Trains Passing Old Train Station In Sidney Ohio, CSX Train Goes Under CSX Line, Looking Down On CSX Freight Train & 4 Track Railroad Crossing With Awesome Home Location For Railfans! 5 trains in Sidney, Ohio. The Big Four Railroad station is abandoned and falling apart but it is still pretty cool to look at. There was a model railroad group using it not too long ago. Today it is full of graffiti but is a great place to watch trains. You can go up on the old abandoned road bridge behind the station and watch trains go under. The Big Four line runs east and west and uses 160.800 as the best frequency for road trains.
We also see downtown Sidney with another CSX line. This is the line that runs from Toledo to Cincinnati and the best frequency here is 160.230 for road trains. Check out the old rail in the small maintenance of way yard. I rode up here with @1960gambit and we also checked out the gigantic rock railroad viaduct in town. I will have another video of the 1923 bridge soon.
Filmed in 1080p with 60fps on Wedsday November 2, 2022AD
Thanks for watching! If you have time, please watch another video of mine to help keep my channel going. Every view helps support my channel. Viewing time helps pay for gas, motels, rental cars etc. I have a list of places that I plan on filming so watch another video of mine if you have the time.

I spent hours on a railway bridge as a kid, local people knew our family so kept an eye on me. This was from age 7. Later, I was allowed down the station to stand on the pedestrian footbridge, again my dad knew the signalman (tower operator) and the yard staff. So, thank you JT for resurrecting happy memories of childhood.

I love to watch trains. When I was at home growing up we lived a half mile from there in all open view an we would count way over 150 cars per train. An when I move to where im at now ther was one 300ft. From the house an I miss it a lot. They took the track out soon after we moved here in Colon Michigan. 49040. Colon, Michigan the magic capital in the world. Each year they come together an do magic tricks from all over the world. Im 67 today. An im Samuel B. Y'all have a happy day now.

Another great location and some great trains. Sounds like you got a little horn salute from the 3rd train when you were on the bridge above the station. I really wish I could have been in some of these small towns back in the day when railroads were their lifeblood. Although, I'm very lucky in that I have a lot of train memories, many of them steam related, as a kid. My dad worked for the Wabash. That last train was awesome. Thanks.

Love the old signals still in use! I'm from Long Island, NY and sadly, the Long Island Rail Road has been replacing the old Pennsylvania position signals with the red and green lights. Bummer to see them go, but they did just add almost 10 miles of a third track along the main line for more capacity and opposite direction commuter trains!

I use to go through Sidney a lot when I worked for CSX. Usually we went north and south on the Toledo sub, however, we also crewed the trains for Crestline. For Crestline we would take the transfer track at the bridge and onto the ex-Conrail/NYC. For the ex-Conrail we still used Conrail Northeast rules which were quite a bit different. For one thing we didn't call signals but would repeat the defect detector. CSX employees could never figure-out the reason for that LOL The doubletrack in Marion was still directional, i.e. each side was signaled for only one direction. I had to do a "form D" to go on the opposite track. I always wanted to visit the town of Sydney (outside the railroad) and should some day. For those interested in stamp or coin collecting Sydney is the home of Amos Publishing, which publishes Scott catalogs and other stamp and coin collecting materials.

I watched trains in Swanton, Ohio yesterday, November 5th. Norfolk Southern mainline. A short train was sitting on the siding waiting to depart the yard and head west. Two eastbound trains passed within minutes…a slow freight and a fast intermodal. Then the train on the siding got the signal to proceed. I was parked within ten feet of that one as it lumbered by. Within the next hour two westbound trains passed by. I got very lucky to see five trains in a row. Keep up your good work.

Some nice 5 car train sets on that big stack train. Wow! That last train at the 4 track was long enough to have a couple DPUs - but it didn't. I think Sidney is one of those RR towns along the east/west main lines that goes through Deshler and all.

The B&O thru Sidney is on the Cincinnati to Toledo, North to South thru Dayton, Lima, and Deshler. It is the single track you see going thru downtown Deshler.
