Dear Karen, Your video of using the Distress Oxide pads with the large elephant rubber stamp pad is still one of my fasvorite art tutorisld. It wouyld be fun to see you use the elephant stamp with the dioxide sprays. I've never tried these materials, but I definitely want to experiment with them. Thank you for your clear instructions on how to use these supplies. Have a wonderful week1 bEST WISHES, Dianna (Southern Maryland, US)

Hi Karen! Thank you for taking us on your journey with the oxide sprays. Since you had a hard time sprinkling water- the Distress water spray from Ranger sprays and drips, depending on the force you use. I was Not convinced, I mean it is just a waterbottle. I was wrong, it is the best tool when working with sprays. Greetings from Vienna! PS. Haha. I hate wasting colour, too! I have lots of of rainbow coloured paper scraps, dreamy backgrounds, which we use for our weekly shopping list. Defenitely the coolest shopping lists in town. Yes to smushing out all the leftover colour!

Thank you for this video - lots of great ideas! One thing I noticed was you inked the stamp by stamping it on the pad. I’ve watched a few Tim Holtz videos where he suggests the opposite: lay the stamp down with the stamping side up and stamp the ink on lightly. Allows better control of the inking.

Thank you for the video lovely lady. 🙂 Those are beautiful and great techniques, not all I'd seen before. I have the gold and silver. I was spraying the silver outside in a breezy area, it spurted all over my paper, art bag, hand, and fingernails.😆 I haven't tried to wash it do don't don't know if it is permanent but it hasn't rubbed off my bag in the 3 weeks since it was sprayed on it. I kind of like the black and silver look.and might spray a few more shirts on my art bag.😁

Oh lol so happy accident? I’m glad you played though that’s for me the most important thing because I knew you were not before. I walk around with stained hands all the time to the point people stopped asking me why lol. Sending love

@@KerenTamir thank you! That happened at the cancer center a few weeks ago. I get paint on my hands, under my nails, in the cuticles, on my feet, arms, legs, belly through shirts, hair, face, on my tush (sit in it sometimes😆), etc...and my roommate and neighbors never tell me. 😁😭😁😭😁😭😆😜

I really love the resist technique, which gave a cool splatter result, and the example with the butterfly stamps. With the stencils, which I love to play with, I don't like when it comes out blotchy or the inks pool into each other. Maybe using another medium like ink pads or embossing mousse is what I need to do and I can use the Distress Inks in another way. Can't wait to get all my supplies in and start making some art.

I don't know if you have experimented with this or not but I noticed you always depress the spray part of the bottle with your thumb. You get a very different distribution of color when pressure is applied with the index finger rather than the thumb. The thumb tends to give a much heavier layer or ink where the index finger is normally a much lighter application. Something to consider, depending on what you are doing.
@KerenTamir5 жыл бұрын
Candie Chatham yes I know. The thing is that due to my arthritis I can’t press it well with my index finger. The reason why I use my thumb. My thumb press is lighter probably like your index as I have less strength.
@doodlebugcandiecane5 жыл бұрын
Keren Tamir I almost said something about unless you have trouble with strength in your fingers! Makes me feel like I am a meany lol I know trouble with hands, I’ve had carpal tunnel surgery one both hands and the doctor was amazed I have done as well as I have because he told me that it was so bad I should have had surgery at least 5 years prior! I’ve done great, thank the good Lord!

Thank you! Karen! The oxide effect rubs off onto my hands…if I don’t want to keep the powder look anyway, can I just rub off the powder with something? Also suppose that I am sorry to have the oxides, do you think I can just pour off the top paint part (if the oxide has settled to the bottom, and have something more like the distress spray? I might try that. This video is 4 years old now and I hardly see ANYONE using the oxide sprays now… wonder if they are as baffled by them as I am or if they really just don’t need them because the oxide pads do everything needed for that medium? Any thoughts?
@KerenTamir9 ай бұрын
I love the oxide sprays more than the distress sprays. but you're right you can do similar things with the oxide inks. However I don't know the answer to the other questions. I don't believe an oxide can become a distress spray. the formulation is not the same even if you remove the top paint part.

Is there a difference between heat setting and just air drying? Is the heat stopping further blending of the colors or just speeding up the process?
@KerenTamir3 ай бұрын
it just speeds up the process
