2 Samuel 24: 18-25 (ESV)
David Builds an Altar
18 And Gad came that day to David and said to him, “Go up, raise an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.” 19 So David went up at Gad's word, as the Lord commanded. 20 And when Araunah looked down, he saw the king and his servants coming on toward him. And Araunah went out and paid homage to the king with his face to the ground. 21 And Araunah said, “Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David said, “To buy the threshing floor from you, in order to build an altar to the Lord, that the plague may be averted from the people.” 22 Then Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take and offer up what seems good to him. Here are the oxen for the burnt offering and the threshing sledges and the yokes of the oxen for the wood. 23 All this, O king, Araunah gives to the king.” And Araunah said to the king, “May the Lord your God accept you.” 24 But the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will buy it from you for a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God that cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels[a] of silver. 25 And David built there an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord responded to the plea for the land, and the plague was averted from Israel.

I am from Texas, and last August I was looking for a Bible study on 1&2 Samuel and came across Pastor Daniel. I have so enjoyed the Bible study and how it was so understandable with all the references and viewpoints. I have never had some one explain so clearly. I enjoyed God's Word and how alive it is. Pastor Daniel, this message was so convicting, especially toward the end; regarding costless Christianity is powerless Christianity! As a single mom and nursing student, I have definitely been guilty of making excuses as to why I don't have the time to serve at church or be involved in a small group. Recently, the Lord has been revealing to me the importance of community and our part to SERVE as Jesus served! "Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:28) ❤ It shouldn't be seen as a chore... It's a PRIVILEGE to serve alongside other followers of Christ and we ought to do it with joy, gratitude, and humility! Indeed, there is nothing more important than contributing to the cause of the Gospel moving forward! We GET to be a part of glorifying God and blessing others, what a GIFT! We sacrifice and serve as our response to our Heavenly Father and His love for us! Thank you Lord for sending your son Jesus to die for our sins and our salvation! 😭💕

On the quiz my score was 7/20😥 back to the drawing board. The quiz was good fun. 🥳 My journey through the books of Samuel. Too many, but Saul stood out, his downfall showed us. That even great men who are chosen by God can fall. Thus, we need to stick close to the Lord. Overall, the whole book stood out. I love going to my local church, and Maranatha church family teaching is an extra bonus for me.
