I've owned (bought new) 2 high end F150s (2007 King Ranch and 2013 Platinum) and sick of the same old problems like the IWE issues so I went with a 2020 Ram this time. One of the biggest differences I noticed right away is how much better/smoother the Ram is especially on a bad road. The Ram feels like a Cadillac while the Ford feels like rough truck. I looked at the new Fords but the Ram interior is so much better. Very happy so far!

Same. Had a 2007 Ford Expedition Limited. Loved it at the time, but the ride was rough and my wife and kids would bounce all over on bumpy roads. Got a 2022 Ram Bighorn and the ride is buttery smooth. Road trips are fun now, no worrying about bumpy roads.

I think all the half tons come with coilovers all around, my 2009 did. I don't know about half tons, but my dad's Chevy has a real stiff rear leafspring that will toss you all around, super uncomfortable. If it's not leafsprings, Ram must just go with better brands.

I had a 2002 that was very reliable with almost zero problems but my 2015 Ram had 6 recalls and left me stranded after 20,000 miles with ignition problems. Rear axle bearings burning up, tailgate locking issue, the infamous Hemi tick and air bag problems. Beautiful truck inside and out but what good is it if its always in the shop.

I bought a 2019 ram limited in June of last year with the 12 inch screen, the 19 speakers, the panoramic roof, etorque which I actually like, 4x4, 3.92 axle ratio, etc, total of about 70K but worth every cent. In my opinion there is no truck in this class that can rival the interior of the RAM. The thing is I really wanted the rebel but unfortunately they only offered that red interior and I didn’t like that I like the dark black leather interior which I got in the limited but then I see that in the 2020 ram rebel they took away that red interior so now you can get the dark interior which I’m sure people like me were complaining about and they listened so kudos to Ram. Great video I even liked the trip to Starbucks lol. Good job.

I had a 2019 Ram and had the same initial impressions. It was a great truck, but the little things just started to add up. In the shop at least once a month for the seven months I owned it. All small things similar to what you talked about... screen, breaks, backup camera. I've also owned the F-150 and have to agree, the ecoboost is a pleasure to drive. I love that engine, but I hate the infotainment and driver information center in the F-150's. My wife and I also get uncomfortable in the F-150's on longer trips. I'm a GM fan at the moment as they just work and are comfortable for longer trips. On the higher trims, you can also get the tailgate to close on its own as well. I wish their infotainment system matched that of the Ram, but it's still nice.

I have owned Rams since the 1980"s the 8.4 Uconnect units have always been a headache, I have had the same problem with the screen freezing. I tried the fix of using the steering wheel buttons with no help. Called Uconnect and was told this was a known bug and that it was going to be addressed in the next update. Well still waiting. Uconnect has always to me, I am not speaking for anyone else but me has been a detriment to Ram, all the other manufacturers sound systems have less bugs. I still love the truck in spite of the Uconnect headaches.

I got a 2019 Bighorn and the only real problem I've noticed is the glitchy camera on the tailgate. My last two vehicles were the 2013 F150 Ecoboost, and then the 2016 F250 KR diesel and put 98,810 miles onto it; both vehicles towed a 7600# Airstream travel trailer at the weekends. Two days ago I bought a 2020 Ram 1500 ecodiesel. The reason I moved off the ecoboost to the diesel, is while the ecoboost can thunder up the mountain when towing the trailer, going back down, it simply could not keep the rig under control simply using tow/haul mode, or even downshifting to 2nd gear. The F250 diesel was superior to this - the diesel engine compression kept the full package puttering along at a 7% grade for 5 miles in fourth gear... Unfortunately though, in the past two years, I replaced the rear axle seals twice, and the engine cover only recently. The cost of maintenance was simply too high looking forward once I left my 100,000 warranty behind.

Did the test-drive on the Rebel, then the Ford F-150 4 door crew 4X$ FX$. The Rebel with 4 corner air (closed loop nitrogen) smoked! the Ford in every aspect when it came to driver/passenger comfort and driving experience! Good video. I have a new 2019 Ram 1500 Limited. Love it. I had a Ford F150 Platinum with the 5.0 in it prior to buying this Ram. I put 192K miles on that truck. It was good to me. Even had a 1969 Ford F100 short bed. But I will say this. As far as comparing apples to apples, this Ram is outstanding. My choice was between the GMC Sierra Denali, F150 Platinum and this Ram 1500 Limited. This Ram won me over hands down. The GMC was too plain Jane on the inside even though on the outside it's an awesome looking truck. It's probably the better looking truck of the three. The Ford was just more of the same. Not too much changed from the 2011 Platinum that I had. Reliable, but the wow factor was more like a Debbie Downer. The Ram, however, is just awesome. That exhaust sound is harmonic. Sound system is insane. 19 speakers? Just insanity at its finest. Interior is superb. 12 inch entertainment display is the best out there. This truck handles better than the other two trucks I mentioned. I'm surprised I switched from Ford, but Ram just stole the show.

Cecil Smith what’s up Cecil, it’s been a month since you wrote this comment. Do you still stand by it? I understand everyone has different preferences but I been doing my research and it seems to me that rams are very unreliable. The bad thing is that i was really interested on purchasing one. I’ve owned 07 & 15 tundra. I loved everything about it. But I wanted something different. Same interior and almost identical exterior seems boring now. My dad has the 6.2 Silverado. Great great truck also. But interior is boring. I don’t want to sound dumb. But what makes this truck to me is the interior. That massive screen.

I had a neighbor who switched from a Ford F-150 to a 2019 RAM 1500. He said he liked the RAM somewhat better and the RAM dealership gave him a better deal than the Ford dealership was for an F-150 so he ended up coming home with a RAM 1500 when he originally went to town to get a new or newer model F-150 cause his old one was getting worn out.

Hmmm. I have a new Ram, built in March of 2019. I have exactly none of the problems you describe. None. Well, maybe Ive played with the vent a bit to get it aimed better... but your annoyances have not appeared. I too moved to Ram from two F150’s. The Ram ride, space, and tech blows away the Ford. I always liked my Fords when I bought them, but after 120k miles, they both fell apart - big time. Maybe the new model Ram will too... but at least I will enjoy the Ram drive experience for its 120k.

I’m talking about fleets that drive back and fourth on the Ontario 401 day in and day out. Traffic, harsh weather, and quite frankly dumb drivers all while carrying loads in the box. I think these engines prove themselves and continue to do so. But there are odds there will be issues but there really isn’t a common issue that I’ve personally seen with these new ecoboost engines.

@@DavidVanVoris Yeah but it's just facts it's boosted, and turning higher RPM's = shorter lifespan. The problem with the ecoboost is you only get great gas mileage if you can keep your foot out of it which is almost never. So basically you wind up with a turbo V6 emulating a V8. While it can tow more any real distance you'll boil the coolant, and the gas mileage become laughable. So at the end of the day it might as well be a 5.0 and has no real purpose in a truck. Also not putting your foot it in leads to waste gates sticking when you do put your foot in it which = new turbo. If you add a catch can, keep it well serviced, at the end of the day it'll give you basically what a 5.0 would've given you without the extra hassle. The flipside is because of these known issues you can usually pick up a last year model ecoboost for a HUGE savings. I mean if it's $37,000 for a 2018 5.0, or $27,000 for the same truck with a ecoboost...I can understand why someone would go that route. I've seen some insane deals on ecoboost model trucks.

Overall I think this was a fair review, however you did not address the 4 corner coil spring or available air spring suspension, which is light years better than the WWII technology leaf spring rear on the Ford. Because of this the RAM is a much better riding truck. Been in both and there is no comparison in this department. But no hating here, I think you were very straight forward with the nit picks. Again, though, a lot of this has to do with the all new design of this truck as opposed to the Ford, which is outdated and outclassed on the interior. Another point in the RAM's favor is that it is a Top Safety Pick in the 2019 IIHS crash tests, whereas the Ford is not, although it did rate well.

I had 2 rams and I would never buy another ram. The best ram I had was the 06 4.7L . FCA doesn't take responsibility for the crappy cam and other crappy engine parts that fail after 100,000 miles.

@@borednarmed5612 tailgate falling off by itself is 1,LCD touchscreen stops working after a certain mileage, faulty cam shafts. It's all over the web and youtube of people talking about the problems with their trucks. Then the faculty recalls. No dealership will tell you about the recall because they all about the sells.

Then you're definitely going to hate Ford as they have been replacing cams and the front of the engine after 20,000 miles!

Clunking noise is from the front sway bar . Had mine retorqued . Brakes squeak . I had mine replaced at 5700 miles. I also had the transmission reprogrammed and it’s much smoother and also gained about 2 mpg in town

Good review! it makes me even more convinced that i made the right decision. It was a very close call between the Ram 1500 and the Ford Ranger Raptor (the F150´s are not available where i live) and i could not be happier with my Ford. It may not look as fancy as the Ram but from what i hear the Ram has serious reliability issues. Maybe the Ford truck got some issues as well but when i watch owner reviews from Australia i think the Ranger Raptor must do quite good on the long run. Regards!

David Van Voris Yeah I tried and made the same mistake twice. We’ve had several Nissan products (including a 2012 GTR which was replaced by a 2016 Q60 Red Sport) and have never had an issue. When the first one went TU I had the option to go another direction but figured SURELY I won’t get two duds. Lesson learned.
