If it was an End Update, I would be absolutely thrilled. However, with the overall lack of hints of an End update, I think 1.20 will either be (or both) an update to the loser biomes (badlands, savanna, desert) like a Scorching Update or a small archaeology update with some additions to Overworld biomes.

@@artnodescc What? The overworld has gotten tons of updates since the end update. The oceans, woodland mansion, villages, caves, mountains, and swamps were all things updated in the overworld, and I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

Yeah, while 1.17-1.19 have really given the Overworld terrain changes and additions to the game. The old biomes really need some polishing. The same cow, chicken, sheep, and pig scenario is iconic but also bland. Each biome should have a reason to go for not just wood but also structures and mobs. Until then, I don't think the Overworld will be at its full potential. Also, the savanna biome is actually my favorite since it was my very first biome and it gives a safari vibe.

I feel like archeology is still the most likely theme 1.20 will be. Considering the fact that the devs said they had many more ideas and considering the 3 mobs we can vote on has some archeology theme, as in you need to find them in unconventional areas.

Really want archeology but I don’t want caves and cliffs part four, so it might be better saved for later. The community won’t react well with a fourth update finishing 1.17 features

I’m really fond of the idea of an Arctic Update that updates all the cold biomes and adds new weather mechanics or a Beach Biome that makes beaches cooler by adding tide pools, new mobs and items, and multiple variants of the beaches with sand/sandstone colors to boot

Personally I think echo shards are how the warden uses the sonically charged shriek, so maybe the player can use the shards to harness some of that power, like arrows that release a small area of affect damage upon hitting something, or maybe they can be be used to make a new type of horn that when blown gives off a brief highlight on all mobs in surrounding 10x10 area, or a new type of firework charge that gives the firework a “sonic boom” as the firework is shot (as well as a boost in speed on top of what the firework already has)

How are yall struggling with inventory? Shulker boxes and a ender chest isn't enough now? I never had issues with it idk how are yall struggling

@@MORE_BEANS_PLZ Shulker boxes are such late game items that they aren’t convenient to people who grind to the end. And enderchests are great, but they aren’t nearly as useful without a silktouch pickaxe.

Archaeology could probably do something with the inventory issue: Pots could be an early game shulker box, having only a handful of slots but being able to carry it around with you

If they did a food/farming update, I'd really like to see more placeable food. Right now the cake is kind of unique in that. But it'd be awesome to have more decorative options.

@@takiallahjamai Okay, but I was talking about with food items. Like having other cakes or pies or something that can be placed in the world, rather than just in an item frame. Personally, I think we have plenty of plants right now, and we usually get a couple with each update anyway. I'm more interested in the Tuff Golem to be honest.

At this point, We need a dungeon update more than anything else. I have no idea what the point of adding features mainly geared for survival mode would be if we aren’t going to see them add new dungeons, bosses, etc. to provide more incentive to explore and actual meaningful progression.

I’m a builder, and when you said adding variations to other blocks. I’m literally so happy, no one mentions it and you take pride on not being a good builder and yet you say it. What I’m asking for is stairs slabs everything to I’m not joking every block. Along with sideways slabs. This and a inventory update will make me so happy

For the left behind update: what about making new bow/crossbow, in the archery table, with original ressources, like amethyst, copper and echo shard.

I want a HOSTILE MOB UPDATE. All the regularly spawning overworld mobs apart from witches and pillagers, both rare, have literally been there since 1.0. Desert and oceans got a zombie reskin each, hurray. Werewolves? Vampires? Cave spirit? Poltergeist? Piranhas? The Kraken? Also, if they make the End update, I want them to take inspiration from Half Life's Xen dimension as well as all the amazing mods that already exist. It should feel really alien.

No one has suggested this, but a hostile mob update would be a. really good idea. Idk about the stuff you suggested but different zombie abilities or variations would be awesome.

I think that witches should be way way more fleshed out. On paper, she is one of the smartest mobs out there, with a potion against anything you can throw at her. In reality, she's only scary for her poison, she's usually just as smart as all the other mobs. Just bum rushing her before she throws the poison and she's dead. Make her neutral, she has no reason to attack you unless you attack her or her cat. Give the player something else to do like giving her difficult-to-find ingredients for high level potions. Maybe make her and other hostile mobs fight, she's still a villager at her core, and there isn't any reason why hostile mobs wouldn't still try and kill her. Then there's her hat, maybe her hat helps her in some way, and you can get it as a rare drop or she can make one for you by helping her as previously mentioned, and get the powerful magic buff the hat provides. Then there is her cat. We can have llamas that are tamed by the wandering trader, but the witch hasn't tamed her cat? Let her have the cat. Also, villagers should not turn into witches when struck by lightning, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Next, update her hut, and give it an area where it's clear that this is where someone is able to make potions and survive. Right now, her hut sucks. It looks terrible, it only has a cauldron, a crafting table, and a potted mushroom. She doesn't even have a way to get into her hut in the first place, it's too tall! She doesn't have any place to store ingredients, and her AI has no reason to stay there other than the fact it's too tall for her to get down. Fix all that, and it will be a much better place to come across. Finally, the combat. Right now, she's basically immune to magic. With potions, she will throw a potion of slowness to stop you from running, tries to keep you poisoned and weakened, and if she gets all of that off, she'll just throw harming potions at you. Defensively, if she's underwater, she'll down a water breathing potion, on fire and she'll drink a fire resist potion, a health potion if low on health, and speed if her target is successfully running away. In practice, none of this matters, because what you are going to do is run up and hit her until she dies, and she won't attack back as she will be downing a heal potion. So first change is she will prioritize staying 8 blocks away from her opponent, just far enough to hit them with splash potions. She will make sure the distance is kept by using the slowness and speed potions, as well as jump boost if walls become a problem. Also, if she gets hit while drinking a potion, she will instead quickly splash the potion on the ground and then splash their next potion, to save time. Also, the rate at which she uses potion will be much faster. Her main priority will be staying alive at all times, it does not make a difference whether you die, retreat, or allow her to successfully escape. So now the next problem will be ranged weapons, which is the second easiest way to kill her. So her best plan for that would be to quickly splash regen, jump boost, and speed on herself in an attempt to not get hit, then either run and jump out of her opponents range, or try to get within 7-8 blocks of the opponent, where she will throw harming II potions and fight regularly. Lastly, the most creative option, if all else fails, I say she should one last trick up her sleeve. If she is about to be dealt a killing blow, she will splash a healing II potion at her feet. If the potion saves her from that blow, the witch will then use up the crystal in her hat, and teleport 100 or so blocks away from whoever is attacking her. From then on, she will have run out of potions, and if she sees a hostile mob (or a player if a player was her opponent) she cannot do anything but run. Maybe she could get her potions back somehow, but I don't know what that somehow would be. Quite a lot here, but there is a lot that could be with a concept like the witch, and this is only the tip of the iceberg

Do you remember when they accidentally applied the new height limit to the end and made it look really cool, worked great minus some tweaking to the ender dragon area, and then Mojang was like "yeeeaaah, you weren't supposed to see that, it's going 'back in the idea box' now"

To be honest it could be an archeology update. Think about it. All the mobs could have something to do with archeology. The Sniffer is an ancient mob, the Rascal could give you some loot to do with archeology if there was an archeology update (as it is in the mines) and the tuff golem could be a way of showing off your archeological objects.

The Kookaburra Update, we had a Horse Update, now it’s time for The Kookaburra Update, add Kookaburras to the Jungle and Savanna and update those biomes while ur at it, maybe add other birds and such but most importantly the Kookaburras

I think a redstone update would be amazing, bringing the same mechanics for both versions and make it a more beginner friendly system whilst still having really complex farms for late game players

I think a void update would fit perfectly with the deep dark portal a literal void that we can traverse with all kinds of new mysterious things. Like a place outside of time.

I like the idea of a difficulty update for 1.20. I think it should be something like Terraria where once you beat certain bosses you upgrade to hard mode or like the expert mode to easy mode. Expert Mode- Harder but better items. Easy mode-Easier but normal items Normal Mode-everything is balanced.

If they do an end update, I really hope they update the strongholds in some way. Maybe make it bigger, because in my opinion, it feels very condensed. Maybe add traps, because it is supposed to be a place to protect against attacks, so traps for unsuspecting mobs (or players) would be very good. Little things like that I think would make the strongholds more lively, and make it more fun to explore.

They didn't even care updating the nether fortress in the nether update, so the chances of that is pretty low, I'm guessing. It would be nice tho.

I've long thought that pigs should sometimes drop leather in addition to raw pork chops. The other three main animals -- cows, sheep, and chickens -- all have two drops (raw beef and leather for cows, wool and mutton for sheep, raw chicken and feathers for chickens). But the pig only has one. Add the occasional leather drop to pigs to make them more useful. Or perhaps something like the rabbit in that you have to combine a certain number of pigskin drops to form a piece a leather.

I think it's blatently obvious some form of the archeology theme is coming to the game. Even the two mobs who are going to lose the rigged vote both contribute to Archeology in some way; -The Rascal very clearly collects treasures and trinkets, so likely some of its rewards will be weird old stuff it found while digging around. That could include ancient artifacts. -The Tuff Golem is cool for museums specifically. I dunno if we're gonna get dig sites or something similar, but a focus on the pre-player past is obvious at this point.

Fun Fact: Minecraft's inventory has actually gotten 3 slots smaller since infdev. Way back in Alpha, you could store items in your crafting slots and ðey wouldn't drop when you closed your inventory. Ðis was removed in one of ðe Beta versions. Later, in 1.9, we got ðe off hand ðat restored one lost slot on Java and still isn't very useful on Bedrock.

If they do parity update (actually even if they don't), They really should change the interface so that you can navigate the menus with your controller the same way things used to work in the old 4J's console editions. Stuff like pushing left when your cursor is at the left edge of the inventory warps it to the right, or moving your cursor back and forth between your inventory and the furnace's menu not feeling so damn defective. Oh, and add controller support to Java already >.

A difficulty update is something that will come along the combat update v2.0 since Jeb said that he will also look into reworking the difficulty once he is done with the new combat system

he played around with the combat system is 1.16.5 snapshots I believe, so he might already be done remaking it and is currently improving/adding new difficulty levels.

Personally as an update suggestion I think an update that would have to do with sleeping beds and difficulty in general would be really good because currently beds feel kind of overpowered

Exploding a bed to nether mine or damage the dragon could be seen as overpowered, but I personally think that beds are underpowered. Why can't we take naps or have a way to sleep until night? Sometimes you need skeletons for bones or to find a zombie villager for a build and are stuck for 10 minutes while you have to wait until night.

I like the idea of a proper "exploration update" add some more advanced villages, enhance the temples and other more mundane structures, make them bigger and more dangerous, then I'd like a belt item as a storage aid, like add a belt slot next to the offhand slot, belt gives you 5-9 inventory dedicated to tools or other nonstackable items, and with the vague monkier of "exploration" they could add whatever other niche features that don't have a home, want that archaeology they demo-ed? they can give it to you, want more biomes and variants? that could be a thing they do, etc.

Really good idea with the farm update with rare new berries or plants that you need to search really carefully for. Some could be very rare. And eating them could give you some unique ability. Even having non-farmabe berries could be an idea. Then you could only find and pick them but not farm them. But the berries could regenerate naturally in the forests. New berries could also be a good ingredient for potions.

I think a good, but quite ambitious update would be a 'The End and Everything Else Update'. This would update the end, and add all the new biomes that have been left behind, such as the desert, Badlands and the savanna. Maybe archaeology, bundles and what not could be added as well. Although this would be great and would probably be the biggest update ever, I think what is most likely is they add the biomes above, and add a some new blocks and mobs we haven't seen before.

Hey, Toycat, I've been having lots of these ideas for Minecraft since like 2019. Lots of different new boss ideas(we desperately need them, man. ) One idea is that you could find a gem of some kind that you could absorb and it would add on another set of 10 hearts and they would be neon-blue. That would make you stronger, but it would bring another set of hodtile mobs that would make the game a lot more interesting. Mobs could be different zombies, runners, throwers, another set of mobs would consist of werewolves, vampires, goblins, gargoyles(golem-like gargoyles) Golem gargoyles would have some graveyards where you could with their help create your army of skeletons.

The "portal" in the ancient city could behave like terraria wall of flesh, once you defeat it, many new things are unlocked but everything also gets harder, it could be small things like more armor and larger mobs, or mobs only burning at noon, then you could have a wandering merchant like the reader but it sells unique items that are other wise impossible.

1.20 The "End" of an Era Update, an end update paired with archeology, hence the "End" and "an era" (like the ending of the era of whoever build the structures for archeology sites) and it would be the end of an era because 1.20 is ending the "teen" updates. :) also if you Update the end you wanna have something else at least for starter or mid game plays cus the end is hare to get to. :)

I want to see an update where mainline Minecraft can have some of the mobs from the spin-off games (Earth, Dungeons, etc). I think it would be cool to see stuff like the red stone golem, more illagers, and muddy pigs and flower cows in the main game. Especially now that Earth is offline; are we really letting all those pretty mobs go to waste?

I think it might be a Mineshaft update since most of the mob on the mob vote are related to it Sniffer - you can found fossils on mineshaft Rascal - can be found on mineshaft Tuff golem - Tuff blocks can be sometimes be found in mineshaft Same for copper golem, allay and glare was related to cave and cliff update.

I want an update for oceans again. I feel like you could do so many cool things with the new depth limit that could make oceans even more dangerous, interesting, and yet still worth exploring. There could be a new dark and spooky biome at the bottom and maybe a magma biome to lure new players in through magma streams and maybe a light biome with a little bit of light do people don’t feel to spooked

a cool idea for echo shards is using them to make a special item that uses sculk like rules, maybe soaks up exp like mending, to do something like making a special kind of fire or something like that that's used to activate the ancient city portal

Cool idea for the echo shards: Echo Arrow, an arrow that once hitting a target or surface will cause them and other players or mobs around them to glow and be seen through walls

I think the nether needs a big boss like a pig related thing. I play with headphones and no music and I hear the noises in the nether. Sometimes it sounds like a far away beast is roaring and swords clanging down like a far away battle is taking place. Something big that is also rare and hard to find but can be worth it if you kill it

Something that would add to the End but yet keep it barren and scary, would be huge, and I mean bigger-than-the-Ender-dragon-huge, whale-like creatures that floats through the void. Imagine being on an open sea, and then a giant shadow passes under your boat. It would be like that feeling, seeing these Enderwhales. They would be very rare, only appear one at a time, and not drop anything. (If you kill something like that, its drop would just fall into the void anyway.) If you decide to fly into it with the elytra you take damage, and fall down towards the void. Simply just touching it would damage you and your armor. This would be a really cool addition to the End, I think.

I believe that Archeology will be the major focus in the next update, but imagine if it's instead a general "What Once Was" update that overhauls dungeons/temples/fortresses/strongholds and the like a long with the Archeology changes. Maybe even having new gravel-esque resources in these areas for Archeology for another reason for going there. (Plus with the likely Sniffer win it would also add to the theming even more)

The Dungeon Towers exist in a mod and they're absolutely bonkers! You go up many floors, all with different mobs and loot chests and the higher you get the harder the monsters, the better the lot At the very top, there then waits a new boss mob with the best items in the game within the last loot chest These Towers can either go REALLY high or go deep underground...

Weapon and tool holders and whne you put the sword and your tools in said slot it will show over your skin so like sword at a side a bow over your shoulder, axe and pickaxe on your back, that would be really cool, if they really wanted to they could make it something you craft then you add it on to your armor, and it increase the amount of slots you would need to enchant the holder so maybe the unenchanted item carries 2 weapons/ tools then it gains 1 slot per enchantment level of the holder at a max of 5 slots, i think this would be really good.

Each biome should try have its own specific structure and food some do which is nice but even just a new variated mineshaft like the mesa or the regular ones for other biomes would be good

For variety of current mobs, I'd like to see Nether Squid swimming in the lava. Drop lava ink where the signs look like they have flaming letters. Infinite varieties of dogs and cats and birds is of mild interest to me. For inventory, having the bundle so I can collect 64 flowers instead of 64 of ONE TYPE of flower would be great. Or 64 gems. Or saplings. I like the idea of keeping vintage structure, but having newer ones. I love the Desert Well, and would be miserable if it changed -- gone forever: however, putting a chest with a bucket under the well would be a great treasure. For your Nether project, put a cowboy hat on the Ghast.

One thing I thought was interesting is in the Minecraft live announcement/trailer there’s was the scene where the frog falls on a skulk sensor and what happens then is interesting. When that frog landed on the sensor it triggered EVERY single sensor in the entire ancient city which is obviously vastly different than how it works in game and I think that’s intentional. I think that trailer is hinting that someday when they add a way to light the deep dark that it will be lit by somehow activating every sensor in the deep dark at once. Maybe that can be done with a particular goat horn.

A simple thing, considering the different types of mine carts we have (powered carts, chest carts) is a way to connect the mine carts. It would give more reason to use them. We could travel with our friends, use a powered cart to take us places, use the carts for moving to a new base without taking a bunch of trips. We have chains and leads and I think it is possible. Although the llamas let us do that it’s difficult to keep them all together

I really like the idea of the deep dark having a connection to the end, it just feels like they belong together. but they would have to do a lot to overall the end to make it fit correctly

The End is one of my favorite areas to build in, been terraforming the main end island for about two years now, but the islands outside of the main one is so lacking, would be cool to see some type of biomes.

Copper golems and bundles I also think redstone has gotten so big so complex a new villager that like sold blue prints for like flying machines and stuff would be cool Maybe it could even include a build inventory. That told u what u needed to gather on the screen or in chat

I like all these ideas, but you missed one. The guy who made the Aether dimension mod is now working for Mojang, so I'd like to see that be added in an update. Maybe it's where the big portal in the Ancient City goes, idk. Also, there's a high likelihood the End will be the next thing updated since everything else has been. Well, except combat, but never mind that.

I think that the "forgotten" update would be nice. Just making hyped features and adding jungle and swamp villages would be enough for an update it's not game changing but it seems like a reasonable update. Also the update could have some quality of life.

On the Xbox one edition and the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft you were able to customise the layers of the superflat world but if I had to guess what update it is I think it is sort of historical update (due to how one of the mobs is ancient and has knowledge that is not yet in the game and all three of them have a historical lore behind them)

I would love to have a ambiance update it will be like 1.15 where they fix bugs but add things like shooting stars,wind,bugs and maybe fireflys or all of the biomes updated in one where ice biomes will be nice to look at. And the difficulty I would like for it to have a cold hot temperature thing like rlcraft

It would be cool if an end update would include special armor that is found in end cities or end ships, that would be like a special dragon armor, that you can’t craft but can also be worn with elytras, but cost more to enchant. This would also probally confirm that elytras were made from dragons.

This is why 1.20 will be the end update: 1.15: Mojang said that before edding a new dimension, every dimension in the game needs an upgrate. 1.16: netherupdate. 1.17-1.19 adds a new portal??? and updates the overworld (with delay). 1.20 => endupdate. 1.21=> new dimension (deepdark portal?).

The ancient city portal, feels like a portal that goes back in time, to a Prehistoric Era. With large and strange mobs you wouldn't find in the overworld, perhaps even including the Sniffer if it wins? Something that feels it hints to this is the Music Disc 5, as parts if it sounds like time warping. Maybe the warden and sculk is also prehistoric mobs that came out of the old era into the present overworld.

If it is history/ Archeology update, then I would suppose that the portal looking thing in the ancient city is a portal to the ancient world. It kinda makes sense.

There should be some rare item you can find in the end, maybe from farming rare mobs, to be able to craft blocks to build a portal you can link between your end and overworld, maybe it has a chest like block at the bottom and you have to put the same item in both portals for them to link Maybe they could even be used in the overworld but maybe that’s too strong

I think a seasons update would be a good idea because it would add a lot of variety to Minecraft because there are already snowy leaves in bedrock edition, Mojang could use that to make a winter season, and an autumn season could have the leaves change color, while the spring season has more flowers and summer would be normal.

I feel like the hunger mechanic needs a complete overhaul. Players will always just eat steak, cooked porkchop or golden carrots. Once you get a fire aspect sword you never have to work for food again (because who cares about saturation at that point). I dont have the answer to this but if you can make eating different foods beneficial then people will do it

I think when it comes to structures it shouldn't just be 'we used to have this and now its bigger'. I think we should have a variety when it comes to structures for example not only do we have the pyramids that we know of now but there could be 3 or 4 variations of it where its slightly or drastically bigger with greater loot and more of a detailed design (obviously the better the structure the more rare it is to find) but it doesn't have to stop there. they could have multiple structures in a single biome like the deserts, we could have sphynx statues as well as the pyramids and for the Badlands we could have something like abandoned camp sites from other travellers or archaeology sites where the skeletons of ancient creatures are found and it doesn't have to stop at those two biomes! stuff like that would bring a lot more people to the game and just encourage exploration a lot more They could add a full scale mob update (because they definitely need one) take Alex's mobs for example they've added real world and fantasy creatures both being passive and hostile with some being tameable and they all have actual behaviours other than existing, they could even sneak in a difficulty update with the mob update as well I also think the overworld needs its own boss, the end has the dragon and the nether has the wither and we've had those bosses for years and I know we got the warden but its technically not a boss (its just an op mob) but they don't even have to stop at the overworld getting a new boss they could have a boss update which could lead into the mentioned mob update A builders update would be loved by all as well by adding new flowers, paintings window types and actual furniture like chairs shelves more fence types ect, this could also lead into them adding more trees ( I need more) and could also lead into them adding more plants/crops

Idea for jungle: jungle mites, introduces players to small enemy types like silverfish and endermites and also serves as a hostile presence in jungles.
