this movie, specifically this scene, is what got me into dancing. It's opened up a whole new world, one of beauty which I had long forgotten ever existed. The line about trusting ones self and respect just cut straight through me.

Martial arts has a similar effect. I was keen to get my daughter into martial arts (ok, dance was my first choice, but she wanted martial arts) I thought self defense, what surprised me was the discipline! You want a higher belt well did you get a good grade in school, do your parents agree that you showed respect, canyon teach younger students? By 14 my daughter was a junior black belt teaching younger kids. There is a real sense of personal power in that.
