I love everything about this video. Consumerism is destroying us. Over consumption is tied to success some how, and it’s definitely the wrong narrative. Then we wonder why we are always so overwhelmed. It’s because we have so much we don’t know what to do with it all. When we keep things simple, our lives over all are better for it.

We are avid hunters as well and have been living off deer meat for 3yr now. It makes grocery shopping so much more manageable for sure!

I love this. I have REALLY slowed my spending. My kids thought every time we left the house we needed to stop somewhere for something. Not so anymore. I just purged 4 trash bags of clothes from my closet. I finally let go of the last of my work wardrobe. I haven’t worked in three years. It’s safe to say we are past our homeschool trial period and I’m not going back to an office job anytime soon. I also got rid of decorating that I haven’t used since buying our house 6 years ago. Getting rid of clutter and nonsense spending is so freeing!!

I am so anti seasonal decor too! I have a box of Christmas lights/ornaments/ for our tree, and stockings, but decorations type stuff? Nope! Same with Easter, some special metal eggs and baskets we reuse each year but no decor.

Thank you so much for this video !! We are going on year 4 of homeschooling and I just finally went through our books. I'm the same way you are. I bought all the books on the list and brand new too. And guess what ....we never read them all. It would make me feel like I was failing in my schooling. We have been downsizing for a few months , I will take a full trunk load to thrift store and come home and my house looks like I haven't gotten rid of anything.

I can relate to so much of this!! I started on a minimalist journey last summer, and it is so eye-opening, isn't it? Confession: I still have a habit of buying books, although I do scout the online used bookstores.

I have been trying to cut things out but my husband is the one that doesn't see where I am coming from with doing that. The only subscription we pay for is peacock because of certain TV shows but it is only $10 a month. My husband hunts, so normally October through maybe like February we only have to buy chicken or pork.

We had a very large library in our home for the kids with children’s books - guess what , they grow up and out of them and then your stuck with getting rid of them. It took months to donate and sell. I wish someone would have told me in the beginning 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Less books and toys the better ❤

I don't buy seasonal decor ( i have never been able to do it because my mom decorated for every holiday and my mother in law does it too and i just cant do it, to me it makes a house look cluttered). I am trying to not to buy decor anymore because I started to do it and went overboard so I got rid of a lot of it and trying to stay away from the parts of the stores that has decor so I can't be tempted to buy it. But the only throw blankets we have are my kid's and they stay in their rooms unless they are using them and 2 of our dogs has a throw blanket in their crates that they use as beds. I don't have throw pillows because I can't stand having them in my house because they never stay where they are supposed to stay.

Hey there! You know what, one book I love that wouldn't fall into this category really but sparked the desire in me is call To Hell With The Hustle by Jefferson Bethke. Just life in general and slowing it ALL down! It was SO encouraging to me and sparked all of it! ♥️
