It's a mental illness. I am a nurse. I have worked in plastic surgery. It's dangerous #1. And some people get addicted and they are never happy with their looks. It's really SAD

Who gives these people plastic surgery instead of the mental health treatment they so clearly need?

Most of these people should be in the LOCKED ward of a mental hospital and every one of their surgeons should be in prison.

Any physician who would intentionally remove healthy fingers or a leg for patient's quest to get a better "image" should lose their license.

In my 40's as I developed my first faint wrinkles I was minutely concernrd...as I continued to age, seeing others aging more gracefully than I...I felt pressured to fight the signs of aging. This was more worrisome than it should have been. I went thru a saddened time since being taught beauty was everything. At some point I decided to just relax and take it as it comes. We are fooled into thinking outward beauty is most important...it is not. Instead how we feel about ourselves is. How we treat others and ourselves is far more important. Love Yourself and be kind, caring and supportive to yourself and others. Blessings ❤

Body dysmorphic disorders are sad. Those driven to achieve the impossible are souls chasing an image that can't be achieved.

My heart goes out to these people. Cause there are people in the world who have no choice but to live with a changed extreme appearance resulting from birth defects, accidents, or genetic disorders. But these people are making choices based on a poor self-image of themselves. Real love may be hard to find from others, but real love for one's self is a true blessing!😢

I really don't think you can call Simon Cowells botox and plastic surgery "extreme" compared to the other people on this list.... I mean compared to cutting off a nose, having eye balls tattooed or making yourself a living cartoon etc his nip tuck's are pretty tame and (sadly) "normal" by today's standards.

My mother forced me to have plastic surgery on my right ear when I was only 7 years old because she thought it "stuck out too much" ( other family members disagree). I was awake during the surgery, felt the blood running bdown my neck and smelled it, got hysterical and had to be sedated. I am 63 years old and still remember it clearly. I have no idea how she managed to pull this completely unnecessary surgery on a 7 year old off, according to my sister I didn't look any different afterwards!

My aunt was addicted to tanning and had black skin a lot like the 'black woman' here, by the time she was in her early thirties. She started to look charred almost, but kept telling us she wasn't tanned enough. :( Not plastic surgery, but still as drastic. She got a really rare form of skin C but was able to beat it. She hasn't been to a tanning bed or to a beach in 20 years thanks to the help of her family and psych.

It all boils down to accepting yourself for how you look and who you are. When I was in my late teens I didn't like my looks. Im a mix of Italian American, Spanish, and Saudi Arabia, but 95% of my life taken for italian. I'm about 5' 8" was always slim, weighed about 137 in my late teens and now at 58 I'm 145 soaking wet and I work out to keep tone up the past 3 years. My issue was i thought I was too ethnic looking. My hair was darkest brown almost black, very wavy and when longer curls up. Well i must have looked just fine as I always got #'s when I went out, always had people say I was a nice looking guy, was "sexy" etc. I soon (in my early 20s) accepted myself and said you're a slim lean naturally tone Italian looking guy own it. Well with each passing year I accepted my looks/features more and at 58 I have a full head of curl hair still mostly dark and get compliments on it all the time. Im a healthcare worker, and nurses both old and young always chat with me, smile and give me compliments etc. The thing is I was ALWAYS a nice person and a gentleman and as many have said looks fade but inner beauty lasts forever! I suppose I must have both and never realized it until recently! My late mother ( she past this January) had both as well,. She was a gorgeous young lady with flair and grace and grew into a lovely old woman who sadly faded away the past 10 years to dementia. All whom met her had nice things to say and hopefully when I pass that will be my legacy I leave behind. To sum it up be happy as you are even if your physically not as attractive as the next guy/girl.It might be in your mind or might be real but there's so much more to life then physical looks. We ALL have something to contribute in this world IMO

There are risk with any surgery, although some have greater risk than others. Amputation is one of those that carry great risk. My son was born with an AVM, artery and vein malformation, in his right forearm. He is 22 years old and has recently come to terms with the fact that his arm will have to be amputated above the elbow. It is incomprehensible how anyone would choose to have any perfectly functional limb removed simply for cosmetic purposes when there are so many people that don’t have a choice.

If you are going to call the second to last one as racist and call her out for cultural appropriation than you need to also call out all the black celebrities who lighten their skin and straighten their hair. She at least says she identifies as a black person, the others don't identify as white.

As a child I was burned to the bone on my right leg and I was just 3 years old when my cousin threw fire at my pants and caught fire. I only ever wanted to be normal and have both legs looking pretty good.

Their distorted looks simply reflect their mental health issues - distorted. Very sad that people cannot accept themselves the way they’re born with, and never realise that what is truly important is to work on their inner being (soul) and beauty of character, instead of trying to be someone they’re not. I had a classmate who was “ugly” but who’s such a lovely person that when you’re talking to her, your focus is only on her soul you forget how she looks on the outside. That’s who I want to be on the inside.

This guy is ridiculous! Desire to have a leg amputated. As an amputee that has days I miss my left leg the last 14 years. I would like to have one night again when I didn’t have to rush in the middle of the night to put my leg on in the dark, hope it is positioned correctly, then make it to the bathroom in time. He needs his head examined. These surgeons should be ashamed of themselves. I don’t care how much they are willing to spend.

Prior to social media how often did you see this type of thing… rarely. Truly believe the constant exposure and pressures bombarding people 24/7 to be this or that pushes often fragile people to do things that are really unhealthy.

Valeria Lukyanova for a long time denied having had any cosmetic surgery. She eventually admitted to having it done. I think she would've could've achieved the look without any of the surgeries. She would've gained 100% more respect if she had. If you're going to do something like this, be honest and don't lie about it.
