Great vid guys! Yea, the 2 strokes are pretty quick. The main cases of the yt175 are the same as the early IT175 and late 70’s DT175 / MX175. So pretty much all the parts can be mixed and matched to build a YT with 20+hp (it175 top end) and a manual clutch. I added spacers on the axle of mine and it feels a lot more stable. I also replaced my engine mounts, that helped a lot with vibration too. The front engine mounts on my YT were so bad they they actually wore / vibrated into the engine cases themselves. Ground the coil to the motor better, and the battery negative to the frame as well. Solved all the issues with my 85 200e

hey i loved the video guys i consider myself well known with the tri moto three wheelers but your 225 is a 83 it had a twist throttle from factory but it should have a manual cam chain adjuster due to being a 83, but i gotta say i loved the the video i knew the 175 would walk the 225 i have a 225 and a 175 with a pipe and its faster than 225 on top speed but the 225 can acelerate good and its more reliable imo and more comfy dont feel bad man because ur 225 is the best trail trike out there known to man it goes real well in trails and will probably smoke the 175 in the woods u can go anywhere with the 225 its a beast of a machine im gonna sell mine, and the 175 engine is similar to the yamaha Mx125/175 the it 125/175 and DT motors aswell you can interswap some parts from those dirtbikes and make it a manual clutch with a six speed and you can swap cylinders for better porting from factory but your best bet is to find a aftermarket pipe for the 175 they made suspension kits but are super rare my 175 keeps up with my atc200x with a dg pipe and my 175 is running 80 or 90 psi and 600$ is a grest deal for it youll love these machines the worst is a pullstart rope breaking or a spark plug going bad which is easy u can reuse your pull rope for enternity but itll get shorter over time and that 225 not starting with electric start but only starts by pullstart is not uncommon i used my 225 pullstart forever and only rope broke once spray wd40 and put greese on the pull rope to keep them going longer im done blabing my mouth off lol sorry for the long paragraph but i hope some of my tips help

Get a set of vforce reeds and a 30mm flatslide and open uni filter on the 175. They haul ass stock but with the flatslide and the reeds it screams. Also premix it, makes much it much more crisp.

The electric start issue on the 225 might be as simple as a spark plug cap. I had a problem like that on a street bike. I have a 225 dr model, reverse, black. I grew up with a 225 yellow dx. Got mine for $50 priceless

Possible the main relay on the 225DX may be bad for the electric start?

I just got one not to long ago and just seen two 225 dx for 1000 kinda wanted to go grab them mines only the 200e but there awesome bikes

Just bought myself an 85 225DX for $600 the other day. She's a little beat up and could probably constitute for a motor rebuilt lol but it runs and drives and actually has some balls.

The 175 I think is faster

Idk if yamaha used the same carbs for the bw but I got a set of grips a carb intake throttle tube \cable air filter all for 32$ on e Bay it all looks the same these old toys are getting harder to find parts for

The 225 needs an Ignition stater the estart don't spin fast enough to fire when the stater starts going bad

600 for a 2 stroke 175 that’s cheap near me a old one that’s in bad shape is more than that
