provide bizarre amplification that randomly decides to focus on useless things [dishes, outdoor traffic, conversation going on behind you!?] - they just don't replicate normal hearing and that's why they suck. This bloody focus on streaming and being rechargeable - focus on providing good hearing first!

@jenniverRosellen It is significantly easier to treat vision loss than it is to treat hearing loss. Chances are, you either have bad hearing aids for you, or they have not been setup properly. Trust me, manufacturer's focus is not streaming & rechargeability. They are significantly better at treating hearing loss than those features that have consistent issues.

@ninadukette3340 commission has nothing to do with the quality of care you receive. I make more money when people buy hearing aids from me and I spend more time with patients than anyone. In fact, university clinics get shut down if they don't make enough profit for the university. Like it or not, revenue generation matters wherever you go. Do you have Bluetooth hearing aids? Music sounds AMAZING through Bluetooth for me.
@alangaughran
@alangaughran Жыл бұрын
@@DefiniteHearing No. Bluetooth won't be much use in a concert hall. The problem is partly the nature of digital filters, partly the nature of feedback control algorithms and partly the ignorance of audiologists who think we only need to hear speech properly - and don't even do that very well because most do not grasp the nature of their task well enough. Filters chop the spectrum up and allow frequency response shaping but they also impose careless levels of phase shift that causes little difficulty to speech but sods music up. Likewise, feedback control time constants are too peaky and results in rapid level fluctuation, also wide phase shifts. Audiologists often lack imagination and claim to understand their patients well but don't really grasp the nature of a condition that they probably do not suffer from. This channel has much to offer and is the best I have found but still fails to address my view that mild hearing loss is very severe for those recently affected because they know what good hearing is like.
@elizabethdixon5536
@elizabethdixon5536 Жыл бұрын
It could be due to frequency shifting. I had this issue, and the audiologist explained that the hearing aids shift frequencies that I can’t hear to ones that I can. When she switched this off it stopped. I play piano and sing in a band, and the first time I had rehearsals with my new hearing aids it drove me crazy! Now that the frequency shift is switched off, it only happens in the really high frequencies, and I don’t notice it.

I would add a third reason: you're not wearing your HAs enough. So many new users think they can just wear their HAs to restaurants or other high-challenge situations. Many people have a little bit of itching when they first get a hearing aid. It can come from still active materials in the shell of the hearing aid. A shell can be sent back and boiled which stops the itching. It can be an allergic reaction but it is usually easy to tell if it is a true allergic reaction. But mostly it is the skin inside the ear. This is cause by a dry condition often referred to as dermatitis. My clinic usually recommends a product called Miracell. You can buy it online. We have recommended it for many years and it always seems to make it better. We don’t sell it because it is a taxable product. Everything we do is non taxable. I am on my second ser of VA provided hearing aid, Phonak Paradise P90's. I wasn't aware of DR Cliff and knew little about hearing aids in 1998 when i got my first pair of in the ear battery powered aids from the VA. At "hearing aid school" I learned there were rechargable aids. I returned my originals and got Phonak rechargeable aids My VA I use now provides real ear testing at the first visit. There is no procedure for followups. The VA uses a 5 year replacement schedule. My original aids had problems at 4 years. Repairs are done in Denver CO and take 2 weeks or so. The VA has no loaner program. Mine were repaired /replaced but not reprogrammed. Therefore they did not work, and it took 3 weeks for an appointment at the VA. I complained enough that they got me new updated hearing aids and reprogrammed by old aids. I now have a backup. The sound of the new aids, now a year old, is much better. I also got a Phonak bluetooth tv dongle from the VA. Bluetooth works, but excludes all other sound and saps the battery. All Veterans in the VA medical system can get free hearing tests and low cost or free hearing aids. Get your hearing aids at the VA and use a local providor for followups.

I mostly like my current hearing aids, but finding something you like is a journey, plus the technology keeps improving; prefer batteries and wear aids from 6:30am to midnight every day. Started with a small BTE Widex with size 10 battery...good for music, bad for feedback, no bluetooth, battery needed changed every 2-3 days. Next Siemens one size 13 battery, bluetooth with phone and tv streaming via hockey puck...bluetooth was nice but hockeypuck was annoying plus one more thing to charge. Next Phonak Audeo Marvel with direct bluetooth streaming with phone and theoretically link to 2 devices BUT practical use only one device (tried linking to android phone then adding ipad which nuked phone settings requiring trip to audiologist). Currently have Phonak Paradise P90 with size 312 battery, plus tv streamer plus Roger-ON...better clarity than prior aids (not perfect but better), bluetooth can switch easily between phone, ipad, mini-ipad, tv, RogerON, good battery life. RogerON works well, though gives a kind of metallic bouncing off hard surfaces sound to voices which (very different from normal use, but at least can hear those quiet speakers in conference rooms). Would like to see features from rechargeables included with battery aids (like directionality, etc), better clarity is always good, better resistance to sweat and drizzle would help.
