To me the Japanese Chin is my favorite of the list. I am a retired farmer and had always had a livestock dog to work cattle. Somebody put the Chin out in my drive with me watching. until this day I have no idea why some would do such a thing. I lost her about 3 years ago after her living with us a little over 15 years. She was about 1 1/2 years old when she showed up. One of my friends used to say that dog hit the lottery when she came here. He pulled up one morning, I was walking her so she would take care of her morning business. It was pouring rain I didn't have a shirt on and was holding the umbrella over her so she could stay dry. It was early winter too. I still miss her every day.

❤The least fearful smaller dogs I have owned were poodles. On a walk once, with a neighbor who had a lab mix, we saw, galloping toward us, a Great Dane, young, but fully grown in skeleton size. He was obviously just a big extrovert spotting fun, and was unlikely to have been dangerous, but the lab mix started moaning, and just hid behind his owner. My white, fluffy poodle took one step forward, planted himself, chest broad, ears and head up, and GAZED at the galumphing giant approaching. The Dane slowed, stopped a few feet away, and then rolled over and exposed his belly. It was the funniest canine interaction I’ve ever witnessed, but as all 3 dogs were unaltered male, as were the other two owners, what could I do but rub the big guy’s belly? Of course, once home, I laughed ‘til I cried.

I presently have a Sheltie. What a smart and loving dog. I love how intelligent she is. I've never been without a dog and that's for 70 years. I've had Cockers, Chihuahuas, Min-pins, and Pomeranians.

I had one of those dogs and he lived 24 years❤

@Love the cut and color on that Pomeranian! Classy for Spring! had a Pom when I was about 12 yrs. of age. She was thick long brown fur, always running by my feet or sitting with me on the pourch wanting to play and lick my hand. A kid was beating her with a stick when I got home from school. His dad made him to go to his room and locked him in there for two weeks. They moved away and I hear he is now a doctor out of State! I am sorry, it is to quiet and I want to see the rest of your Bondi Vet Show, Happier turn outs! Sleep Well, You put better dreams to fall asleep with!

What a great video! I really appreciate the breed histories you included. Not to mention cuteness overload! I’ve been blessed to have some awesome dogs. A Papillon, 2 Pomeranians, a Pekingese & Scottie mix, and a Shih Tzu & Miniature Poodle mix (I called her a Shih-Poo-Tzu). Every one of them brought me so much joy and they have all been my favorites. Nothing prepared me for who I have now: A Pekingese. He just turned 1 yo and is very popular where I live. I can’t imagine my life without a dog.

As someone who grew up with a Yorkie and has lived with Bichons, I'd swap them. The Yorkie wasn't always good with strangers, including my little brother's friends, who he'd sometimes bite, unprovoked. Said Yorkie would eviscerate UPS boxes. The Bichons, OTOH, get along with EVERYBODY. I can have a Bichon interact with a toddler and not worry that the kid might get hurt. They're much quieter than Yorkies; when they bark, it's almost always for a good reason. Unlike the Yorkie, my first Bichon used to like to dig her way out of the yard to GREET the letter carrier. I'll always remember the shock and smile of one carrier who saw her and said "Wait. It's a dog...but it's friendly!"

I have a Chihuahua mix. We don't actually know what her father was, but we think she's probably half Pomeranian, as she looks a lot like one, and when we look up "Chihuahua Pomeranian mix" the results look a lot like her. Her name is Charlie.

We had a Chorkie, Yorkie/chihaha. My husband had bad diabetes and Lil'Bit, short for Little Bit of Happiness, would come and tell me when Jack's blood sugar was off, too high/low, which can be very dangerous! If I didn't move fast enough for him, he'd bark till I ck'd on Daddy!!! He was spot on every time!!! Unfortunately, we only had him for two yrs, when he was hit by a truck, which didn't even slow down or stop. We were 💔 to be sure. Now he and daddy ate in heaven together and I miss them both, very much!!!!!

You did forget a small, much newer breed- the Cesky Terrier (aka Bohemian Terrier). I have a 12 week old, and he is kinda fiesty. Full grown they are to be 15-20 pounds and 10- 13 inches at the shoulder. Nearly all are born black and fade to gray by age 2 years. They can be any shade of gray, from platinum to charcoal and may have some white markings. They were created in Czekoslavakia in the late 1940's by mixing the Scottish Terrier with the Sealyham Terrier. They are very smart and,unlike other terriers, get along well with other dogs. My little one has flushed out a mole in our front yard already. They are clipped for the show ring to emphasize their musculature and have a kind of skirt. This is a fun breed for those allergic to dogs as they are non-shedding and have a silky coat.

#9 Dachshund. Have had Doxies for over 24 years. Minnies. Tweenies, Standards. And Hulk: my Chester, 2 years old when I adopted him in 2007, made it to nearly 15 before having to help him across the Rainbow Bridge. He was ~46 lbs. And, no, he was not fat or overweight--as the vet confirmed--he was just that big of a boy. My first was a mini stray, Rufus, I got on the side of the road, was supposed to be for my ex wife, but made it clear he only tolerated her but absolutely adored my now wife. Holly was 5, made it to 16, doxie and min-pin mix, had epilepsy and took Rufus' passing hard. Oriana, "Standard" Doxie, but, runt of the litter, ended up a spoiled tweenie, but brought Holly back to her bouncy self. Never had such a spiteful Daddy's girl who made it known when she was mad at me. Far too many puppers who had the best life, far shorter than their pure hearts deserve: all rescues except Oriana, adopted from a breeder due to not having the time to look through rescues due to Holly's epileptic seizures. Had Little Richard, Doxie/Min-pin. Churro, same. Now, have Sophie, aka Sopher Stuffinzez (rescue, Chihuahua/Jack Russel mix, going on 13), Otto von Bratwurst, standard Doxie, going on 5, and Snowball...Husky/Corgi--aka Horgi (Google it)--at 1 year old. Adopted him last Halloween at a trunk or treat event: I just walked by, not thinking about the puppies, and of the 7, Snowball--who had been bouncing and getting attention from a little boy--suddenly stopped and came bounding up to me. Little boy just started going after the other 6 puppies, so, no issues there. I scooped the little fuzz ball up and he just started sawing logs in my arms. My wife and 9 year old son were there for trunk or treat and going for the candy, but noticed I was not with them. My wife found me rocking Snowball like the 6 week old he was, chatting with the owner of mom and dad. When I saw her, I literally told her: "Convince me to say no! PLEASE! We don't need another." My wife, God love her, did not even think twice before saying: "I have cash." And the rest is history: Snowball came home. And Otto von Bratwurst and Snowball usually end up tiring themselves out chasing each other while Sophie usually just makes it known: I'm too old for this sh*t. But every now and then she gets that puppy part of herself awake and no holds barred. We do not deserve the true love and family the puppers give us. Nothing we do could ever make us worthy. At least I know that when I cross the Rainbow Bridge that all of my furry kids are waiting for me to go run and chase and have fun with no more pain.

What about the chauweini, my uncle tried to save a bag of puppies that was tossed in to a creek and he couldn't save them all but he was able to save two of them. He has one and gave the girl away to a friend and that was over seven years ago. Yes the guy who tossed them into the creek was caught five minutes later and was charged with animal cruelty.

I have had yorkies since 2000, they are amazing pets and come in with different personalities, I had two girls that Never barked, never, they could and I heard them a couple of times but it was a surprise because they were such silent pups contrary to what most people experience, my second 2 girls were normal yorkies, barked more and one was my Velcro pup, she was a doll that was happy just by being close to her human ( me ) and she never had a bad day in her life, dogs are Awesome, all of them but don't bet on very small dogs, they are a source of problems where health is concerned, yorkies are My kind of pup.

Morkies (Maltese and Yorkie) are very cute, friendlier than Yorkie alone, very popular and very expensive. Too expensive for me to own I’m afraid. A lot of celebrities have multiple Morkies like Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp, Miley Cyrus, Steven Tyler, Britany Spears, Drake, etc.
