This big mama retic wasn't so happy that we took her eggs! Jay has to take the eggs from this 20 foot huge python to make sure the most survive. The snake strikes a few times, it gets risky and gets close, but once the eggs are gone you can see how big she is and how tame she goes back to being a gentle giant! Living the Dream isn't always easy or safe, but it sure pays off when that clutch of baby reticulated pythons hatch!

I have this enormous fear of a snake, can't sometimes even watch documentary about them, they're giving me some nightmares, but your tremendous energy and your extreme expertise of dodging those snakes attack was really amazing, it stops me from scrolling away from this video. I always wanted a rectic, but my pissy carpet paython that went from being this lovable, able to handle her, to wanting to take me out every time open the cage, changed my mind, a 1 meter, fast grumpy snake is enough stress for me 😀😂.. And add the very limited space I have in my new place, diffently a nope rope for a safe handling experience..

I have 6 ball pythons I love seeing your snakes in a box lol I always wonder what it's like to have a Reticulated python but I'm a novice keeper and I have a medically fragile 6 year old and I live in an apartment LOL so not a great idea for me at this point but oh my gosh she is absolutely so cool! If memory serves me well that's a a reticulated python. They can grow longer than a green anaconda but the anaconda is a heavier snake

won't putting those eggs in an incubator and increasing the survival rate artificially mean that over time the eggs for pythons down the line will be even more reliant on the incubator? why not simply select for pythons whose eggs tend to have a higher survival rate within a similar environment?

I know in the early 80s I had a water turtle and all I had was a small aquarium to keep it in and I felt so bad that after a year or so I let it go in a small lake at a golf resort

They go in to smaller spaces than that in the wild to lay and hatch sometimes even to breed it’s what makes them more comfortable to lay their eggs she is a mother animal protecting her young and that’s why she’s biting good Lord people

Yeah, they can create little body vibrations to increase temperature. They don't do very well in captivity because we tend to think of a cage as a place for the mother, but if we control the temps and humidity just right for the eggs we can actually turn the cage into one big incubator itself. It has been done plenty, just not from big breeders, because instead of leaving the mother in there with the eggs and waste 3 months they start getting her ready for the next breeding already (she needs to fatten up, etc. All that takes time and the snake will do none of that while incubating). But for someone like me, who doesn't have a business set around my animals, there's no need to turn any of my females into breeding machines. I actually prefer to witness the miracle of life and see it all happen the natural way.
