Classical music is in the public domain, but individual recordings can still be copyrighted. And of course, as you say, the copyright trolls just claim music they don't actually own anyway.

The score itself is public domain, but that only applies if you hire your own orchestra and perform it yourself. Actual recordings are a lot more modern and still copyrighted, and they will likely sue you into homelessness if you use then.

Funny you made this a Japanese ship; in 1912, one of Japan's vice admirals proposed a design for a 500,000t battleship with 50 twin 16" turrets, which made it look like it just had a whole bunch of secondaries (it also had a whole bunch of secondaries as well as torpedoes, but overall the core appearance of the vessel made the 16" guns look like secondaries). In the event that UAD ever reaches the ability to create such ships, I would personally love to see Kaneda's design being made.

Having done a 130kt 2" battledestroyer vs 1900's battleship, it is a cruel fate to be caught by such a beast. Not because you die fast, but indeed because you die slow and on fire.

Here is a thought. - please build this out... Remove 1/4 or 1/3 of the turrets down the sides to provide maximum rotational traverse. The idea is to allow the far side guns to rotate 180 degrees. I think with the elevation this may allow ALL of the guns down both sides be brought to bear on any target including head on or tail on situation!

I feel like the secondary memeship would be more fitting to be French rather than fight against the French. A shame you can't have a tumblehome pre-dreadnought design with the displacement of a modern battleship (and more room to put guns on). Now that would be the ultimate meme. ^^ I hope they'll make this game moddable so someone can put that into it. :D

Just spacing the turrets a bit further apart would probbably increase fuslls broadside angle to wider arc. I wonder if leaving enough space for turrets to turn all the way would allow you to use all of them (or most of them anyway) in the brooadside firing...

it might be worth experimenting with, but i think that areas can become damage saturated, i was messing around with a torpedo memeship vs superbattleship, it seemed to stop doing much structural if i kept hitting the same frame section

That's entirely what happens. If you fully destroy a section that area cannot actually take any more damage, even with the biggest of guns. The devs are always tweaking damage physics in the game, but ships are always a bitch to finish off.

I did something like it in Rule the Waves: a 52,000 ton dreadnought with only the modicum of armor the game needs to recognize it as a battleship and 32x18 inch guns and a similiar amount of 17 inch secondaries. You know, the engineer ain't know right or wrong...

For the next memeship make a giant tincan. A BB hull but set up like a destroyer. DD armor, max speed, single barrel mains and torps. Go against 20 DD's to see if size does matter.

Personally, when it comes to HE ammo, I go for Lyddite 1, since it creates a much bigger boom, bigger than Lyddite 2 last I checked. Edit: Maybe I'm being a bit too harsh, but I also noticed not many people I watch playing UA:D really seem to notice that options as far right as you can go don't necessarily mean they're better options. Like Turtle Back armor is better than All or Nothing in some regards, and explosive types do different things like I've already stated above.

for this kind of ship you would save so much weight by not using those turrets on the deck, but put those guns as casemate guns into the belt level (not sure if this is represented in the game though) Those turrets only make sense if you can rotate them, but it looks like most of those turrets on the deck are just blocked from turning by their neighbors.

I've been doing this with 3" and 4" guns. quite effective on smaller ships. toss in two single turrets of teh biggest guns I can mount and it works very well.

I wanna see a ship with as many 18 inch guns as possible and as many 8 inch guns added on as possible, make it a glass cannon that will obliterate anything within range but it gets immediately fucked up upon any sign of torpedos, but it wont worry about it because it should face off with a battleship fleet

If you had reduced the secondaries by about 5-6 turrets on each side, you could space them out, giving them better firing arcs, making the ship less dependent on keeping perfect broadside to the enemy.

Would have put every other gun on a raised platform and slightly pushed to the middle like a musketeers firing line. This would increase the rotation performance greatly.

Yyyyup/ Mass secondaries are the way top go. I wish you could center mount them in the rear and mount main guns up front only, allowing you to tank with the heavily armored main gun turrets and then unload with the rear half of the ship at close range.

Is it possible to turn all the guns on one side into the ship and keep at range so that the far side guns can elevate over the the near side guns? I suspect the game won't let you.

That isn't the issue. The problem is that playing music during a video on youtube can give me a copyright strike. Even though the 1812 Overture is public domain, someone's recording of that music is still copyrighted.

Just a headsup for future references, any music older than... was it like 100 years? (Well look it up) is no longer affected by copyright. (Unless of course some person owns the personal rights to a song throuh heritage. Although copyright laws didn’t exist that long ago anyways so that’s impossible.

The music itself is not copyrighted, but performances can be. So unless I play it with my own orchestra, any recording of the song is still subject to copyright.

The moral impact of 300 shells flying towards you must be rather extreme. Especially full volley fire. Silence..... And then the ship next to you recives 300 HE shells... More silence... and you did probably abandon ship at that point.
