Colorado used to have a similar type of crossword at the $5 level... if you got a different-colored word, you won a set dollar amount instantly PLUS it counted as one of the 3+ words to win as normal. More than once did I get a "special" word plus two normal words en route to a double win.

You forgot multipliers and you should do one letter at a time and go through each word it would probably work better for you!
