Back in our school days we friends used to get a plate of Dada Boudi biriyani and have it 50-50 as tiffin in-between coaching classes. A full plate used to cost 30-35 rupees. That old shop with wooden benches. Now, with all these vloggers and tiktokers, it has become so popular we hardly get a seat anymore 😢

Nice video, I too went on Sunday evening around 7PM for the very first time. I think you also went on Sunday? But, I didn't get my biriyani on Banana leaves. And tried Vetki Fish which was amazing. Tried chicken chaap which I didn't like (Didn't eat and left it after 1 byte, actually the piece was not soft). Biriyani was too good in a few starting bytes. But, due to cold or high AC taste was loosing after finishing half portion and softness of mutton was also decreasing.

Bhai Robin while appreciate the video and the craze of Dada Boudi Biryani, it is not from Kolkata but from Barrackpore which is a district of Kolkata. Secondly, the addition of potato was not because of any Kingdom but because of the famine of 1976 due to which potato being the cheapest available ingredient became the the most favourable item to be added in any form of food. Love your video anyways

Sayan, you are wrong with both the points. Barrackpore is not a district, it's part of Kolkata, check the PIN code to confirm. Potato was added to Kolkata biriyani way before the 1970s famine, in the British era. The exact reason is still not confirmed but most likely, 1. Potato was a new thing and added to the royalty of the dish. 2. Nawab was trying to replace the costly meat. 3. Nawab was getting old and the potatoes were easier to chew than mutton.

I am basically from Kolkata but for work, I stay in Delhi. After being enticed by the numerous videos and especially "biryani king" at last in my recent visit to Kolkata I went to Dada Boudi to taste their mutton biryani. But unfortunately, except for the size and choice of the mutton piece...everything else about the biryani was not that special. All the youtube influencers have done a great jon in making Dada Boudi Biryani what it is now.

Bhai juicy toh hogi na, kyuki tumhare jaise north mein bakre khate hai na mutton ke naam pe hamare bengal mein khassi khayi jaati hai. Iski taste tum soch bhi nahi sakte ho.

Galat soch hai tumhari bhai. Tumhare yaha rewazi khassi milta hai humare yaha desi. Aur Desi ka flavour bahut sahi hota hai. 2nd thing tumhare yaha bada khaasi hone me fat Jayda rehta hai jo health k liye sahi nahi hai.
