I think you made the right decision.. if the rain was not there I don't think your nerves would have kicked in as much. You still show jumped so be proud! Remember your a good rider with an amazing horse the only thing you can't control is the ground it wouldn't of been forgivin out there for you both!! We have every faith that your next event will be successful! Don't bet yourself up!

I feel like confidence recovery is a bit like addiction recovery in the sense that it's about breaking bad habits and also knowing that (for most people at least) there are relapses and that's ok! And unfortunately just part of the journey... But the most important thing is that you and jam got home safely! Hope you enjoyed the wedding and time with your family 😊💃🏼

Congrats to your brother and well done riding - even when things aren't ideal, you are always so kind and conscientious about your horse which makes you a true horsewoman. I am sorry about the nerves, but so grateful for your honesty too because I have been struggling with nerves on and off all year. It's really not a linear process, sadly, but - at least for me - keeping my perspective and recognizing overall progress despite momentary wobbles is important. You're doing great.

Meg, I agree with your choice to pass on cross country. It was a wet, soggy day and there could have been some slipping, sliding, maybe landing poorly so I think you saved Jam's legs. As per usual, I enjoyed your video!!!!

You remind me so much of myself... I guess it's a universal anxiety thing. the constant battle to not be too nervous to do the thing you love (that also makes you want to bow out) and when you go into something with the light attitude that it's just a confidence round, like jumping a green baby over tiny fences, every sucess is a big victory -- then everything goes so smoothly. It's when the pressure is on it's a massive battle. I really get why I see some event riders telling themselves just before xc that it's a training round at home! And of course you did right by scratching, esp with the footing. There's always another day. ❤️

(And tbh I am hoping to see Jammy do a bigger xc sometime soon because I thought it was funny that with all your trouble with her at the event before this one, she was so *perfect* at the big scary table. Almost as tho she respected it and backed herself off enough, regardless of the bit?)

You were walking the course, and I was like, 😲😯😧😵‍💫 PLEASE be careful out there! Then seeing you make the right decision because your head wasn't in the right space, made my respect for you go sky high. As hard as it is, an eventer who still wants to event has to ride THAT day's course, and if your mind isn't going over the first jump, then that course isn't right for you that day. AND you get to keep yourself, and more importantly the horse, safe for another day. Love you, Jammy, Pete, Han, and Abby. ❤ Wishing you all the best from The States!

Ups and downs, that didn’t work out but so what, refocus and onwards, we are always very hard on ourselves when things don’t go to plan. Now you know that if the cross country is big, it affects your performance/confidence and you need strategies to deal with that. That is great lesson to know, well done. ❤️ Congratulations to your brother and have a great time at the wedding.

Meg, we are so privileged that you take us with you and keep it real. I will always admire that in you. I'm pretty convinced that, in showing ups and downs, and how you're addressing them, we all benefit, because few people go through life without losing confidence to thd point of becoming fearful. I don't know what it's like in the UK, but in North America, almost every athlete and team, especially at the higher levels, has a mindset coach. Although, I have no right. I am very, very proud of you. Congrats to your brother... Here's a chill pill for poor Hobbit. Enjoy the wedding!

There's a lot of positive to take away. The eventing calendar in the UK has been rather changeable this season due to weather. I'm relatively new to your channel, but I love seeing your 'pony' showing the big guys how it's done. Can I ask if you see a sport psychologist? I think they can give you excellent ways to combat the nerves. Best wishes.

Hi Meg. I truely believe it is time you evaluate if your heart is still in eventing. Maybe you should pursue other disciplines until you are over your current mindset. This would not be quitting, it would be more like side stepping and would take the pressure off you. It is hard enough to deal with something like this without doing it in front of your admiring followers who would follow you no matter what you do. You would probably find that after a short period you would get your mojo back and would then return to this sport that you love. Best wishes to you.

Sounds like you're a bit stressed and anxious and need confidence and rest and recovery? To be honest your dressage was extremely good and the showjumping was great. Maybe you just need a week off to calm down especially if you are perhaps ill. Also I used to have very strong pony who was strong because I was anxious and so I used to talk to her on the way around to give us confidence, no one believed in us but I ignored them and we went clear on the biggest course we ever did because I talked to my pony the whole way around 👍

The unique thing about horse sports is the feeling of letting your horse down. It doesn't make sense to non horsey people and intellectually doesn't even make sense to us! Truthfully, you would have really let Jam down if you HAD done the cross country and put both of you in an unsafe situation. Good move, kid!

Find a hypno therapist and I guarantee you'll be fixed after one session make sure they use suggestibility therapy because that way while your in hypnosis your talking yourself through it to get understanding to get clarity and the the therapist will just give u positive suggestions which will be in place of fear or anxiety in the states we have zoom sessions I'm in school for it but I'd suggest doing it soon because what happens is that our brain will eventually store it away but not in a good way because you'll still feel fear and anxiety every time but then it is more work for clearing it because we tend to forget once stored away
