another thing I wonder about, people are always saying hope solo was the best goalkeeper in the world. Yes she was phenomenal but the United States has ALWAYS been in the spotlight. Perhaps we never saw an incredible Russian goalie or maybe a goalie from Thailand or maybe a Chinese goalie because the teams weren’t as strong. So it kind of bothers me when we assume hope was THE best. does anyone know what I mean?

Was that the best debut for Franch? No, it certainly wasn't ideal. I do wish she would have touched the ball more than 3 times or had some repeated looks. Still, the first goal...she was in proper position, didn't bite on the hesitation of the striker and was beat by a fabulous shot. A thing of beauty, really. The 2nd, she may have been a little tight to the post. Personally, I would give a larger window post side almost forcing a near post shot as it's easier to move forward than backward. But again, it was a perfect bouncer, across goal with zip. Those are really difficult to judge so close to you as that little bit of bounce gives the ball the appearance of rising enough to not go to ground. That's why she looked caught between staying on her feet or diving. Tough one to save or make, with credit to the striker. No way Naeher stops either. Nor Harris. Solo? Maybe. At least she did end with a positive touch in stoppage time. A well struck ball, all be it, directly at her. Still, she caught it clean and immediately got it back into play...something Naeher would've bobbled and potentially blundered for an agonizing loss in the closing minutes. Guess we'll be seeing Harris on Tuesday. I did call the injury though... :D .

Well that was disappointing.

England were by far the better team. Very unlucky not only that they didn’t win but that they didn’t win by a few. The USNWT has been caught up by England and a few others now. The fact that the tv pundits were putting it down to the USA underperforming to make England look good was arrogant and wrong. England were way better. They’ve been the better team the last few times they’ve met. Also the shirt names crap was embarrassing.
