The bedrock snowy biomes are really stunning. When I started my world in bedrock after a long break from bedrock, I was on a snowy mountain. The particle effects of snow coming off the trees and the fading to full white mesmerized me. I love playing in this world because of these differences. Now, they just need to give us a useful offhand - especially for mending items. Oh, and scaffolding only breaks instantly with an axe, but nothing else. These are the only 2 differences that bother me on a regular basis.

I really like that a lot of the bedrock features seem to be a bit more logical than java edition, like the salmon bones and the shovel in a boat. A lot of youtubers seem to talk about bedrock edition's minor changes in a negative way, but it's nice that good bedrock exclusive features are being highlighted here :)

I've been switching between Java and Bedrock a lot recently, but this video covered some differences that I didn't even know about. Like I had no idea that a flame aspect sword could be used like a flint and steel in bedrock. Idk if anyone else would find this useful or interesting, but I took the time to write out some of the major differences I've noticed since I'm in a unique position where I switch between platforms quite frequently. Java generally has more features, resources, and mods than bedrock, but there's a few things from bedrock that I miss in vanilla java. You covered the swamp biome mushrooms, salmon sizes, and snowy leaves. I think bedrock has a lot more little details in the various biomes, like the fallen logs that are covered in vines and the different sizes of grass. I think the rotation of the textures plays into that, but it does look ugly when the textures don't tile together seamlessly. I also think that the color blending looks nicer in vanilla bedrock compared to vanilla java. The blending of colors between different biomes is smoother. The world also picks up a lot of color from the sky during different weather conditions or different times of day. Of course, java has a lot of mods and shaders that can help bridge this gap, but it is nice to have it built into the game. Some of the crafting recipe discrepancies can be frustrating. Like the recipe for barrels is different and I always forget it in java because the bedrock recipe makes more sense to me (it uses slabs and sticks which seem to imitate the slats used irl). I also love being able to turn the cobwebs into 9 string in bedrock. They are so much more useful than the 1 string you get from breaking a cobweb in java. I'm not even going to start talking about trident killers, redstone behavior (especially redstone quasi-connectivity), villager breeding, iron golem farms, mob spawning, boats, and weapon strength. :P There's just so many little things that get weirder when you start learning more about how the game functions.

ugh weapon strength difference is the worst thing about bedrock... otherwise I actually prefer bedrock

Oh, I'm also glad you mentioned parrots! It is actually difficult to get them off of your shoulders in bedrock if you aren't somewhere where you can take a bit of fall damage on purpose. Once I kept laying down in the bed to get the parrot to leave, but I would exit the bed directly back into the parrot. My formerly java-only friend told me to jump to move the parrot, but that definitely was not working. It would be nice if there was a way to tell the parrot to stay or leave in both versions of the game. Like maybe crouching could tell the bird to step down to the floor? This is such a minor thing, but it was funny when the parrot was stuck on me like a velcrow.

Boats in java required a shovel in the snapshots where the new boats were introduced. They also were steered using tank controls which I found to be much, much better than the current controls. Ultimately both of those changes were very unpopular so they were reverted before the full release.

About f3 menu. Recently I tried Bedrock single player with no coordinates on. And I felt Minecraft differently! Each time I had to come up with a plan on how to find my base, I had to memorize the location, craft maps, and having a lodestone compass finały made sense. I definitely recommend trying this out. And know i consider f3 menu something of a cheat

@tomdekler9280
@tomdekler9280 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, if anything I hope Minecraft will continue to make improvements that will make coordinates and the F3 menu phase out entirely. There are unfortunately a few things I still think are vital for the F3 menu. I think the X on treasure maps is too large and imprecise, especially when you're dealing with a treasure that didn't spawn on the beach itself. Spending a literal in-game day shoveling around isn't fun and I'll be looking up those 9,~,9 chunk coordinates pretty much every time. Once you're aware at which level certain ores generate, you're also going to be hitting that F3 button to check your Y level to make sure you're stripmining for optimal iron or ancient debris. Other than deepslate and bedrock there's not much to go by that'll tell you where you are in the world. I think something as simple as two glass bottles and a quill should give the player a rudimentary "altimeter" that can be used to determine how high you are in relation to where you crafted the altimeter. As a fun aside this could be thrown off by wandering into different biomes (due to temperature changes) or when it is raining, as an altimeter is just a barometer with a different job. They could even make it predict rain.

I'm a bedrock player and find the number of differences between the platforms is so annoying!! Yes we do have some benefits (like trident killers for automatic mob farms) but they are a drop in the ocean compared to all the bonus features Java has. The worst issue by far are redstone circuits that work fine on one platform but not on the other. I was actually hoping that the 1.20 update would be the paraty update where they ho through and try to get things working the same on bother platforms 😭 Better luck next time

One of the biggest difference between Bedrock and Java, is the use of Cauldron and tipped arrows. As in Java, you need dragon's breath to craft tipped arrows, but in bedrock you can craft tipped arrows with cauldron containing the potion in it, which you can fill up with the potion bottles. This is very resource efficient as you don't have to collect dragon's breath to craft tipped arrows

I'm only just now starting to try Java after playing only bedrock for so so so long. And the games are the same but at the same time the features and the way they go about things is incredibly discombobulating. Its a situation like you know how things are done but now the rules have changed on how to do them, also controller support is a huge gripe for me, I tend to play with one because my desk is at such an awkward level that it gives me carpal tunnel if I play too long. Otherwise I only wanted to try Java for the modding capabilities

I play both versions and it is frustrating at times trying to remember what works on which version. I play both though because I started a world in bedrock on console after major surgery that I worked hard on and refuse to give it up

No matter what Mojang says, if all these things don't get implemented into both versions, True Parity will never be achieved. And I don't care about differences in the coding language - if they want parity, they have to make it as close as possible.

bedrock might be the future of minecraft, having more logical improvements and optimizations. it still lacks alot of functionality and polish compared to Java imo im fairly new to minecraft playing a year now really enjoy exploring, building towns and complicated redstone automations. try'd both versions first week and ended up going with bedrock as the new and improved version for 8-9 months but recently made a world in java and boy dit i regret not choosing java sooner it is just a more immersive experience imo. F3 is one thing.. ability to use different shaders is a massive bonus for performance improvements. i got a decent pc with a Ryzen 7 3700X, RTX 2070 and 16GB ram, can run java smoothly around almost 200 fps with beautiful shaders, yet bedrock, i tried so many settings and packs cant get it high and stable.. usually around 120 fps max dropping to 40-70 when facing alot of objects or walking in town.. not to mention better mob spawning(mob clusters are more fun and just so many aswell compared to bedrock wich is always so empty), better offhand item usage, so many little details missing in bedrock or thy just feel more bland. i hope thy get more parity from java to bedrock but for now im a Java player.

The side rotation adds a sense of realism to those blocks since seeing the same texture on them is very unsettling to a subconscious level. This is especially worse on glowstone.

its so hard for me to choose which version i prefer playing on. i’ve went back in forth between the two i like bedrock because i can easily play with friends on any platform, there are some really cool random features in the game that java just doesnt have but i think im going to switch back over to java because there are just some things that i enjoy too much about it, like being able to have the f3 menu, mods and add ons to the game are almost infinite and with bedrock, i strongly dislike the minecraft marketplace feature! its a good concept but a lot of the items in there are not worth spending irl currency on and also it feels very limited. i also enjoy being able to get many new features sooner on java, since usually java gets the newer features first. it definitely is a hard choice because although there is more i like about java i had played bedrock for a long time too and there are tons of good things to like about it

For me it's better to play java on pc. I have both version. Sometimes I switch between them just to play with friends. I was originally a bedrock player but since I bought a pc, I switch to Java and rarely play bedrock anymore. I'd really like the performance bedrock have but I prefer more to Java. It's exclusively for PC and I always on PC so I feel It'll be better to play the original version.

i wonder if not having an F3 menu in Bedrock is due to the consoles/devices that Bedrock is available on? afaik it's the version used for mobile devices, which might make it a very inconvenient addition for screens that may not have the space to comfortably display all that information (it's already a bit overwhelming & cluttered on PC in Java). do correct me if i'm wrong however, i just think it's an interesting consideration to be made for the wide array of devices the game's available on
