My No 1 master piece is the original version of Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche. Hands down. Recently got 200ml it is just rubbish. People used to scream at me when I was wearing this I loved it so much I did not care ! Oops sorry

L'air du Dessert Marocain is according to me not only a masterpiece but a whole art work, having visited Morocco, this fragrance captures that magical country perfectly in a scent.

Creed Royal Oud - was my 2nd creed fragrance after green irish tweed... it's a good beginner's oud ... it's more cedar than oud. It gets me a lot of compliments, my wife loves it. It works really well... one of the few expensive niche fragrances that I really think is worth the price tag

Agree with u in br540. I have both parfum,..and extrait de parfum br540. However, i prefer by kilian Musk Oud, layered with Bond 9 NY oud, and pengaligons opus 1870.

Great video! This is one of your best. I agree with the Royal Oud. I have owned around 70 bottles of perfumes over the last 7 years with 50 of them being niche perfumes. I told my wife that once I am over this obsession of having so many perfume bottles and will eventually be more mindful of my spending and only keep 15 perfumes at a time, Royal Oud will always be one of those 15. Great choices all around, Sebastian. I like the way you chose only things that have been around for a while (so you don't let current enthusiasms for new fragrances potentially cloud your judgment), and that you chose only one perfume per house. You’re right about Portrait of a Lady - LOVE at first sniff. When I first wore it out in public, everyone that came near me commented on how beautiful the scent was and how they wanted to know where I bought it. I think I’ve sold enough to get a percentage. The compliments were genuine, unlike when I ask what someone’s wearing for my ‘avoid’ list. Of all the perfumes and scents I own, this and Musc Ravageur are my go-to favs.

Great list! Have smelled only close to half of these, but from the ones I have smelled (Bal D'Afrique, Royal Oud, Grad Soir, LADDM, Naxos, Herod, Intense Cafe, Portrait of a Lady, and African Leather,) the one that caught my nose the most was actually African Leather. And I was later on surprised to find out it has two notes that normally I find quite challenging: cumin, and oud. Looking forward to those upcoming videos with other masterpieces!

Great list Sebastian.. I think original versions of Dior's Oud Ispahan and Leather Oud are both masterpieces. I had a waitress once ask me to write down the name of Leather Oud because she wanted her son to smell like that. So so rich so so good.

While you "intrigue" me towards many fragrances, occasionally the heavens open and it is revealed to me, "Yes, I'm GETTING that, no questions!" You got me here with the Oriza. Wow. Yes, I must.

My suspicion is that the Oriza's earthiness interacting with the greens and fennel will do something somewhat reminiscent of CdG Rouge's combination of earthy beetroot and ethereal frankincense.

For example, on the theme of "masterpieces I'll never wear," I can tell you straight up that the Etat Libre one does truly sound to me like a masterpiece, simply exquisite, but everything about its being "beast mode," leathery, animalic, "overwhelming," telegraphs loudly, "Not for you, Ken!"

Very complicated house and no one carries it near me with the fact that they are extremely expensive I have not had the opportunity to sample or actually buy and test etc. Maybe in the near future! :)

My suspicion is that the Oriza's earthiness interacting with the greens and fennel will do something somewhat reminiscent of CdG Rouge's combination of earthy beetroot and ethereal frankincense. This is likely why it has such a strong pull for me.

@@cece4749 It was listed as Feminine on the MFK site but I wear it fine. It’s one of those scents that you wouldn’t know was marketed for women unless you had been told. I just wear what I like. The gender doesn’t bother me.

For me, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and Kilian Intoxicated are definitely masterpieces! Also, I really wanna smell some Tauer fragrances, but I’ve never seen them in a store here in Switzerland, which is weird since Tauer is Swiss lol

If you like intoxicated you will like Lair Du Desert Morocain. There are similarities, but I have both and enjoy both.

Au Couer by Tauer is legitimately incredible. I could wear it everyday! The L'Air is lighter but both are must try! 💜

For shear value I rate Guerlain Oriental range and Samsara. But Ex-Nihlo Irreverant/ Sissly Soir'd Orient / Kurkdijan Buccrat Rouge and Tom Ford Tobacco Qud intense r tops....... Gucci Qud intense is also rather good

Great list and some surprising choices there since you don't mention about them as much as others. Pardon by Nasomatto, Ani by Nishane or Un Air D'apogee by Maison Violet are what I consider masterpiece in my collection.

Amazing list, I feel myself lucky to have few of them like, POAL, Sale, LDDM, African Leather, Royal Oud and Grand Soir. Few fragrances from my collection I consider myself masterpieces: 1. Ensar Oud: EO1 Assam/ EO2 Kashmir/EO3/ Tibetan Musk/ Santal Sultan/Irish Ghalia/ Homeros/ Black Chango each of them are masterpieces without any doubt, you pay $600 for only 30ml juice, so it gotta be really really good) 2. Areej le dore: Russian Musk / Chinese Oud / Cuir de Russe/ Grandenia Masterpieces no doubt. 3. Oud Monarch by Bortnikoff 4. Mousse illuminee by Rogue Perfumery 5. Amber, smoky, woody, spicy, tobacco, leather, patchouli over and over and over again. It would have been helpful to us if you featured a more diverse palette and more scents for the spring and summer seasons. Per your recommendation I will test Nishane Ambra Calabria.

@@JT-rx1eo Sebastian puts his nose on more fragrances than most. I agree a prism of personal taste. However, his taste is highly fine tuned, refined, and experienced to allow accurate descriptions.

@@cavgrey8 Yea, he certainly has the experience and fine tuned tastes, but my point is that tastes and therefore evaluation is highly subjective. It's difficult to objectively judge as a "masterpiece" because of inherent subjectivity, regardless of experience.

I enjoy both of these, I hadn’t put that connection together but maybe a similar vibe? I still find GS more enveloping and Obsession to be more leathery (and more similar to Must de Cartier Parfum).

After smelling over 200 fragrances, the bests for me are Layton and Royal Oud. I think the next ones are also masterpieces: Silver Musk, Pegasus, Elysium (and the original Fierce, in this segment), Prada iris cedre, and perhaps other 2-3 in the same scent profile.
