The would be my guess. The participants are used to having crew around trying not to be in frame. It would not be out of the ordinary for them and they would simply act as if they were not there.

I agree. I felt like Mae glanced at that person while leaving the room. So my thought was also that they probably thought the person was part of the crew. But only with Mae. I don't think other contestants spotted the guy.

@@simontay4851 they/them is often used for one person. You probably use it everyday. For example: “someone left their keys here”. Mae is nonbinary (they don’t identify fully with male or female) and they use they/them :)

If you watch the 360-degree 'VR' versions of these videos (not sure there's one available for Mae's but some of the others have them available) you can click and drag on the video to pan, and just look at that hiding person for the whole time.
