Josh from ExpatsEverywhere sits down with Chris from The United States to talk about why he and his family moved to Portugal. His wife, Rachel, was pregnant when they moved and they had their third child in Porto. What caused this young family to leave the midwest in the US and move to Portugal? How are they integrating into the community? Is it easy to be a remote worker in Portugal?
* ABOUT US *

If the singers Madonna, Cliff Richards, and Bonnie Tyler, and the actors John Malkovich, George Clooney, Scarlet Johansson, and Michael Fassbinder and other famous stars have moved to live in Portugal, then something very cool is happening in Portugal ! Welcome to Portugal

@@joanacagido7457 Do not get so dramatic. I used to live in the USA for over 25+ years (New York City and New Jersey) and it was much much worse there in terms of weekly crimes rate and robberies. People are almost afraid to walk around at night. Not to mention that in the past couple of years there has been an increase and rise of crimes in schools and school mass shootings! - When was the last time you saw school shootings in Portugal ? As for the immigration problem in Portugal, it is almost the same as in every other country but the people that come here to work are peaceful too. Hardly any problems. They are all looking for a better life, and they are NOT invading the country in huge massive numbers. They are from every religion, skin color and from every part of this planet. The other day I met a girl from Hawaii living here ! There are over 11 million Portuguese and around 2 million immigrates working here. The numbers are not that dramatic . Consider how many real Portuguese (around 6+ million) which are living and working in other countries. Consider also, that there are some times MORE tourists coming here on vacation, than actually living here. Portugal is one of Europe´s best places to go on vacation. For whatever reason people come to Portugal to live, it is always to find a better life and a good life for their children and families. Gostamos de viver em paz com todos ... We like to live in peace with everyone.

Thanks so much! We appreciate that feedback. We had a technical issue with this video's audio and the next interview to come out and we had to do a lot in post to try to save them. We hope that you find the next one pleasant to the ear as well. It was a different issue to tackle so we couldn't use the same solution. The next interview will bring a BRAND NEW perspective. We're excited about it. - Josh & Kalie

I hope to make it to one of your met ups one day after I move there and thank you in person. A few years ago I entertained the thought of moving there, made the decision recently to apply for citizenship through descent and couldn’t be more excited. It will take a while, but it will be worth the wait. In the meantime, I will continue to watch your videos!

Considering moving to Portugal from Norway. The Scandinavia that everyone used to rave about is just not what it used to be. The inflation is ridiculous! But the pay is not catching up. Hard to make ends meet. And then there is the never ending bad summer weather :) You guys have mentioned humid and cold winters in Portugal, but where I live, I get -20C in Jan and Feb. In Lisbon the yearly rainfall is nearly half less compared to Porto. Also the montly awerage temperature is about 2-4 celcius higher in Lisbon and this combined with the rainfall makes Lisbon number one choise for those who have weather conditions high in their list.

Sorry to hear that. Real estate in the most desirable areas have certainly gone up but there's still value out there although I'm not sure of your budget. I know he was joking but "I don't know any old people" (over 40?) really is rude. And not actually even old. In the mid-west some towns the police don't investigate if the victim is black- sadly, sort of nonchalant about it. This is from a woman who's a professor- good family, police didn't care, when nephew(?) was killed.

Burocracy is the nightmare of any Portuguese to... is just Portugal. Example to install solar panels of in your house you will be swamped in red tape... This is a social country and for example for a solar panels you are intiteled to a financial aid by the environmental fund and to avoid corruption you need documents from multiple entities to avoid that.
